I used to live in Luton as a kid and where the fire damaged car park is now when i was a kid was the Airports spectators area that was very good as it had an outdoors area to stand or sit, it also had a indoor bit with a cafe keyosk and bar also it had a car park where people could park up and watch the planes or park up and use the indoor or outdoor bit. I used ride my bike from my home to the spectators bit and hang out or go with my dad in the car and sit in the car watching the planes.
The indoor bit had tables and chairs and like a long shelve/widow cill up by the windows where you sit at on stools and look out at the planes. You often got spectators /planespoters in the indoor bit with little radios listening to the radio conversions between pilots and Air traffic contoll.
