I have been DMing since the early 80s and would never do this but have absolute respect for those who do. It makes sense to pay for this service, it takes an incredible amount of time to prep for, reading the room and adjusting improv on the fly is a skill. Hats off to those who do this!

      I ran a game from 6th grade through 12th grade 2nd edition and 3.5
Games were great, players were touch and go.
But as soon as I made a pay to play day, I had a tight group that was professional players weekly playing for years from 1996-2012
Paying players actually respect mostly everything involved in gaming together.

Great interviewing skills! Not too intrusive but with plenty of prompts. Subscribed!

I run three campaigns and only take a few bullet points for notes. I remember what has happened and with who in each campaign. These games can be months apart as well. I always ask the players though what happened last time. This is really good as I class this as in character recollection of events and it is funny how it changes from what actually happened.

I’ve done three paid games - it went well but it can be a lot of work.

Hi how much experience do you have with DM'ing? I'm fairly new to DM'ing, I've only hosted games for friends in middle school/ high school, and wanted to know how much time you recommend before advertising yourself.

@@zandydandy4642 I think if you’ve been doing it for a couple years you are probably good to go.

Unless you are a UA-camr GM, I highly doubt you can make a living off it. You are only getting paid for the time you are actually running a game but majority of the work may be during off hours. Even the guy being interviewed, implied that this was his side gig. His main job is as a teacher.

Cancel dnd to "keep kids safe from covid", but allow contact sports and band...neither of which is totally a million times worse for disease spreading 🙄

Lost me at inclusiveness and gatekeeping. Its a false narrative meant only for virtue signaling. Im about the same age and been roleplaying and DM/GMing about as long. Roleplaying has always been the most inclusive hobby Ive ever encountered and if gatekeeping happens in a few isolated instances Ive never encountered or seen it and it certainly isnt the issue virtue signalers want to pretend it is or ever was. I dont understand damaging your hobby for the benefit of your reputation by accepting a false narrative.

your experience isnt condusive to everyone else's. there are millions of people who probably have had all kinds of different first experiences when entering this hobby. kinda small minded of you to think that your singular self is a good representation of everyone's experience. its not about viture signigalling its about getting everyone engaged in the game so that everyone at the table can have fun. if there's 4 people at the table and only 3 of them are having fun and player 4 doesn't have as much experience speaking up for themselves or know the rules enough to engage with the content and everyone else at the table just waves them off do you think that player is gonna keep playing the game or even keep being friends with those people? He's telling people to be aware, don't get too caught up in a single interaction with one or two players that you ignore all the other people at the table.
