I just don't get all the criticism over Come Around Sundown, wich I think is a underrated album, much more balanced than Only by the Night who is anchored by Sex On Fire and Use Somebody hype but lacks other great moments. This Supersoaker is more closer to ...let's say Pyro, than to Closer or 17 to me. Great song, I love it more everytime I hear.
I actually think Sex on Fire and Use somebody are the two worst songs on OBTN. Its a truly great album though, song like Manhattan, I Want You, Revelry and 17 is what makes that album great, in my book at least.

All the songs you named are outstanding and beautiful and I would add Use Somebody and Cold Desert as pearls from this album. But I dont think Come Around Sundown was a let down from KOL. Actually I see as a great and steady evolution. They will never match the Sex On Fire hype anymore in their career, but they keep getting better and better. And yeah, I dont see Mechanical Bull and Come Around Sundown as similar records anymore. To me the former is just the natural evolution from the later. And OBTN is a classic, no matter if Sex On Fire is there!

if you look back on their other performances on Jools Holland especially, the way they play here is identical to the way they have before. they have never been a band that plays to the crowd at all, and frankly they don't have to.

To be fair I think it's forgivable for a band to have a "lifeless" performance on TV since they have no crowd to play to really. Although I agree with Croi.. like The Strokes, Kings Of Leon have always been a laid back kinda band when it comes to performing. They let their music do the talking.
