I love that design & composition too! That’s pretty minimalistic as far as colors, as far as your pieces usually are 😊 But you’re so cute!! Such a joy to watch! I was laughing with you dealing with your glove that gave you a hard time 😂😂💜
I think pearl white is just an iridescent white. It doesn't change color, so it's not an actual pearl color like the pearl colors from Amsterdam, which look white when wet then change colors when dry (against a dark background). Maybe pearl white won't make pink when mixed with pearl red. I was having some trouble with my pearl green and I added just a dab of regular green acrylic paint (it was Creative Inspirations Emerald Green) to Amsterdam pearl green. The little dab completely took over. It wasn't pearlescent/iridescent at all. :(
The pearl white turns into a silver color, similar to how the yellow turns into a gold. I think i added too much to it to start :( My next experiment is doing just that with adding some color in! These are so much fun to play around with!
It came out in such a great design, love it. I had really good luck making teal, purple, magenta and red/orange but I didn't like the bronzy yellow/orange I got. I also found that pearl white takes over whatever you add to it 😢 so I couldn't get a pink either. Looking forward to your next one!
I love that you tried this idea. I live these pearl paints but there is something about them that they are very dull and underwhelming like you said. The concept though of paints you can really see while your doing the painting and then seeing how it's dries looks so super fun haha. Just don't know if I'm crazy about how pale of colors they are, ya know.
So pretty! How do you mix your pearl paints? Are they with floetrol, a pouring medium, or just water? Thanks! I love to watch you create your beautiful paintings and your thought processes while doing them!
Hi! I haved demand to Molly and she answer this (for puddle) She use 30% of liquitex gloss medium ($$$) with 70% floetrol. After she mix 1 paint for 3 PM, and one squirt of water. The mix of paint with PM is thicker, I have many bubbles on my cup. Maybe prepare the colors more than 24h before use the paint, if you don't want the bubbles pop on the canevas during the paint dry. 😉 The verry good friend to Molly do many piece with the perlescent paint too. Maybe you Know him? It's Mark J Ratcliffe art. He use only the Floetrol or owetrol because he don't have The US floetrol on his country. And he do the beautiful piece and the colors pop up verry well when it dry. On the description box he writte the mix of his paint. I think Mark use 1 part paint with 3 part floetrol US. I hope i help you for the mix of your paint. 🙏🤍 Happy painting, byyye. 😄
What a fun experiment!! Now I’m inspired to try to make a pink !! I’ll let you know! Just recovering from knee replacement so I’m a bit behind in the class, but I’ll post there if I figure it out! Thanks for doing that.
I'm thinking way too much black. Layering black between each color essentially made it a four or five to one black to each color. Especially with the black being a straight black and not a metallic it just cut the metallic/pearl elements out of those color paints. If that white was the golden iridescent pearl that's another dominant one that along with the flat black . I'm going to try one myself and see if I can figure it out. I've mixed pearl paints with a host of regular colors and gotten really cool results, but never used a black or white as a base. I'll post whatever I get good or bad here in a couple weeks. Just hope it's not a hot mess. Lol
What I saw another artist said was when you’re doing the pearl essence that is best to do it on a dark background like black or really dark blue. He said then those colors pop. I think yours is beautiful, but I think what you’re looking for you might try on a dark background
Hi kathy! Yes that is why i layered the colors in with black. I have been experimenting with these for over a year now and they are so fun to play with and lots to think about. One of my next experiments will be with painting the canvas black ahead of time!
This was a fun experiment!! It's cool to know you can mix the pearls! What about for the pink if you have more red next time than the white? Or what if you don't have a black layer in between? Do you think the pearls would mix too much with each other?
Really love the outside edges. I’m glad to see the experimentation and LOVE that you can make copper orange and that pink is a possibility! Thank you for this! B~}
Cool experiment Center looks dark but I love the edges. Can’t wait for this series as I love the pearl paints! Thanks for always inspiring us on UA-cam! Love from NB Canada!
i have! i go over that in my course in a demo as well. most other colors work! it will depend on their opacity and transparency and the colors you swipe them over. they have different properties. some brands dont work at all, as well as some metallics. so i would test on a small piece first!
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY thanks. I haven’t taken your course yet. I just moved and am in the process of setting up my creative space. I’m looking forward to taking it soon.
So beautiful! And u wrecked it exactly the way I hoped u would and I was screaming please leave the center, and u did! 🙌🙌🙌 This pattern would've been beautiful even just black n white but I love the colors too! Gorgeous! 😍😍
@@MOLLYSARTISTRY well i figured so i started a new one after watching your videos i see sometimes you just have to start new. My son thought this new one was Beautiful. So sometimes new ideas arrive from mistakes. Ty Molly you are amazing
What fun experiment!! I finally got some pearlescent paints & played with them yesterday!! I did a wrecked puddle pour, red & white on black on white base. & then wanted to see if the pearlescent white would work as swipe color… they are still drying… not sure how they will look. One thing about these paints, teaches you about delayed gratification!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Sometimes, I feel like you and I are on completely the same wavelength. As you were hitting your first corner, I was saying out loud, I wish you would spin this painting, it would look so floral and not have the corner things that happen with tilting. And just as I said it, you talked about your Erica spinner! I do like the composition as well. That blue-green color is my fave - super pretty.
Hi Molly, regarding the gloves, I put a little baby powder on my hands, it is much easier to get gloves on....please ...do you mix pearl paints with a pouring medium or not? They look thin already. I want to try but not sure if I will ruin the pearl paints....thank you..Geraldine
Beautiful! ❤ I've been experimenting with mixing the pearl paints. I just finished a Phoenix with a white background in pearl colors. I mixed my Pearl Paints to get an orange and a light blue. I found a piece of black poster board and added drops of the mixed paint, let it dry, and was able to see if I needed to add more color to adjust the shade. I found the pearl paint just needs a black background, which made it an option for me to have a white background, black gesso where I wanted the Phoenix, added the pearl over the gesso painted area, blew out with some black for contrast, and the colors dried amazing. I think you may have mentioned in a previous video that you would like to be able to have a white background while maintaining the vibrancy of the pearl paint. The video where you puddled black/pearl over white. If you're interested, my idea would be to use a black canvas. The only caveat would be preventing the white from mixing with the pearl on the canvas. 😊
Great experiment, even if the colors all didn't show up the way you wanted them to. Take out your paint pens, and play coloring page on the dull spots~ have fun, that's the end result you really want, right?! Love your stuff!!
Hey Molly, this is absolutely beautiful. You have definitely inspired me to try this technique. Just wondering if you use anything to seal or cover your paintings when done, like a coat of clear or anything on top, or do you just leave them? And if so does that last, will the canvas hold the paint forever or does it end up cracking over time? Sorry that's a whole bunch of questions, im just really inspired and want to know as much as i can before i start. 😁
If you stand back can you see the lions head with his beautiful ruff around his head and neck looking out at you? The mouth is a little weird but he is cool. The colors are great, Molly!! Happy New Year.
Hi Molly, i know DecoArt Enchanted Paints aren’t the same as Pearl Paints, but i have experimented with layering them on top of one another in a puddle and swiping and they don’t create a real “enchanted” look…no pun intended ❤❤
The colors on my video show that you are using only black and white!! I'm going to look back for videos that will introduce pearl colors for me. Looking forward to this.
So excited to see this. The orange was very pretty my favorite mixture. But that blue-green is literally the color of my hair and that make me laugh. Do miss seeing the pink. But all in all this was an awesome experiment!
I think it’s ok not my favorite but it is very hard on Pearl paints! It’s not a waste cause u always learn something and we get to see first hand basically how it don’t turn out but oh well maybe next painting ur still very entertaining to watch I always wait for next video! Love ya Molly! ❤❤❤
Oh my that blue green turquoisey colour ❤. I actually love this the design is gorgeous ( even though I was saying no don't wreck it 😂) but you nailed it as always. 😊
The problem with mixing interference paint is that you can end up counteracting AKA muting the effect by mixing the different pigments. The way they work it has a tendency to end up not catching as much light when you have the different pigments that reflect different color lights even if they're supposed to mix together to make another color
J'adore le design et j'ai hâte de voir le prochain pour les couleurs !! Et si vous ajoutiez pour le orange un peu d'orange iridescent de Pebeo 🤔😁👍❤️❤️❤️

The other suggestion I'd make is to do thicker layers of each colour when you layer your ring pour cup. Cool design ❤ thank you for this experiment I wonder if drizzles of black in between would work
could get too dark... not sure , thanks
Question, why do the pearl colors (blue, green, violet, red) look white in the cups and during the pour?
They are particles of pigment that only show up when mixed with darker colors mostly. It is the way the eye sees them.
I absolutely love the design! I hate the pink didn't show. I can't wait to see the one where you add normal acrylic paint to it.
It looks like the worm in Alice in Wonderland 😊
