    Man, this is getting me through my third college semester. Many thanks for breaking it down so simply and encouraging deeper thought. Its tough to do but this makes the reading so much easier.

      Glad it was helpful! It's a really good story if you can get through the barrier created by cultural change across the centuries.

    Many thanks for all your hard work. This has been immensely helpful introducing the Canterbury Tales to my two homeschoolers. You've been a tremendous resource. It is much appreciated.

      Glad to help. We have two homeschooled boys as well. There's plenty of other literature-related material on my channel, if your kids are of high school age. Let me know if you have any questions.

      LOL. I learned a long time ago that being a good teacher requires one to have absolutely no shame. Glad you enjoy the voices. I have fun with them.

      COVID instruction was a huge hurdle. The hardest part was having no idea if people were actually doing their reading. At least if I read the whole thing with explanations online I could use analytics to track class participation.

      Glad it can pass of as any kind of English accent. I got it all from TV and Audio book narrators. I've never been able to get across the pond. It's on my bucket list, though.

    i've a question: wife of bath continually acknowledges her possition through the repetead phares '' Thou saist'' she knows the criticism against women that have been said.what are a few of these critisims and what are a few counterpoints she fires back for her audience to contemplate ? is anyone who knows the answer ? i got a assignment

    • @Mr.H-Literature
      @Mr.H-Literature  2 роки тому +1

      Listening to the story should give you the knowledge necessary to answer that. As a general rule I don't answer assignment questions on here, though I'll help with essay topics when I can.

      I don't follow. Chaucer certainly didn't say that and neither did I.

    The line numbers dont match up to my English Lit book - totally lost

    • @Mr.H-Literature
      @Mr.H-Literature  2 роки тому

      Not much to do about that, I'm afraid. Each textbook company selects a translation and chooses how to cut up the tales. For clarity, they all start their line numbers for each section at 1, even though it may be starting a few lines earlier of farther away.
      I had three different textbooks over the course of 13 years in the classroom. I started with Glencoe, the moved to Penguin, then to Prentice Hall. The treatment of the Canterbury Tales was nearly always the same, as were the specific tales selected, but the way they were edited and laid out was always different.
