Lack of accountability is why Positive Only training only goes so far. For some dogs Positive Only is enough but when you have a particular temperament expression and coupled with the breed type and handler’s abilities many times it fails to deliver reliable results. No dog in a heightened state of fear or arousal is going to even take a treat.

So many people assume a dog that is afraid has been abused, and they also assume that a correction will make a dog afraid - just like you said. There's a difference in a clear correction vs. abuse. A clear correction makes a dog less anxious because that dog then knows where the line is and doesn't have to guess.

Both are submissive but they will try to roughhouse a bit too much or be a bit too dominate for the other dog's mood. Thank you for this info. I have a dominant border collie bitch and she redirects her attention into me when not allowed to be dominant. I think the soft stick method would work great. She goes right to the face when interacting with new dogs . Working dogs aren’t soft , they need clear direction and firm boundaries. I’m aware that border collies have a more sensitive demeanor , but i think just carrying a soft stick will make a difference with multiple dogs walking .she’s a smart , smart girl , and I don’t want to resort to an e collar and muzzle . a couple corrections in the heat of things will work just fine I believe . Thank you , and I’m sure my dog will thank you too .

I run up to 10 adults together at the same time and do pretty much the same procedure, just need to know the body language and defuse it before it starts the signs can be very subtle but they are always there if you are tuned in to them. If I introduce a new dog it's on neutral ground and I will give them an enclosed run side by side so they can smell and see each other with mesh between them, when they are fine with that then I run them together. I breed my own family of dogs and have done for 50 yrs they a made up of Bull breeds and they a so much more wired than what's shown here, I would never introduce a new dog straight out of the pens while they are in a high energy state, Id give them a burnout on their own to lose the energy then start the process of introducing the new dog. Enjoying your videos.

Didn't anybody see the massive shock waves at 7:20 min. How's Sparky !
I've only had to use my e-collar at 20%. Siberian Husky working line sled dog 75Lbs code name COBRA . Cookie pushers don't get it . Works as well as your dog would learn from playing with a porcupine. I've tried it on my neck. Any hire would be reversive on a home pet...
Only in Ontario where E-collars are still legal . Poor Americans are on the biscuits.

This is my 1st viewing of your Chanel. I have had 2 previous GSD's, One was born fear aggressive and the 2nd mauled twice in a month by fear aggressive dogs which resulted in aggressive behavior towards all dogs and me being hyper vigilant. On November 17th I adopted a 3 yo GSD from a local shelter. He had been in the shelter for 5 months. I wanted to slowly introduce him to other dogs. But in the meantime I tried to begin exercising him using an extra long leash and chucking a tennis ball. There were other dogs in the area at a far distance and it seems each day he was getting more frustrated that he could not get to the other dogs to the point he would only focus on the dogs.. But I did not know yet how he would react up close and it seemed each day he was getting more extreme than the previous day. So I quit doing that and we now walk in a local rec center area around soccer fields for 90 minutes each day. When we encounter other dogs the result so far is always the same, dog goes into drama queen mode. Can you be more specific about the small tell tale signs a fight may break out and more specifics about this soft device you are using to stop an engagement. I am trying to schedule a slow meet and play date with a docile150 lb 9 month old Tibetan Mastiff. I am thinking that may get mister drama queen to think twice. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have one of those girls. Love her and she loves me! but probably because we’ve had a few “come to Jesus” moments that positive reenforcement only trainers would cringe over. Awesome dog.

@@heidikimwu2309 lol My sweet wild girl “Stella” just turned 10 months! Exactly! She’s a West German Showline long coat. Hoping to get her IGP title but being selective who/where to have her trained. They definitely try us don’t they. I have a one year old male long coat. He’s huge but more mellow. A gentle soul. No mop handle YET! Lol I love following this channel. They are REAL on here!

Creating learned helplessness is actually an excellent strategy in managing dogs like this. Just like a kid may fear losing their cell phone or iPad for writing with permanent marker on the walls! They don't fear YOU but it is good to have them fear doing a certain behaviour due to consequences so the choice not to do something is MORE reinforcing than the act of doing it. No problem with that whatsoever.
Dancing around with cookies isn't productive for behaviours like this in all high drive working breeds, it can work over a longer period of time however, everything the behaviour is rehearsed they are building upon that habit which can be two steps forward and 1 or 2 steps back for months and months, and many clients just don't have that time or energy to maintain that, let alone risk a serious accident that can have severe consequences. This is a different realm for sure than barking, jumping, or just rough play. Love your honest and straight shooter style. You're also very soft when it is appropriate and suitable to the dog too! New to your channel in the last year but I enjoy and resonate with all of it thus far 🥰

An owner's love for his or her pet is pure love itself! Dogs and cats cannot speak, but they are carefully nurtured while thinking about what they want and need, and the pets return the love directly to you as much as you love them. Yes, they are family!🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕😍😍😍😍
