That looks delicious! I love making my own spice mixes!
@@TheNakidGardeners poultry seasoning, chilli powder, dehydrated garlic powder, onion powder, you name it I am Making my own. I have a iodine allergy so I can’t just buy spices anymore.
@@RebelCanners your allergy is unfortunate, i can appreciate the desire to create your own..... I feel it tastes better knowing 💕
I have the same dehydrator. It can hold 8 trays. I purchased 4 extra trays online. It works great. I can’t wait to get lemons from my tree. Thanks for sharing.😊🍋
That is great! We upgraded and thinking about getting something else
I am looking at portable greenhouses so I can get one in the next month or so. Yours looks like something I can do by myself. I cannot remember ever having this kind of cold weather and snow in our part of Texas. One reason I enjoy your videos is because we are in same growing zone. Stay warm and safe.
Yea we havent been able to even use that portable greenhouse since we expanded our garden.
Which area are you located again?
I actually didn't know people dehydrated lemons and enjoyed it! I'm really looking forward to seeing the spice mixes you make :)
We wanted to make sure we could preserve it with a purpose.
We LOVE to cook..... We have spent thousands in our lifetime on spices, lemon compliments so many dishes!
We could of juiced them, froze them in ice trays for fresh use when needed and just dehydrated the skin and used that in a spice mix. We really wanted to take up the least space storing and use it a variety of ways.... We just realized how much we love 1/4 tsp in our tea. 😊
Do you make any spices?
Ooooooh snap... 🤯 This will take my 'Space Game' to a whole new level (ha!).
Thank you for sharing. And that Orchid is absolutely stunning. Have a beautiful day. 🌱✌️♥️
You are so very welcome! We are enjoying finding tasty ways to not be wasteful AND store things efficiently too ,lol. There are SO many ways to use this lemon powder! Stay Blessed!
Mr. NG, get my girl a reeeeeally nice dehydrator. She’ll also be needing a canner soon too, just saying. Dehydrating is the gateway to canning. Us homesteaders know that! 🤣🤣
Great video. I’m definitely going to do this

*Reads title* LEMON POWDER?! 🤯Much intrigue! Saving for later!!
We are going to show other ways to make & use spices from our garden here shortly so stay tuned
Got a real good laugh at you and the new dehydrator, and the eyebrow lift!!! Ha ha!!! So funny!!!
Lol! We have so much fun in the kitchen.... I'm so glad you watched 😁
.... Do you make any of your own spices?
I make dehydrated hot pepper powder. I love to put it in spaghetti to make it burning hot. I make basil, terragon, whatever I can since I'm allergic to sulphate that are added to all spices to keep them fresh. If the sulphites are under a certain level, they do not have to be included in the ingredients. Love these cooking videos. I want to do this in the future also!!
@@snugglebunny.jmosbrook You should! We like going back to see what we did like a video diary we are leaving for our kids to have. We both lost our moms, so we know they will treasure it as we would one day!
I like to let cayenne naturally dry in a paper sack, then grind it up and use it to add to any dish I want some heat in! 😊
What a brilliant process. I have never heard of drying lemons. Yes please I would love to checkout your spice blends

Hey luvs good to hear from yall. More videos are coming out soon. Thanks for stopling by and watching.
I’m really interested in the seasoning you’re making. And yes I’m following....👀
We are going to be doing a lot of seasonings we grow from our garden. Have you made your own seasoning before?
I’ve dried my culinary herbs like cilantro and thyme but this I have to try.
Great video, Sidney and Tory. Love seeing that harvest. Nice how-to!

Thanks Rob. We are going to try and use everything from the land and have no waste. Hopefully this will help us live 80% sustainable from the land.
Thanks for stopping by and watching. Stay blessed.
I'm definitely interested in seeing how you use this powder in #lemonspice mixes. We get tons of lemons from our neighbor's tree and I never can use them all, so this great information. Thanks!
What a blessing for you guys to have such access! I can tell you that we love putting 1/4 tsp into a cup of tea....it adds such a nice flavor! We have some spice recipe mixes and recipe videos coming up soon, thank-you so much for watching!
Thanks for this fabulous video. Have been playing with the idea of making my own spice mixes too. Would love more videos of this kind.
I also think you could use this powder to mix up some kind of homemade cleaning solution.
Funny you should mention that because using for an organic cleaning mix is on my radar 😊
We have a few more spice videos coming up and recipes...... Making our own spices from the garden for food and tea, etc is a passion!
What would you like to make? (looking for inspiration) Stay blessed!
@@TheNakidGardeners - Tea and spices using my homegrown Herbs, Edible Flowers, Garlic and Peppers. I love knowing where my food is coming from, and thought a spice selection from my garden would also make nice gifts for friends.
Wow! I dehydrated a bag of sliced lemons and limes and they turned all brown like yours, so I thought I ruined all of them by over-dehydrating them. I put them all in Ball jars and vacuum sealed them. Maybe I should just grind them for powder?
If we did not dehydrate them that long it would have been not as dark. However, you can smell the great lemony smell it produces still. Yes grind them up and make your own powder.
Would you tell me where you got your lemon trees? How do ya'll like the snow? I do enjoy y'all's videos.
We got our Improved Meyer lemon trees from home depot last March. We're not huge fans of the snow, this morning we woke up to our heat not working but we were blessed a technician came on a closed business day to help us and we're warm again!
We appreciate you so much for watching, stay warm and blessed!
That's a great idea!!!
We are going to start making a lot of things ourself. Yea it might be some work and elbow grease but at least we know what will be going in our body.
Are you making your own spices?
More kinds of dried peppers this year. Growing ghost pepper, Puma pepper, alma pepper, paprika, fish pepper, Pumpkin spice jalapeno and lemon spice...Buena mulata, red cherry, big Jim, Tobago seasoning pepper
I live in Burleson Texas, just south of Fort Worth. Two of the towns that has grown together and one side of street is one city and across the street is a different city.
Great. Idea! Have been giving lemons away and making pies!
Think I will pick the remaining lemons tomorrow and give this a try!!! Thanks!!

@@TheNakidGardeners Not yet! I have a small area between my house and my neighbor’s house that gets enough sun for a summer garden. I’m gathering supplies to set up a container and tower garden this spring. Besides blueberries and strawberries, do you have suggestions for dwarf varieties of fruit trees I can grow in containers? I’m right on the border between Zone 5b and 6A. I don’t have a space to move them inside in the winter right now.

Not yet been composting everything now I want to learn how to make spices and how to use them
Is it normal to turn dark?
Yes, it's a natural part of the drying process in my experience. It was a little darker from the oven drying method, i suspect from that heat. It does not compromise the outcome thankfully 😊
