it’s hard to watch a runner like sahlman go out that fast and hold that pace and lead, Ricks did exactly what he should have in that situation staying back and waiting for sahlman to tire out. great kick.
Sahlman is a "strength" 800 runner. He won the national XC title. Strength 800 guys win with as close to even splits as possible. :52/:59 is outrageous. He could've won with :54/:55 splits. The fast 400 guys are the one's who run the first 400 in :52 & hang on for dear life.
The top two had different agendas. Salman was trying to set a record, do something extraordinary, Ricks was trying to win a race. Can't fault either runner, maybe before the season ends they will run "together" to set a truelly amazing mark.
Exactly, he went out way too hard, his splits were 51 and 59, if he went out in like a 53 or 54, then he would’ve had the strength to run another 54-55 thus breaking 1:50
Agreed…. keep going for IT. He‘ll real it in as age and training (better yet, non-injury!) make him stronger! You can’t get to the other side without swimming into deeper waters. All that having been said, my hats OFF to the victor! It was WELL DESERVED!
First 200 in 25 said it all.....can't hold that pace, but a gutsy try for a tough front runner. "Grats to all these guys....so many under 1:55.....and Ricks only a Jr!, and under 1:50
Go get 'em Aaron. Run for the future, who cares about this title. International titles is what a runner of your caliber should be aiming for. If an 800 guy wants to run 1:43s he has to train/attempt to run 1:43s. I applaud the Ingebritzen-like front running.
@@king-qi2ks so? Who cares? I want every young American kid to run for the future, to be aggressive. Might Ricks have run a second faster if he had gone out with Sahlman? We'll never know because he didn't try.
he was the national xc champion and he has a good chance to break the 800 national record, which he tried to do in that race, but he just didn’t have enough left at the end

Ricks had a lot of patience
He went out like he was running a 400M. He needs to accelerate to speed and coast a little.. His engine is tops but he needs to tune his wheels.

The final kick that he had in the end and how relaxed he looked throughout the race makes it look like he could run way faster.

Aaron was way too hyped up man he went out way too hard, it’s ok he’ll learn

He’s not trying to pace it perfectly he is purposely going out harder than he should these races don’t matter to him
3:03 watch out for that tow truck!!
Sahlman went out way too fast, if he would’ve stayed with Xai Ricks we all know he has the leg speed to outkick him if he didn’t go out so hard.
This
He’s literally retarded going out in 51. The hell does he think he’s gonna do, come back in 53 and run a 1:44?
ricks is a sub 11 sprinter and sahlman clearly isnt, bad take
Sahlman didn’t. Ricks ran 1:49.19. We shall see if both athletes stay healthy. We should be thankful for the race, and both athletes being healthy.
Nope.. clearly don’t know what Xai is capable of. He has way more speed than Aaron.

Lap 1 - 51, Lap 2 - 59 for Sahlman

fr it will help him in the future
Ricks will still be the better runner in the future

How to run uphill faster?
Insane 👏🏾
Gabe Rodriguez is him
Why would that guy leading come out so fast...jeez

@@josmurphy im sure he'll figure out how to run an effecient race
@@repent2jesus433 he knows how to run an efficient race but thats not what he’s trying to do
Fast 400 sheesh
Ricks kept his form and made it look easy. Sahlman was struggling the last two hundred meters. I think he went out too fast.
aronn sahlman with a bit more indurance would be crazy fr
sahlman is the nxn champ ❓💀
