Hi Matt, I have serial #0001 and helped with some feature design. MPE is a major feature here, and I've used E7 with an Embodme Erae Touch MPE controller in a soundtrack for an upcoming horror movie with actors from the Marvel Universe and the TV series Breaking Bad. I also use this in my music with Jon Anderson of the band YES. What the Erae Touch lets you do that the Linnstrument does not is slide notes vertically, so you can do huge multi-octave slides with ease and get some very spacey sounds with E7. Guido Salaya of GS Music is a major up and coming synth genius, I introduced him to Dave Smith for an inspirational conversation before Dave's passing. Matt, I wanted to thank you for making a great video to show off the E7 and expose your audience to it. I have no financial interest in the sales of E7, but just want to support a young genius synth designer getting the exposure he deserves!
Dear Matt! As an argentinian first let me say: "Thank you very much for your kindful concepts about Argentina and argentinians at the begining of the video!"❤ During the last two or three years I became a regular follower of your UA-cam channel and of course I'm agree about your top skill playing piano, synths and keyboards. You are a genious!!! Your tips are very importants and useful for us (simply mortals), but these time you surprised me with an argentino synth!!! 😃 I really don't know about its existence, but see it, hear it and hear your considerations about it make me feel full of proud, and it looks so argento too!!! 🇦🇷 Perhaps those feelings couldn't be easy to understand for people from other nationalities, used to more rational things, but at this side of the world things usually are more difficult and impredictables than they should must be, so the proud I feel now it's huge!!! My best regards from 🇦🇷 obviously, and thank you again dear Matt!!
Love the LFO keyboard tracking. More synths should have this! I think I remember Steve Porcaro mentioning this as one of the "secrets" of the fat and organic sounding pads of the Oberheim Xpander. Great video as always!! Cheers from Berlin
Something to note, it is also MPE compatible. It works extremely well with the linnstrument. I have had this synth for about six months, and I play it with a linnstrument. Either way its a great synth and the more attention the better.
Sounds incredible. Always cool to find those lesser known newer gems. Love that they gave it an extra voice over a typical 6 voice too for 7 note extended chord pads.
I remember seeing this synth prototype demo about 2 years ago when I was a guest on Ranzee's podcast back in 2021 and specifically said, " It has a real bite to it, that is missing from alot of polysynths these days and, commenting on my admiiration of the raw tone ", 2 years later today I stand by my words . Very well demonstrated Matt 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Yeah you would. This guy is burnt out. All he's got now is all that top-line crap, knowledge how to use it, but nothing in his sould to make anything complete.
Yeah I saw Miles Away cover this a little while ago. Has a very nice sound. Almost wish I’d found it before I got the Take 5, although the Take 5 is also an awesome synth.
it's a great one! I played one very recently and it's realy amazing, also agree on the 70s vibe, and i thinks its sound works very well with you Matt, just grat!
The patch played just after the 10 min mark is very Vangelis. The E7 sounds like it has some of the tonal characteristics of both the Prophet 5 and the OB-X
It sounds brighter than a Prophet 5 to my ears. For me, the inspiration seems to be a Prophet 6, with a Moog style filter. I think the filter sounds great and help is make Prophet 5 sounds, but open it up, and it's very fizzy on the high end. If you compare the E7 and P6's specs, they are very similar (Except for the filter).
Its Very very Musical sounding ,, but that just could be your playing Matt ! - I just took a look at their website and noticed they have a prototype called Uranus !!! I bet the bottom end on that things is off the chain !!!
If this was a clone of a Sequential, Moog or Roland synth - which would it be? It seems like a Phrophet 6 crossed with a Moog using the same components, or copies, but then adding enough differences to avoid getting in patent trouble (Like DinSync did when they sold the Re:303, instead of the parts). This could be the cheapest way to get the Prophet sound. The only thing is with the filter open on big chords, over You Tube's audio codec, it sounds distorted and fizzy (Like some Behringer clones).
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai I agree. I think the filter is the game changer with the E7 vs P6. 4 pole ladder, rather than 2 pole. The resonance is unique too, even if one sacrifices some bass, but it sounds like you don't need much. Thanks for the demo!
wow. I just wish it had a resonance HP filter, its such a great tool to make perfectly shaped sounds that fit in the mix. But i will consider this one.
This thing sounds great. A viable alternative to the Sequential Prophet 6 and OB-6/Trigon family of synthesizers. I wish it were 8 voices given its multitimbrality but it does have an audio input which is a cool bonus you don’t see in a lot of analog polysynths. I hope they find a Canadian distributor. The screen is a nice bonus compared to the three Sequential synths mentioned above. Re: clicky envelopes: it’s nice to have such quick envelopes when programming percussion sounds. Easy to dial out.
Don‘t understand why they didn’t implement an internal clock. But it seems to be the only drawback; it sounds gorgeous, for my ears much better than Trigon-6. I particularly like the number of voices: 7 is exactly what I mostly need for my chords. :)
Hello, Matt! Thanks for the demos! This synth sounds very lively. Especially for a DCO synth! It has great features but I think it's too pricey for the beginners or amateurs.
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai Yes, I was wrong. I've thought that it has DCOs because it has no any FM between oscillators. Only LFO->Osc.Freq. In my mind this abscence is more usual for DCOs (especially in old synths). As they has a different frequency control approach (ideally stable but depends on the master clock generator). But truly - it sounds more "like VCO". And a bit dirty triangle wave is usual for a saw-core VCO. I'll not explain the schematic details as I don't understand and don't remember them clearly :) The only thing I remember is that there may be (in some variant of a VCO) a trim pot which corrects the middle part of a triangle wave (because it's converted from a saw wave). And it's almost impossible to make it sound very accurate. And actually I like this quirck. Maybe the GS E7 developers decided to not make it "super clean" to leave a character to the sound.
Seeing an Argentine synth around the world makes me proud!!

Damn, sound sound design and mixing is just on another level!

The 7th voice is a very nice and original idea! 😍😍😉😉❤️❤️

How does it get 6 voices with 2 osc + 1 sub osc in an all analog synth? I haven’t reached that point in the video yet.
@@dazeja It has that Many oscillators and sub oscillators per voice. So it has seven voices of polyphony and technically 2 Osc and One Sub per Voice.
@@SessionsWithMike gotcha ,,,similar to the Prophet 10 with it's 2 osc per voice = 20 total osc.
GsE7 in perfect musical and visual tune with your beautiful adidas and eyes!

Perfect…. the E7 with a side of Lomo in Chimichurri sauce. I’m all in!
Matt is the Man! I am jealous beyond belief
Love my e7 - Number 49 - the current favourite in the studio. Great to hear your tones Matt, can't wait for the patches. Thanks a lot.
I always acknowledged Argentina for the rock music scene... This is such a lesser known part of them, which is very ASTOUNDING!
Everything sounds good when you play it .-)
wow, what a powerful sound! thx for introducing this monster synth
Wow - beautiful, thanks!
You mix so well :) great video. Argentina is lovely country, good to know they made this, I'm sure it will make them proud. nice vide of course

Wonderful Lyle Mays patch!

13:45 I really loved this bit where the visuals break apart as you unleash this fat little synth! Beautiful and epic! 😍Thank you Matt!
Love it! Both your playing, demo and the synth.

Excellent walk through of these different sound features while chord riffing for us synth heads!!!
Love this content, I watch these and lay my phone face down so I'm only listening. Always sounds amazing!
I have to do a trip to Argentina! I have checked this one out for a while but now since you showed how it works, GAS is on maximum level!

I'm team take 5, because of my reliance on the mod matrix... but do see the common ground
