SONY PS-LX520 *TONE ARM DROPPING HARD* *DROPPING TOO FAST* *NO DAMPING*

Many people have asked me about this problem on their Sony PS-LX500, LX510, LX520 turntables.
The tone arm drops so fast and hard that it bounces on the record.
I do not have this problem on my turntable, but I will run through the mechanics of the system and share my thoughts on what the problem could be.
Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer on this, but hopefully this video will help you on pinpointing the problem.

Any idea why my tone arm go down? The weight goes down like yours, but the actual needle arm won’t move. I must be missing a linkage but I can’t see where it might be.

Ouch, without seeing it is is hard to tell, make sure nothing is binding and no spring has come loose.
