The North Korean army on Monday (4/8) handed over the remains of four soldiers believed to have been Americans who died in the 1950-53 Korean War.
The handover marked the completion of the second successful mission by a ten-man team from the US Defence Department's POW/MIA Office (Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Office), who spent 20 days in North Korea searching known battle sites for the remains.

Atleast the NK soldiers respected the coffins and didnt just throw it over the border.
I guarantee most of them have a certain level of respect but you never know
If they throw the coffin then there would be world war lol
Every country army even if they were enemies still they respect fallen soldiers.

Military tradition
There was once a loyal soldier of the Philippines who died in Zomboanga City Siege by the Islamist in 2012 or 2013 (idk the exact year) but his last words are "I will not be cold if I die in the fighting, because they will blanket or cover me with a philippine flag or in Tágalog ( Hindi ako lalamigin kapag namatay ako sa gera kase kukumutan nila ako ng bandila ng Pilipinás.". Days Before dying from a rocket launcher from Moro National Liberation front. (Which is an Islamist separatist.) His last words really fascinated me. The idea of dying in a battle, but being blanketed with the national flag as an honor is really fascinating. He was willing to die. To protect and to preserve the country. Whilst the politicians only works to increase their wealth. This system really disgust me.
@أَحْمَد nope. The islamist escaped with human shields. Soldiers couldn't shoot them, and they got safe passage. Lol.

Servicemen, the world over, conduct themselves according to military standards. I have seen and read about their sense of brotherhood toward each other regardless of the uniform they wear. I am not surprised by the solemn, respectful and dignified manner of the North, South Korean servicemen.
Four more MIAs brought home. 🎗🥁🇺🇸🙏
@escorpiuser bodies depending on the state of decomposition and personal facts we're probably not identified. I believe that is done by a lab in Hawaii. Upon identification the families, relatives are notified. A note of Interest President Trump's visit to the Korean peninsula netted an additional hundred and fifty-two returned servicemen, in agreement.

That war is shameful to both side, either to the US or to China. All soldiers were forced to join the war. It's understandable that your grandfather did not even want to talk about it.
@@emmanuelsung I wouldn't say those two nations forced anything. The North Koreans started the war with an invasion of the South. The USSR, USA, China, South Korea, and others were all responding to a war rather than starting it.
@@Jake-rs9nq Yes, I agree with you, my grandfather told me that Mao warned Kim Il-sung not to cross the 38th Parallel, but he did not even listen. And I am not quite sure why the US even threw bombs across the border between China and North Korea, which caused China had to join into the war.

Note the "US Army Mortuary" so our bases in SK no doubt delivered them across border for the soldiers' remains.

If a South Korean or American soldier accidentally trips on the block on the ground and falls into North Korea, do they get arrested and never heard from again? I also wonder what would happen if the North Korean soldiers just kept walking into South Korea with the caskets. I guess they can stay, but I wonder what sort of skirmish might have happened during such an incident.
That's a good question let's hope it never happens
The person jumping the boarder would be sent back to avoid the repercussions. War and skirmish would ensue if one side would refuse to hand them back over, that's why NK soldiers come so close but don't defect. Of course there are other cases where the defection isn't obvious and the SK government can cover up and state that there was no soldier taken in (instead of saying that they died whereby they would need to provide evidence)
Basically if NK saw them defect and it was obvious they would demand them back, highly unlikely south korean government would go into a war over 1 soldier as it's not worth it. It's almost taunting for these soldiers as they are so close yet so far away at the same time because even if they tried they would get sent back immediately
@@Archive41024 many nk soldiers have defected. Nk can demand all they want. They won't get them back.
The big thing keeping the nk soldiers from defecting is the fate of any family they may have like brothers & sisters, mothers & fathers as well as wife & kids. They'll pay the price.
They get laugh at severly by NK soldiers
If you’re a South Korean then yes you will get arrested for 6 years, but if you are American you can Literally visit North Korea but you can’t look suspicious or you’ll get arrested too.
Got to respect the North Koreans for being respectful in this case. They didn't need to hand them over or even hand them over in such an honourbale way. This was a nice video.

Shoudve placed american flags over those coffins!
Was wondering about that too. Why a UN flag instead of an American flag. Korea was a UN operation, but still they should be covered by the flag of their own country on their journey home.
It might be something to do with the Coffins being handed over at this location as the huts in the background are UN huts designed for the peace talks. It also might be because it was the largest UN operation ever which involved nearly every country in UN. Tbh I don’t know but I’m sure they had the American flag over them when they got home. I for one would want the Union Jack in their coffins if they were British.
Because they fought under united nation peace keeping forces
Indian special forces were also deployed
Because they were all people who volunteered to fight for the UN.
It’s not a guaranteed that the remains were American or not.
What’s disturbing about this video is the flags on the Coffins. The flags should of been the United States Flags, NOT the UN!!!
