As a 75Kg Judo player with no real strength, I have to say it does stroke my ego a bit to see you lads gas out and struggle a bit with a sport I don´t suck at lol. Jokes aside, as you said, S&C is absolutely mandatory in my opinion in order to make progress and stay injury free. I came back to training after covid with 3-4 Kg of extra muscle, and stronger lifts, and not only did my judo improve a lot, but my injury rate dropped dramatically. I don´t really get nagging pains anymore, and only broke a pinky and injured my neck once (as Eoin said, it´s hard to keep it protected, though I do train it specifically). And even having shit strength (110 high bar squat, 140 DL, 90 Bench), I´m now one of the stronger guys at my dojo, and can go toe to toe with much heavier people than me. Can´t wait to see Fitz´s progress over the next few months, keep the great content coming lads! Loved your episode on Ono´s training and took some ideas from it.
@@kuhenelan Appreciate it man. I´m one of the stronger people at my gym, but having the internet as frame of reference shows how much stronger some people are
Having a randori and a roll with folk once a week is brilliant and this is making me want to get back to Judo for sure. You were both brill, solid footwork Eoin, great roly poly work Fitz. Guys, get good and strangle Tack Zelonger for us!
Depends on how many sessions of BJJ you do, also depends on your level of strength and conditioning right now. If you're not completely out of shape then you could do some damage with 2 S&C sessions and maybe 4 BJJ
It’s quite entertaining seeing you guys rationalise every minute detail of your experience, coming from someone who’s been doing it for over 6 years. Definitely all athletes should be doing some sort of S&C, but one thing I would say about your assessment of absolutely needing a lot of strength across the board is slightly unaware of the ‘meta’ of the sport across different weight categories, and even between gi and Nogi. The lighter weight divisions will often shy away from standing, and will often ‘pull guard’, trade leg locks and attempt to invert to the back position, all while sitting down. This contrasts with heavier divisions opting for wrestling, passing guard and standard positional dominance. (Possible pretentiousness here) You’ll find a lot of different teaching styles, much more varied than any other sport I’ve seen due to the technical nature of it. Often times pros will just do drilling only sessions, and have sparring only sessions too. You’ll also have ‘positional’ rounds, in which you’ll go live rolling within the constraints of achieving an objective from a certain position, E.g mount control. Great to see all the same! PS: we have no idea what to call ourselves either. It’s usually fighter/player/practitioner
I have a theory that weightlifters, bc of operating in strength speed so much and having such lower body strength, can hit harder p4p than any other strength athletes if taught proper punching mechanics.
Looking forward to seeing the Sikastani government pay homage to its predecessors by doing or watching some throwing at the old athletics track, the Cork City Sports International Athletics Meet in July next year will have some good old talent in it
eh, I went from Judo/traditional JuJitsu to weightlifting, but just because I couldn't find a convenient dojo when I moved to new cities. Also, I didn't want to go into BJJ.
Looking forward to the Zach and Sika boys rolling together crossover episode.
love to see a crossover of them all take on israetel for a laugh, a 250lb 5 ft 3 ball of muscle who also trains bjj

That's genuinely great to hear that you got some ideas from it 😀
I definitely don't think your numbers are "shit" by any stretch of the imagination.

We need the Sika Arsonist's Shark Tank rash guards immediately
Better get the normal merch out first 🤣
More vlogs & training vlogs. From fitz and eoin.

Ireland has a rich history of grappling, the great Collar and Ellbow style very similar to Judo and Catch Wrestling
Id love to see a grappling sesh with Clarence/Hadyn/Gabriel
Easily one of the most humbling sports of all time . Great for you mind. Not only do you learn to defend yourself it’s free therapy
Also reminds me I need to do a lot more core work
Ooh, it's cool seeing you guys trying out sports! It'd be cool to see you guys try out boxing 😁
My history of concussions basically means this will never happen! You'll have to ask Gurph for that
Gurph will not be doing striking any time soon 🤣

16:39 He has the power
you should check out the daisy fresh series on flo grappling excellent stuff and another great vid as usual lads
What would you think a good balance between BJJ vs strength vs conditioning/engine building for 9-5 office worker looking to get better at jiu jitsu?

OH THE CONTENT
We’ve lost the lads to the BJJ bug, it’s taken zack, now the lads, only Seb is immune.
I hope Clarence doesn’t get any ideas
guys ,congratulations
Glad to hear everything is fixed for Gurph...bar the soul 😂
Can we get a program to fix the soul?!
Hitman training block
I'm not so sure whether the lads were joking about invading Telandernistan, the timing of this vlog is suspiciously belligerent
I'm not saying it's a threat...but..
Juggling is good cardio and a different kind of skill and completely injury free :)
The breathing got so heavy so quick 🤣
Be careful. Jiu jitsu will steal your heart.
Love bjj. You should also try Judo

I could see Gurph doing decent with shot, but Fitz is built just like a good discus or hammer thrower... Hope they give it a try eventually!
@@patsquanch thoroughly agree king
You should try training at the Valley of the deadly camouflaged arsonist pitbulls gym, they have some very good instructors
Lol, that was fun to watch
I think I'm the only person in history to go from BJJ to weightlifting ..... everyone seems to do the reverse 😂
I’m in the same club as you brother.
