    Hi Kathrine! I followed your recipe to the tee and made the muruku last evening, except I used salted egg yolk powder since I have it. I even have the same mould as yours. But that was the hard part. I had to use my innermost strength to force the dough out. Next time I'll use the turning type of mould, you see, I have many types of muruku moulds. I'll also use a big pot of oil because it took me a long time and a few top ups to finish frying. The prep was easy enough, the frying part was brutal. Anyway, I took some to my neighbourhood coffee shop for some regulars to try. Everybody liked it, one even asked whether he can buy from me. Hahaha! Thank you so much for your recipe, it was a resounding success!!!

      How much of the powder did you substitute please? Why is the frying part brutal?

      I used 80g salted egg yolk powder. You nay want to add 10g or 20g more. Try first and adjust next time if you want. It was brutal because the dough was too hard, got to use so much strength, although later I added a bit more water. Still, need a lot of force, better to use the turning type if mould. Easier and faster.

    Never thought of using salted egg yolk for murukku. Goes well with curry leaves 🍃 I can almost smell the flavour!
