DarthWill3 No, Andres is right. It's "But I fear the wrong monster's released..." It's chilling & on-point & I love it so much. It may be one of my favorite lyrics in the show. It's a small moment, but so dang good. I keep listening to this version of the song over & over. (And I adore the original movie soundtrack & the Broadway show is in my top 3-5 scores of all time.)
Gaston: "He poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague onto our houses!" Mob: "He did?" Gaston: "No! But are we just gonna' wait around until he does?!"
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question, but I fear the wrong monster's released..." LeFou makes an excellent point here. This line really brings up how there are a lot of opposites in this movie. The Beast (at this moment in time) is kind and gentle and he just happens to look like a monster, but Gaston is a real monster in human form who preys on uncertain minds and roams freely.
Yes! That's why I loved the line! It reminded me of my favorite line from Hunchback of Notre Dame: "Now here is a riddle to guess if you can, who is the monster and who is the man?" (referring to the "monstrous" Quasimodo and the "righteous" Judge Frollo)
'Turned into?' The man began as a walking poster child for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Lefou even soothes his rage by invoking his happiest memories: killing enemies in war and proving his own martial superiority.
There's a line (albeit a thin one) between "narcissistic butthole" and "actual, psychopathic evil monster". Gaston doesn't cross that line right away (chose "butthole" as my choice of insult in case any kids wander by to watch this)
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong monster's released." This is now my favorite line. Lefou's starting to have misgivings about all this and he knows things are about to get worse from there.
spiritgirl41192 "You can bet they all will follow, 'cause in times like this, they'll do just as I say!" I like this as well, since Gaston is admitting he is manipulating the villagers.
spiritgirl41192 YES!!! Same here. I keep listening to this song on repeat, & I love it so much. And that lyric in particular. It's so chilling & perfect. And marauteatime, yes - I love that lyric, too. It really goes to the heart of the song. That whole added section (4 lines?) just gives me chills because it's about the mob mentality & how dangerous a charismatic leader can be with that.
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong monster's released." What a change!! this is totally different from the original and has an even bigger impact when LeFou is implied to like Gaston in this movie. To go from there to recognizing his evil is as big of a change as Belle learning to love the Beast.
I think lefeou is realizing the beast is cursed, so when is talking about the wrong monster released, he is talking about the enchantress being the real monster
I can't believe I'm saying this but I think this version of the Mob Song is even better than the original. It just adds much more character to Gaston (more of a fearsome villain) and lefou just showed us a redeeming quality
I like Lefou's line, 'There's a beast running wild, there's no question; but I fear the wrong monster's released' but I would have changed his unspoken reason to being so desperate for a friend that he clung to the man who saved his life in battle out of gratitude. But Gaston is so self-absorbed he saw it not, and is annoyed by Lefou.
Yeah, watching the trailers and sneak peaks I've been thinking he's gonna turn by the end. We don't really know what happened to LeFou after Gaston's death at the end of the 1991 movie, so they could give him a redemption at the end of this one.
I really like this movie's LeFou compared to the original's. This one isn't just a mindless lackey and is a real person slowly realizing the man he has admired and idolized is actually a cold, heartless bastard. The line "We don't like what we don't understand in fact it scares us and this monster is mysterious at least" is just amazing.
See the thing is, his role is a lackey. This movie is meant to be a remake, but not changing anything, so imo this is just modern society forcing changes that dont rlly belong.
super.sam_the_man basically, through out the movie, Gaston goes from a guy who’s a bit of a vain asshole, to a complete psychopath hell bent on killing the beast to win Belles affection. Lefou from the beginning was Gaston’s best friend, believing he could do no wrong. At around this time, he realizes he’s wrong. “But I fear the wrong monsters released” means Lefou is thinking that the beast isn’t the monsters, but Gaston is the true monster
"We don't like what we don't understand, in fact, it scares us!" The most relevant line ever. Describes humanity perfectly and ironically relevant to the theaters refusing to show the movie.
The beginning of the song reminds me of Savages from Pocahontas when they sing "This will be the day. This will be the morning." Aaahhh I'm loving these classic Disney vibes!
Josephine Stiles this is so random, but i'm a show choir kid. i went to a competition this past weekend and this show choir in ohio did a mashup of savages from pocahontas and the mob song....i got chills up and down my spine!
I have to admit when I first saw the casting I was skeptical about Luke Evans. But after hearing this I think it might be damn near perfect casting. It's clear he's immersed in this role and it pays off. He adds such a malevolence to the character of gaston. Far more than the cartoon version who was more of an ignorant brute. In this one you can clearly hear how sinister he really is when talking about the people "doing as I say". Shows that all he cares about is power and asserting his will over the masses. And the fact that LeFou recognizes this adds even a more brilliant element to it. Well done by all involved, especially Evans.
[VILLAGER] We're not safe until he's dead! [VILLAGER] He'll come stalking us at night! [VILLAGER] Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite! [VILLAGER] He'll wreck havoc on our village if we let him wander free! [GASTON] So it's time to take some action boys, it's time to follow me! Through the mist, through the wood, through the darkness and the shadows It's a nightmare, but it's one exciting ride! Say a prayer then we're there at a drawbridge of a castle, and there's something truly terrible inside! It's a beast! He's got fangs, razor sharp ones! Massive paws, killer claws for the feast! Hear him roar, see him foam but we're not coming home til' he's dead! Good and dead! [GASTON, MOB] Kill the beast! [MOB] Light your torch! Mount your horse! [GASTON] Screw your courage to the sticking place! [MOB] We're counting on Gaston to lead the way! [GASTON] Call it war, call it threat! You can bet they all will follow, for at times like this they'll do just as I say! [LEFOU] There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong Monster's released… [MOB] Sally forth! Tally ho! Grab your sword! Grab your bow! Raise them up and here we go! We don't like what we don't understand, in fact it scares us! And this monster is mysterious at least! Bring your guns, bring your knives save your children and your wives! We'll save our village and our lives! We'll kill the beast! [GASTON, MOB] Hearts ablaze, banners high! We go marching into battle! Unafraid although the danger just increased! [MOB] Raise the flag, sing the song! Here we come, we're fifty strong And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong! Let's kill the beast! Kill the beast! Kill the beast! Hope you guys enjoy, it took me a little while to get some of the lyrics. This, "Gaston", and "Evermore" have to be my top three favorite songs from the movie! 💜
my favorite thing about this version, besides everyone's voices, is just how epic the orchestration is. The size of the orchestra for this version sounds massive and all the songs sound way better from an instrumental stand point than any other version I've heard before.
Exactly. The song is my favorite in this musical and with well setted strings and perfect percussion its even better, and than there's that awesome brass srsly I love this much
This is freaking amazing! Luke's voice is awesome and between "Belle", "Gaston" and the "Mob Song" you can hear Gaston's transformation from the hero, to humilated and jealous, to here just plain evil. GOOSEBUMPS! Can't wait to see this in theatres. Gaston is my all time favorite character and I think they cast Luke Evans perfectly! ❤
Too bad while "There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong Monster's released" is playing, were focusing on them front horseriding
It's just the right kind of shrill almost angry panic that really felt missing from the original. The only angry one in the original one was Gaston. It needed more anger and the delivery of this line was just great.
That's a new character they added; a sharp-tongued fishwife named Clothilde, who's a menace when it comes to demeaning Belle and her father. But she's revealed to be Cogsworth's wife at the end.
This song is the point where Gaston turns from a butthurt arrogant narcissist into an actual evil being. I believe it has to do with Belle calling him a monster and so a monster he will be. Despite me generally liking the more iconic songs in this movie , the mob song has always had a special place in my heart lol
In this movie SPOILER ALERT >>>>>>>>>>he also tied belles father to a tree, to be eaten by wolves....and..that was before this song...so id say he was darn right evil from THAT point on
What kinda scares me is how blindly they're following Gaston - "We're counting on Gaston to lead the way." Also, how sad and scary it is that *only* LeFou in this song is the only one to doubt Gaston.
Oh gosh, adding LeFou lines about suddenly realizing who the real monster is... when he was the one praising Gaston and gave him a whole song! Wow!! This is so sinister and I'm so excited! I loved The Mob Song in the original and this is just as good 🎵❤️
I feel like they took a great direction with Gaston in this version. In the original, Gaston was just a douche the whole way through, but he was made more of a bad guy due to the circumstances around him. This new Gaston is WAY more malicious, for instance when he PUNCHES OUT MAURICE, and is so corrupted that Lefou, his greatest admirer (in more ways than one), turns against him. Also, we now know that the reason why everyone adores Gaston is because he's a war hero.
Oh my god, this is amazing! I liked all songs to various degree but this one BLEW ME AWAY!!! The song is so dynamic and Gaston sounds extra evil and manipulative, you can hear Lefou being unsure about the whole plan, and the chorus of the mob just gives me chills! This is PERFECT!
DisneyEverAfter ~ April Lilly I love how Gaston admits he is maniplulating the villagers and how LeFou admits there is a beast, but it may not be who or what they think, hinting at Gaston.
selinapoochie "You can bet they all will follow, 'cause in times like this they'll do just as I say!" I believe he is saying this to LeFou. This is him admitting he is maniplulating the villagers. LeFou's response, "There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear, the wrong monster's been released." is him seeing Gaston no longer as a hero and is questioning they're friendship.
LeFou's character was so dynamic. When he said his line at 1:17 , it gave me chills because it showed that he was going along with Gaston but was beginning to question things (considering Gaston the true monster). I love when lesser characters get more character development in adaptations and all! :D
I don't know - even though I'm a girl this is one of the songs I kill with my voice (some parts deeper than Luke) and I always have the whole "I don't want to sing as the villain" vibes.
@@hannahc3317 must be that it depends on who your talking about me for example when I start auditioning for roles I will usually go for the main villain if I can
@@chadpeterson5698 I guess playing the villain can be fun. This was the me before I heard "You''ll Be Back" from Hamilton and started singing along with King George. 2 years can change a person.
@@hannahc3317 yeah I should know since I played the role of Cassius in Julius Caesar when my English class got to that and I was considered the best when acting things out and speaking the parts and I did that this year in fact yep I'm 16 and I also played Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet last year and when this whole Coronavirus thing blows over and the next school year comes along I'm taking drama class
@@chadpeterson5698 I'm 17. I feel bad for the theatre kids in my school this year. I auditioned this year but didn't get it. I feel terrible for all the work everyone has done since November and now can't perform because gatherings of over 5 people are banned where I live. I definitely understand why this is "the new normal" to quote Canada's prime minister, but there's still that disappointment. I'm in grade 12 and I was hoping that my last few months would be better than this.
_Call it war, call it threat_ _You can bet they all will follow_ _For in times like this, they'll do just as I say!_ Gaston's a lot more deceptive and less sincere than Mark Antony as a rabble rouser. Even "Friends, Romans, Countryman" doesn't have the same amount of emotional venom as this song.
I love that they added LeFou's extra line, as well as Luke Evan's emphasis on how manipulative Gaston really is. But another one of my favorite parts is when the castle servants join the song. I love that their courage in fighting against people that are much stronger than them is recognized here. Even if there's a chance that they fully become the objects they look like, they still fight a difficult war that might not be won.
LeFou: There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong monster's released. And that is how you adapt a character without completely, unnecessarily rewriting his entire personality/motivations. LeFou remains loyal to Gaston throughout the rest of the film, as he did in the animated film, but this shows his humanity. He's not just a goofy sidekick who hero-worships Gaston because that's what the plot says he should do. This one simple little line shows he has doubts and sees Gaston for who he is. Brilliant.

Hearts ablaze, banners high We go marching into battle Unafraid although the danger's just increased Raise the flag, sing the song Here we come, we're fifty strong And fifty Frenchmen can't be wrong Let's kill the Beast! Kill the Beast! Kill the Beast!
To me this is honestly the villains song. "Gaston" is portrayed as the villains song, but at the time, he wasn't the villain, he was a guy who got rejected, but this song is when you truly see how gaston has turned into the villain, which even LeFou pointed out, who praised him during Gaston.
I'd told myself not to listen to the soundtrack before seeing the movie... of course I couldn't resist and this song, which is the one I was most looking forward to, gives me no regrets. I mean holy shit!! Luke Evans is killing it!
Same thing. I'm caving ='D But I refuse to listen to this one at all costs (since it's also my favorite XD) It's great that everyone only has good things to say about it though, I didn't have high hopes after hearing Gaston (the song).
Gaston: if I didn't know better, I'd think you had feelings for this monster. Belle: He's no monster, Gaston. You are! Gaston: She is as crazy as the old man. I've seen and hunt wild beasts and i know what he will capable to do. The Beast will come for your children. He'll come after them in the night. And we will not be safe until his head is mounted on my wall! I SAY WE KILL THE BEAST.
Frank Lesher Belle: You want proof? She me the Beast! There is your proof! LeFou: Well, it IS hard to argue with that. Gaston: This is sorcery! Look at this beast. Look at his fangs! His claws! Belle: No! Don't be afraid. He is gentle and kind. Gaston: She is clearly under a spell. If I didn't know better, I'd say she even CARED for this monster. Belle: The Beast would never hurt anyone. Gaston: We can't have her running off to warn the Beast. Lock her up. That creature will curse us all if we don't stop him! Well, I say we KILL THE BEAST! *The Mob Song begins*
I will admit that this version of the Mob Song is much more impactful in the instruments. The bass instruments really hit hard and pack a punch at the beginning especially when they build up the song! And Luke Evan’s singing really hit it!
1:14 - "There's a Beast running wild there's no question, but I fear the wrong monster's released..." I find this line extremely interesting. Lefou has always been Gaston's biggest fanboy, blind to anything bad about him and following along and supporting whatever Gaston does. But this line seems to change our perspective of him. Could it be that Lefou actually sees how Gaston is behaving and realizes it's wrong? I will be very pleased if this is the case because it means they have taken a background character and given him much more depth.
No i think what lefou is talking about is, how there are witches going around turning people into monsters, so the victims are the wrong monsters and the true monster is the witch
All these songs are giving me chills! Everytime I watch the trailer, I get chills. When I watch the movie, my god I'm gonna have goosebumps throughout all! This song is totally epic!!!!! Saw the original in theaters when I was 4 years old!
I have a feeling Luke Evans is going to own this movie. At first I was excited to see Emma as Belle but now I can't wait to see the movie because of Luke and Josh's characters. Also, I am LOVING the soundtrack, especially this one and the Gaston song.
Gaston is actually a fascinating character study. If Belle and the Beast weren't the protagonists, Gaston is what makes an amazing protagonist; courageous, charismatic and a little arrogant. But the twist is that Gaston is loved by literally everyone but Belle, so the mix of pride and his already existant arrogance makes him a shallow jerk who wants the one thing he can't have. Since he's the town hero while being attractive, he could easily stir up a mob of people; meanwhile Belle's father, a "crazy" old man, gets thrown out in the snow when he's in a massive panic. Gaston is seen as an okay villain, but I see him as a really interesting character altogether.
I love the addition of LeFou's line. It sounds like they added more depth to his character. As if he's starting to question the monster that Gaston is turning into. God I can't wait for this movie ☺️
robbie distasio he's much more ruthless and aggressive witb attempting to get belle, and i love how it's a slow decent. he starts as just an entitled tough guy and through the film becomes worse and worse
Honestly I find Gaston more of a funny villain in the Disney version. I mean he is evil but I find his vanity and arrogance hilarious. Definitely darker in this.
completely and utterly impressed. The mob song in the original was so iconic in the movie, but they did so well with it here. It really makes you feel intimidated.
LeFou's line is by far my favorite. You can see that he cares about Gaston and is unhappy with who he is unraveling to be. I always liked poor LeFou, but in the live-action. Dang. So much better!
well at least king Stefan from Maleficent was a good villain and in live action Cinderella the villain was the grand duke with the step mother and step sisters anastasia and drizella and lefou he changed sides during the fight scene in the live action beauty and the beast
It benefits from a much higher production budget, as well as way more modern recording equipment. It's SO well emoted, too. EXCEPT for the female voice at the beginning that's been autotuned so inhumanely it's comical.
No one leaves an old man to die in the woods like Gaston No one abandons their best friend like Gaston No one is more of a prick in the live action adaption like Gaston~
Alan Menken definitely improved this from the animation version. The orchestration just gave me chills. And Luke Evans did so well in this as well, and great cast voice ensemble as well.
I honestly enjoy this version better than the original. The Mob Song was my favorite - always has and will. To see a new, darker turn to it greatly pleases me. The intro alone just gives me chills! I was a bit skeptic with them casting Luke Evans as Gaston, but honestly? They couldn't have picked a better person to play a live-action Gaston. Luke truly got into the character, especially with this song. His voice alone is so chilling and powerful that it is simply amazing! I also love the addition line "There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear that the wrong monster is released". To me, choosing that for LeFou was beyond perfect! This song in the animated version was simply a mob song, but has now been ultimately turned by Luke's singing and that one line alone. It was the perfect transition of who the real monster was as well as further adding a new chilling level to this amazing song. It's more theatrical, which I very much love! Hats off to you, Luke Evans! Ya managed to bring a new level of scary to this song and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.
Riah from The City of Flowers that is the great thing about this film. They have a lot of stage actors who enunciate. At 31 years old, I can finally say I understood all the words. Lol
The minor tone is making it sound impressive like I can imagine him acting in this scene!😮 There's a bit of alteration on the lyrics on verse 2 but it is a great one through the sound from the 3rd verse showing deeper tones through quieter chants then to loud sounds as they are pouncing like scary savages and for the enchanted objects, it seems great!
Watching the animated version, this song never failed to give me chills. And then I saw this version in the theatre and it just gave me more chills. Well done.
In "Belle" and "Gaston" Gaston sings in cocky gallant hero type way, but here he drops all pretense of good and gallantry and sings with a sinister and malice tone...aka who he was all along.
Oh my lord, I love this so much. Now I want to hear them remake all the animated villain songs: "Poor Unfortunate Souls" (The Little Mermaid), "Friends on the Other Side" (The Princess and the Frog), "Be Prepared" (The Lion King0, "Savages" (Pocahontas), "Hellfire" (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), etc. It would be, needless to say, BEYOND epic.
Okay, I know people disagree but I think it's vry clear why gaston does all this: 1. We was the leader of the army years ago, thats also why all the villagers loved him (and because he is hot) 2. There wasn't a war in many years so he wanted some action, he says in the song 'It's a nightmare but it's one exiting ride' and he says 'Call it war, call it threat!' He thinks: finally a war again now I can do the only thing I'm good at 3. He is angry because why is the only girl that gives him "that sense of je ne sais quoi'" also the only girl that don't love him. 4. He's also angry at th beast because he locked Belle, his "future wife" 5. the whole village count on him to save the village because he is the big army leader and the people are affraid 6. He is a person who makes quick decisions, he goes on his instinct. 7. If you think of a beast, I'm sure you don't think he can be kind and honest. If you saw him, you would probably try to hurt or kill him or you run away. I think 7 reasons is enough. Btw, English is not my language so if it is't very good....
"It's time to foolllooowwee meeeee! " I simply love that line. He sounds so powerful there. Beautiful singing voice. Luke Evans was perfect for Gaston:)
Alan Menken said that this song was a metaphor when Howard Ashman wrote it. During that time, he was terribly-ill with AIDS, the Beast was the dreadful disease and he was trying to kill that mysterious Beast inside his dying body. Alan said he felt the meaning of this song and learned that there is really something going on.
Okay, Luke really plays up the evil,in this. His voice isn't as deep, but this plays his manipulative side
Dejay Page his voice is perfect!!
Dejay Page Exactly what I was thinking! There's more malice in his voice than the original.
Carla Rosado Rodriguez it's wonderful too just like the 1994
I know! My heart was pounding! :D
Well as I told my friends, if he could play Dracula/Vlad in Dracula Untold, then he can play Gaston lol. I can't WAIT to see him in this movie!!
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong Monster's released..." I actually like this line...
I think it's "the _real_ monster's released."
DarthWill3 No, Andres is right. It's "But I fear the wrong monster's released..."
It's chilling & on-point & I love it so much. It may be one of my favorite lyrics in the show. It's a small moment, but so dang good. I keep listening to this version of the song over & over. (And I adore the original movie soundtrack & the Broadway show is in my top 3-5 scores of all time.)
DarthWill3 no, they're right, it's "wrong" monster
I didn't catch that before. What a great addition to the song.
yes, when he sang that part in the movie, I got chills.
Gaston: "He poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague onto our houses!"
Mob: "He did?"
Gaston: "No! But are we just gonna' wait around until he does?!"
Walter Kovacs wasn't that spongebob bubble buddy?
Gaston: I say we storm the castle!
*Mob storms the castle*
Villager: Now what?
Gaston/Mob: Kill the beast!
nopenopenope somuchnope Lumiere: Wait, don't waste your senseless violence on him. It's that enchantress that's to blame.
I bursted out laughing! Made my night!
I see what you did there 😂😂
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question, but I fear the wrong monster's released..."
LeFou makes an excellent point here. This line really brings up how there are a lot of opposites in this movie. The Beast (at this moment in time) is kind and gentle and he just happens to look like a monster, but Gaston is a real monster in human form who preys on uncertain minds and roams freely.
SkyWingFeather I love this
SkyWingFeather this moment in the theater I literally stopped breathing and blinking and just stared. I love this part sooo much
Hi Gielser Me too.
Yes! That's why I loved the line! It reminded me of my favorite line from Hunchback of Notre Dame: "Now here is a riddle to guess if you can, who is the monster and who is the man?" (referring to the "monstrous" Quasimodo and the "righteous" Judge Frollo)
not to mention Le Fou (translation: the fool) is actually smart for once.
You know it's bad when the person who first sang praise of Gaston, is now saying he's turned into a monster.
I totally agree! He's got more dimensions now! I really like this version of Lefou a lot!
Yes it is. Lefu knew that Gaston was the real monster.
Not all characters need to be overdevelopped. Lefou had more charisma as a secondary character.
Gaston doesn't cross that line right away

They flipped Gaston and Lefou's inner character. It really makes it weird now.
spiritgirl41192 my favorite line in this song!!
spiritgirl41192 It really gives a sense of depth, doesn't it?
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong monster's released."
What a change!! this is totally different from the original and has an even bigger impact when LeFou is implied to like Gaston in this movie. To go from there to recognizing his evil is as big of a change as Belle learning to love the Beast.

Real***
you said it.
GabeCastro I honestly never felt romantic vibes from him. I saw someone who admired the wrong person, not necessarily in a romantic setting
Yeah, he outright admits his hard on, because he can lead people into a fight.
Lefou (aka the fool) is gay and has not redeeming qualities.
Facts.

I like that part too
Lefou sounds concerned with the path they are taking...
Yeah, watching the trailers and sneak peaks I've been thinking he's gonna turn by the end. We don't really know what happened to LeFou after Gaston's death at the end of the 1991 movie, so they could give him a redemption at the end of this one.
Lau I believe he ends up at the party at the end.
Trevor Cutler he is good at the end.
What's the line he says? I fear the wrong monster is released?? Is he talking about Gaston?
selinapoochie "There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong monster's released."
I like the little hint of Lefou realizing Gaston is a nasty guy here.

Actually in the sing along at Epcot LeFou is more involved behind the scenes.
See the thing is, his role is a lackey. This movie is meant to be a remake, but not changing anything, so imo this is just modern society forcing changes that dont rlly belong.

It's become one of my all time favourite movie quotes.
Firstly, what does that mean? And second....uh ooooooooohhhhhhh
super.sam_the_man basically, through out the movie, Gaston goes from a guy who’s a bit of a vain asshole, to a complete psychopath hell bent on killing the beast to win Belles affection. Lefou from the beginning was Gaston’s best friend, believing he could do no wrong. At around this time, he realizes he’s wrong. “But I fear the wrong monsters released” means Lefou is thinking that the beast isn’t the monsters, but Gaston is the true monster
@@dannypreklas nope, lefou is relizing the real monster is the crazy lady who turned a boy into a monster

I'm a strange way, this gives me both "Be Prepared" and "This Is Halloween" vibes lol but I LOVE IT SO MUCH
Veronica Lloyd You do know that "This is Halloween" isn't a villain song my friend
But it does have a similar creepy yet stimulating vibe in their chords.
Daniel Oleszek I do know that haha but 1:32-1:50 totally made me think of it with the music and the fast whisper-y signing
Veronica Lloyd True my friend very true
That's what I love about the more darker/villainous songs of disney. If they can make me panic or send chills than they are doing it right.
WOW, this is scary.
Luke Evans did a great job here.
In some part he reminds me of Scar's song (Be Prepared)

"We don't like what we don't understand, in fact, it scares us!"
The most relevant line ever. Describes humanity perfectly and ironically relevant to the theaters refusing to show the movie.
Bobsuruncle Mum It would've removed the tension of their approach to the castle if it was left in the film. Good thing it's still on the soundtrack.
PowerRangersFan how?
Bobsuruncle Mum Watch Flicks and the City's video about scenes that were deleted from this film.
PowerRangersFan yassah
PowerRangersFan it said that but still don't know. How would it kill the tension you think? It's so relevant too bad it was cut.
I love love love Le Fou's addition. It just added more to this character and cemented that he wasn't that mindlessly following Gaston as you'd think.
I totally agree. In the song "Gaston", Lefou was also paying the people to admire Gaston.
Le Fou was the best bit of the movie.
Imagine if that was Olaf being pushed around by Gaston.
oh god yes................/.
Yeah it does make you think about it, he had his own tastes the whole movie and was constantly dismissed by Gaston
The beginning of the song reminds me of Savages from Pocahontas when they sing "This will be the day. This will be the morning." Aaahhh I'm loving these classic Disney vibes!
Josephine Stiles exactly what I thought
Alan Menken did the music for both movies thats probably why.
Alanna Tremblay Alan Menken writes the music for pretty much every Disney movie ever.... but not all of them.
Josephine Stiles this is so random, but i'm a show choir kid. i went to a competition this past weekend and this show choir in ohio did a mashup of savages from pocahontas and the mob song....i got chills up and down my spine!

"Bring out the prisoner!"
1:00 Gaston lied that books are boring because he secretly reads Shakespeare.
da96103 He doesn't say that in this movie.
marauteatime "screw your courage to the sticking place" is a reference to a famous line from Macbeth
Margaret Taylor I know. I thought he was referencing the animated film, because in that he doesn't read. In this, Gaston never says he doesn't read.
da96103 That's exactly what I thought when I rewatched the original a few months ago!
In this version he says he reads, just not the books that Belle likes
I have to admit when I first saw the casting I was skeptical about Luke Evans. But after hearing this I think it might be damn near perfect casting. It's clear he's immersed in this role and it pays off. He adds such a malevolence to the character of gaston. Far more than the cartoon version who was more of an ignorant brute. In this one you can clearly hear how sinister he really is when talking about the people "doing as I say". Shows that all he cares about is power and asserting his will over the masses. And the fact that LeFou recognizes this adds even a more brilliant element to it. Well done by all involved, especially Evans.
Fun story, I didnt look at the cast I Just heard he'd be in the movie and all I could think of was please be Gaston :D

Correction:"Hearts ablaze...... danger just increased" is sang by the 'people' in the castle, not the mob
Quinson Hon, In the original the castle servants do sing that part. However, in this version I believe it's the mob singing it.
It sounds like the castle staff, and they are listed as being part of this song, so that part is not sung by the mob.
my favorite thing about this version, besides everyone's voices, is just how epic the orchestration is.
GOOSEBUMPS! The new voice they added at the beginning "hell wreck havoc on our village if we let him wander free" is awesome and an epic addition to the mood.
Ummm.... The line is in the original song...
Exactly, they changed the gender to a woman and I love it!

Luke Evans in general as Gaston ( IN MY OPINION) was better than the original since he sounded more menacing and more subtle manipulator all at once.
Who was supposed to be offended by this...? Exactly...?

What kinda scares me is how blindly they're following Gaston - "We're counting on Gaston to lead the way." Also, how sad and scary it is that *only* LeFou in this song is the only one to doubt Gaston.
Oh gosh, adding LeFou lines about suddenly realizing who the real monster is... when he was the one praising Gaston and gave him a whole song! Wow!! This is so sinister and I'm so excited! I loved The Mob Song in the original and this is just as good 🎵❤️
Lefou wasn't flat in the original. He was a psychopath. Changing him to a starstruck guy with misgivings near the end... It's meh.
Lord Fawful was her name not plumette in the original as well?
Lord Fawful Yeah, I noticed that too. WEIRD lol
Lord Fawful it's a about time someone mentions house of mouse!
meggiemufin also guys remember that Lefou stopped fighting during the mob castle invasion and talked to ms potts about how he has changed sides

DisneyEverAfter ~ April Lilly My thoughts exactly! Out of all the songs I heard, this one is just amazing!
selinapoochie "You can bet they all will follow, 'cause in times like this they'll do just as I say!" I believe he is saying this to LeFou. This is him admitting he is maniplulating the villagers.
LeFou's response, "There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear, the wrong monster's been released." is him seeing Gaston no longer as a hero and is questioning they're friendship.
Awesome thank you!
Man, this actually sounds more terrifying than the original. Luke Evens is really killing it!

Gaston's a lot more deceptive and less sincere than Mark Antony as a rabble rouser. Even "Friends, Romans, Countryman" doesn't have the same amount of emotional venom as this song.
Speaking of Mark Antony I played the role of one of his enemies in High School in a play Cassius to be specific
I was looking for that comment exactly

I like the 1991 version better!
Yessss
Brilliant.
I can confidently say that this version is better than the original. And I like the new lines they added.

Frank Lesher so happy Belle calling Gaston a monster is going to be in the live action movie cuz that's my favorite Belle line ever :)
Frank Lesher
Belle: You want proof?
1:14 - "There's a Beast running wild there's no question, but I fear the wrong monster's released..."
I find this line extremely interesting.
LeFou's character development is incredible! I read the novelization and I can't wait to see it play out.
mystical flute same here 😁
He started to see it when Gaston tried to kill Belle's father.
Earlier in the movie when he defends Gaston he seems intimidated and scared of him so he complies
No i think what lefou is talking about is, how there are witches going around turning people into monsters, so the victims are the wrong monsters and the true monster is the witch
Oh wow...Luke Evans is just wow...He's done really well in this song...he sounds evil and creepy and really convincing...wow...
All these songs are giving me chills! Everytime I watch the trailer, I get chills. When I watch the movie, my god I'm gonna have goosebumps throughout all! This song is totally epic!!!!! Saw the original in theaters when I was 4 years old!
Hbdach I'm calling it. I'm going to cry at every song.
I have a feeling Luke Evans is going to own this movie. At first I was excited to see Emma as Belle but now I can't wait to see the movie because of Luke and Josh's characters. Also, I am LOVING the soundtrack, especially this one and the Gaston song.
They were my favourite part of the whole movie. You can really tell that they can just work off each other when they're onscreen together.
He owned
"It's time toooo folllooooowwww meeeeeee!"

Luke Evans really nailed the animated version. Just close your eyes and listen, you can really hear the original Gaston
completely and utterly impressed. The mob song in the original was so iconic in the movie, but they did so well with it here. It really makes you feel intimidated.
That woman singing “He’ll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wander free” has such a great and chilling voice.
Luke Evans steals the show here. watched the film yesterday. He is the perfect casting.
This is better than I could've imagined. They may have actually outdone the original here.
This one, and Gaston to me are better than the originals honestly. So much more energetic and fun
I agree some people who hate this remake are too nostalgic for their own good
Luke Evans is mindblowingly good.
0:53 The way he sings "dead" is so satisfying ugghh~!
Lefou is actually thinking about how the beast is really just a human cused by a hag, that the real monster wasn't his pal Gaston but the enchantress
I think this is actually better than the original.
I agree
TBH, I liked This version way better than the original

No one leaves an old man to die in the woods like Gaston
No one abandons their best friend like Gaston
No one is more of a prick in the live action adaption like Gaston~

Alan Menken definitely improved this from the animation version. The orchestration just gave me chills. And Luke Evans did so well in this as well, and great cast voice ensemble as well.
Luke Evans is amazing. he sounds really evil in this song, while he sounded funny in "Gaston". he is Fantastic

My favourite part is so it's time to take some action boys it's time to follow me
I can't be the only one who thinks that this is the best remake of the entire album. Just everything.
The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmatians was better but I liked this remake to
Petition for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Musical
"KILL THE DRAGON!"
It feels weird being able to understand exactly WHAT they're singing. In the original the enunciation wasn't as sharp. I like it. :)
Riah from The City of Flowers that is the great thing about this film. They have a lot of stage actors who enunciate. At 31 years old, I can finally say I understood all the words. Lol
The score is fantastic. It compliments the voices in the song so well, makes it just as scary.
Luke Evans slayed this song I actually like this one better than the original
just like he slayed that dragon hehehehe (ill go home)
He's also Dracula
"There's a beast running wild, there's no question. But I fear the wrong Monster's released..." I like that line too
😱😱Scary and more terrifying in this movie instead of original. Luke Evans was phenomenal.
The added lyricssss though esp Lefou's line omg
Watching the animated version, this song never failed to give me chills. And then I saw this version in the theatre and it just gave me more chills. Well done.
In "Belle" and "Gaston" Gaston sings in cocky gallant hero type way, but here he drops all pretense of good and gallantry and sings with a sinister and malice tone...aka who he was all along.
Wow. Luke's voice is just, wow. Great new version of the song.
No one scares like Gaston!
Cuts off heads like Gaston!
Who can make the Mob Song sound so dark like Gaston?
Oh my lord, I love this so much. Now I want to hear them remake all the animated villain songs: "Poor Unfortunate Souls" (The Little Mermaid), "Friends on the Other Side" (The Princess and the Frog), "Be Prepared" (The Lion King0, "Savages" (Pocahontas), "Hellfire" (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), etc. It would be, needless to say, BEYOND epic.
Aurora Boreala hellfire- the horny villain questioning his sexuality after seeing Gaston
they are making live action lion king so be prepared will be in that
Definitely excited for how they'll pull that off.
@@morganmclaren1207 they messed up BIG TIME on that one
Okay, I know people disagree but I think it's vry clear why gaston does all this:
1. We was the leader of the army years ago, thats also why all the villagers loved him (and because he is hot)
2. There wasn't a war in many years so he wanted some action, he says in the song 'It's a nightmare but it's one exiting ride' and he says 'Call it war, call it threat!' He thinks: finally a war again now I can do the only thing I'm good at
3. He is angry because why is the only girl that gives him "that sense of je ne sais quoi'" also the only girl that don't love him.
4. He's also angry at th beast because he locked Belle, his "future wife"
5. the whole village count on him to save the village because he is the big army leader and the people are affraid
This was easily the best song on the soundtrack.
''So it's time to take some action boys, it's time to follow me!''
That was so deep and amazing. Luke Evans did a great job here.
As a small child, this was by far my favorite chunk of the film. I got goosebumps and major nostalgia listening to this..
Wow! It sound more scary than the cartoon version
" we're not safe until he's dead" well you being living peacefully for years now so I don't see the fuss. 😂
The intro is almost identical to "savages" from Pocahontas. Quite a chilling juxtaposition.
