Using sweetcorn for BIG CARP - August 2024 vlog
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- This month I'm down in Reading fishing for big carp at Long Lake whilst using one of the forgotten favourites for bait, sweetcorn. I talk you through the methods and types of sweetcorn I use, the hookbaits I fish over the top, and show you some recent catches of big carp I've made using this fantastic bait. There's plenty of playing action, including a couple of big UK commons, the best of which went 39lb 6oz. All included is a brief look at Avid Carp's newly released EXO 2 Bivvy System.

Thanks Thomas 🙌
This is why i love Simon crow I'm like many others watching carp fishing for many years korda Nash fox ect.. but I like Simon is the fact it's simple fishing there's no bullshit involved simple tactics simple rigs simple old school fishing!
Nothing beats doing it yourself
I have to say Simon's post are pretty slick, even better when you know it's a one man job.

Thanks Craig 👍
Wicked video mate, some absolute monsters 🎣👌
Superb Vlog Simon Lovely Fish Top Angling 👌
Thanks mate
As a angler that fishes for carp in the US corn and tiger nuts are my favorite baits to use. You cant go wrong with the basics.
Unbelievable angler you are Simon, simple fishing with great results 👌
Cheers pal, lots of effort and blanks in between 😉
A little trick you might want to look at with dry maize is to put it in some water with a bit of hydrated lime and cook it, the strong alkaline breaks down the protein bonds of the corn and makes it way more soluble in a process called nixtamalization. This is the process that americans use to prepare maize for the dish known as grits (sort of a corn porridge) and it has a range of nutrients benefits
Salut simon crow j'aime beaucoup tes vidéos , toute en simplicité 🙏 merci a toi 🎉
Merci Vincent 🙌
Nice one Simon. That priest is an awesome looking fish. Well done mate. 👍
Cheers Pete
Really enjoyed that. I was a member of Long Lake quite a few years back and sweetcorn was my go to bait- the first time i used it i caught 11 fish in ten nights! When i first joined, the biggest fish eas not even twenty five pounds...
It sure is a great venue
I use sweetcorn as my primary bait 90% of the time and catch! There are times when I will use a boilie or, currently, experimenting with waffters, but a pop up fake corn on a hair is still my go to!
A cracking video as always Simon.
Your no nonsense approach is refreshing and obviously effective
Thanks pal
It's not the smell of carp that you like: it's the smell of success!
Bit of both maybe mate

No wonder you have a smile on ya face, thats a cracking common 👍
Try liquidised corn over the top through the spomb create a cloud draw them in, always used to do well with hemp and corn mix too
Thanks 👏👏
I must have had a can or two of sweetcorn in my holdall for the past 40 years whenever I've targeted carp. My first Tench and Carp came on corn. Also, blend it down and add it to your spod mix
Good one mr. Crow …
Thanks mate 👍
Can't believe people tell you how to play fish in pal 😂 That black scaley 20lber was a blinder of a carp 👌👌
Im in the market for 2 man bivvy. Definitely be looking at this. I dont like them stupid thin ground sheets. Looks a good system.
It’s the nuts mate
Enjoyable watch! Any idea where "The Priest" get its name from? :)
No mate, I don’t know
👍🏻
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Cor flipping heck mush, any chance of borrowing your membership for this lake? Great filming and editing Simon, nice one 👍
Cheers pal
🍺🍺🦈🍺🍺
Carp adore corn 🌽 fact..
I've had problems with sweetcorn floating especially the ones in bags ?
🤫
Is it worth using sweetcorn in murky water or is it just clear water simon
Anything bright and smelly in murky water is a winner mate, so sweetcorn definitely fits the bill 👍
It’s the lysine… 100%. It’s incredibly attractive to carp. More so than almost anything else
I use it a work in animal feed. May have to 'borrow' some.
Not in most waters that the average guy fishes that are mixed fisheries with a head of bream in em! 10-20 bream in a night might just dent your enthusiasm for corn😂
Great bait but the birds absolutely batter it if they can see it
Tinned corn is cooked, frozen isn't
Your video was spoilt by too many long youtube addverts!
Sorry to hear that
Not your fault m8 just too many annoying ads on UA-cam now!
