I fondly recall a visit to this site in the mid-2010's where we were able to do a field walk with these professionals and see for ourselves the different outcomes from each of the silvicultural practices described in this video. It was quite striking to walk from one treatment area to the next and take in the profound differences that each practice produces over time. It was particularly interesting to see the difference made by pre-commercial thinning, a practice that not many landowners can consistently implement. I felt then, as I still do on seeing this video today, that the practice of forestry would only benefit from a broader and more systematic sharing of the results of the work at this experimental forest.
