Is this a common way of removing the protection in all chinese made buggy motors? I ordered 2 from aliexpress and also some 1.6 v rechargeable batteries do i really need to remove protection for them?

Great movie!!! Do you know what the maximum safe voltage can be given to the original Lego IR tower ??? Will it withstand about 10-11V ??? I have a 7.4V lipo battery and I would like to increase its voltage (with a small step-up converter) to about 10-11V ... Will the tower stand it?

I am using 2 buggy motors (chineese) in my lego rm8 garage baja trophy truck and also i am using 2 buwizz units. I will make the modification to my 2 buggy motors. My question is in which voltage there is a risk to burn the motors since buwizz can give up to 11.4 volt. Which volt do you recemmoend to use ? also is there a risk to burn the buwizz also ? The last question is in many zerobricks models such as tiger 4*4 and tiger 6*6 he had used buggy motors . i don't know whether they are lego or chineese but i couldn't understand why he used buggy motors since their torque is low. Although he makes gear reduction it can reach to xl motors torque . The last question is what do you think about %300 powerfull chineese large and xl motors ? did you try them as well ? Regarding the voltage - I usually do not use 11.4V mode for these motors. At the fast mode (9V) these motors work fine. Buggy motors have a maximum mechanical power, so if the torque will be equal to the XL motor, than the speed will be faster. I haven't tried 300% motors :)

@@levsmolsky8354 i buy the motors from aliexpress. some of them has thermistor inside them some of them has not. even if you don't have thermistor inside the motor buwizz triggers itself and goes to protection mode when you try to pull high amper as i know
Hi Kirill, is it possible to replace the protection with a thermistor that will cut out at a higher current/temperature? Would be nice to have some protection. Unfortunately I am not very technical but I should be able to solder a replacement thermistor. I hope you could give me the right spec or link to thermistor. Thanks a lot!
I bought 1 from mouldking and they SUCK. Can drive for 30 seconds then it stops and have to wait a minut to drive again. Which then stops again after 30 seconds and so on.
@@Kirtechlab Haha thanks I actually did that a few hours after my post and its working great now. Still going strong after 2 months so I don't think missing the current protection is a big issue :)
It mostly depends on type of power source that you are using. In case you are using standard lego battery box they won't deliver enough current to burn motor. If you are using custom type of power source for exampe buwizz or lipo's then you can try to load motor with high force so it barely moves and in case it gets impossible to hold with bare hand the it has a big chance to die in long usage so it rather be safe to solder thermistor back or replace it

At first I only wanted to buy a couple but could not resist buying 5x. Maybe 1 will not be good. I thought I only owned 2x 5292 buggy Lego motors but yesterday I found 3x more so I actually have 5x official Lego 5292 motors. I don't dare to take the protection out of those so I will probably sell 2-3. These motors have more value than gold haha Oh by the way, I also bought 2x Buwizz yesterday.... Power!!!
Because it has "Lego" stamp I think. But yeah, price of original used motors is taken out of space. I prefer this Chinese counterpart and its average price. Anyway thanks for the detailed review, I'm going to solder out the thermistor too from this toys!
I’m getting the Chinese one and definitely doing this. A more powerful and practically copy of a great Lego motor at a fifth the price.

@@5eyed2k ik you comment is 1 year old but it depends like if you motor is stopping during projects then you should remove the protection.

I suppose it's better to remove the protection. In the same time some of my motors had no protection at all, so probably it's nothing to remove :)

I think the best option is to place the same thermistor as in Lego motor

Hi! It's possible, but I don't know the specification. Try to find what kind of thermistor is placed in original LEGO motor.

you can cut thermistor - it will help, but it will be no current protection

Has it burned out yet? I'm thinking about modding the motor as well, except I'm not sure how long its gonna last.
