- Hey! Sorry for not being active on here, but I'm back! This is a school project for my game culture class that involves one of the best games I've played this year: Psychonauts 1 and 2.
TW// Mention of suicide for a small portion and slight blood (I'll put the timestamps in the pinned comment)

I… I’m at a loss for words. This is a phenomenal essay. It clearly gets the point across, it introduces people to a series that next to no one knows about, and it is dead serious while also being a little goofy. (I also related on a spiritual level with that existential crisis at 6:16 (nice Marvel Comics reference lol))
I too suffer from mental illness, specifically ADHD and Depression. It is really difficult, and most of the time it’s terrifying. However if you open up to caring friends, family, and loved ones, it gets a little easier to manage. It’s completely fine to ask for help.
Great to have you back Galaxy. We missed you. Hope you enjoy SM:NWH!
This was a nice video essay! I really love how Psychonauts 2 improved on the mental health themes from the first game. As someone with anxiety, I really related to Compton and his level a great deal. Particularly with the fact that it portrayed his friends and colleagues as puppets, being operated by his own hands… I’ve gone through that whole thing of having the voices of people I know criticizing me within my mind, but my therapist taught me how to combat that, specifically by telling the “voices” to shut up because they’re not real-they’re not actually those people talking to me. Compton learns a similar lesson by the end, and pulls the puppets off of his hand. Gosh I love it.
(I will say on a side note-I’ve admittedly not watched the shows mentioned, but “stop redeeming terrible people” is an odd criticism. It can be done poorly to be sure (as with any theme in writing) but if a character is redeemed, that means they’re stopping being a bad person and working on being a better person, which is… objectively good? I would love for the people who abused me in the past to redeem themselves so they would like … not hurt anyone anymore.)
Also gosh I feel that about Psychonauts 2 getting snubbed by the game awards. UGH. I was so mad. At least it won GOTY in a bunch of other awards shows though…
Beautiful message, I honestly had no idea it went this in depth about these topics. Plus, the memes added a bit of flavor and balance. amazing as always
just wanted to say that endeavors redemption arc is actually pretty amazing, well done, and is at the level of the best character redemption arc of all fiction, zuko from avatar.
comparing endeavor redemption arc with the diamonts ¨redemption arc¨ is like comparing the gioconda with the draw of a 3 year old.
Thank you for getting me into this series lol
You have earned yourself a subscriber. Well done.
Great video, I noticed that this is for a college assignment at the end.
