  • Hey guys,
    In this vid I show how I wire a BMS to a 7s 18650 lithium pack for a kids scooter I found on a rubbish pile.
    The lead acid batteries were dead, so the scooter was discarded.
    I'm guessing they go SO much better on Lithium!
    Thanks for watching.

    Great work. Did the balance wires come with the BMS? I don’t like how they’re all the same color. I’m sure I would mess something up without different colors.

      Hi
      Yes they do come with the BMS.
      Maybe you could make some little stickers or mark the individual wires in some way if that would help?

    Nice looking batteries. Looks like custom made bus with some twisted copper and fuse wire for isolation in case of short.
    Could you help me please
    -Why do it in the positive AND the negative? Shouldn't be enough to do for ex only positive?
    -what do you use as fuse wire?
    -how did you calculate the thickness of copper bus?

      @Emmanuel Maxim I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm.
      Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

    Sorry if you mentioned it but does the bms protection board have over discharge protection?
    Couldn't see it in the spec.

      As I know all battery management systems (BMS) have overcharge and under discharge protections. That is the management otherwise it is a charging board or module.

    Hi total amperes?

    • @offgriddreaming5403
      @offgriddreaming5403  3 роки тому

      Hi
      I think the bms is rated to 20 amps Max.
      But with other bms could do double that ✌

    You scooter motor needs 24v in , why you bought 7s bms? you will have 29,4v with this bms right? i have a doubt with this in my RV project, why you didnt buy 6s 24v bms to have 25,2 v charged?? thankyou

    • @offgriddreaming5403
      @offgriddreaming5403  5 років тому +1

      Hi
      I am intentionally over volting the motor, which gives better performance
      Just need to be sure your top voltage doesn’t exceed the capacity of your controllers capacitors ✌️

    • @Nitrxgen
      @Nitrxgen 5 років тому +1

      29.4V is maximum voltage which drops of fairly quickly, it'll rest around 24V nominal voltage for most of its use (roughly), these motors can handle the extra voltages no problem

      7s for 24v equipment works out perfectly, in most cases, with lead acid full charge or while charging can reach 28.8v and some cases even 30v, and 7s can safely go to 20-21v where most 24v electronics shut off! I'm home inverter, and battery bank us 24v with a 7s charge to 28.7v, 4.1v per cell! And the inverter shuts off at 21v, and can Handle up to 32v
