Lost one of my best friends to suicide Tuesday 19th September just gone, he was only 28; genuinely one of the sweetest, most golden-hearted blokes you could ever meet, would do anything for anyone. He left behind a beautiful 2-year-old daughter whom he adored. The pain, stress and heartache us young men and women go through in todays world can be unbearable, I'm really struggling with it and have had this song on repeat ever since. Please check on your mates. RIP Cain, no more pain now my brother 💔

What genre is this? It’s a 3 minute song. Very short. A full minute of intro with no beat. That’s a third of the song.
20 seconds of real song, then another 40 seconds of slow stuff no one can dance to.
Then 40 seconds of real song then outro.
What is this? They’ve made half of a song.
This bizarre format has become popular. What’s the term?
This isn’t for dancing. If I’m going to mix this I need to do a ton of work to keep is going so the crowd isn’t standing around … or I’m mixing songs 50 seconds at a go.

But, what's the sub genre called? It's different enough from the format of typical drum and bass that this really feels like it's own thing.
Like how jungle isn't similar to but different from drum and bass. Or how there are a dozen different kinds of house. Or how trip hop was heavily influenced by hip hop but the format and tempo of the tracks really made it a separate thing.

@@OG_Loc this is how sub genres are made. It’s basically similar to, but fundamentally separate from. Totally cool with me if you don’t know the sub genre. But, this format for drum and bass that’s been growing in popularity is very different from what came before it.
Like how trapstep isn’t trap .. and isn’t dubstep.
This is a different thing. I just don’t know what it’s called.
It's the same genre, it's clearly dnb. It's just a shorter format and drop sections are shorter. It's quite popular in other genres like house where you can literally have a 2 min track. Not saying it's worse or better, just different. I agree that short drops are a bit sad (especially when intros/breaks are much longer), but on the other hand not everything has to be the same.
