I love the way you present yourself and vintage audio. Thank you for your enthusiasm and the effort you put into your videos. I’ve been a collector for 43 years, long live vintage audio

Was trying to find out about the input side. Confused to what the black tube on a horizontal swivel is. great video too!

    I just bought a SA-800 today for $850CAD ($670USD) today. I had a SA-1000 but I sold it for $13,000USD last year. I really missed my 1000 and thank God I got the 800.

You did awesome with your SA-1000! I sold mine (years ago) for about $2K ...wish I still had it! The SA-800 is certainly fairly priced at $850. Nice receiver for sure!

Just picked one up for $375. Now for a total restoration. Unit looks good as it is but I don’t like to mess with them until there back to full specs 😊

You're right, sometimes if they've been sitting a long time powering them up can do more damage than good.

Love vintage vibe I love to have that but a little too much for me but I did just purchase a fisher rs 1040 the guy said 1971 but it's not listed in the fisher annual it goes 1032 than to 1050 but it's a 1040 just wondering what you think ?

I do know it was just under 50 watts, at the time - plenty of power for most speakers. I've never dabbled much with fisher; well, except the old tube fisher untis. I bet it's probably nice sounding - they did make some good stuff!

I picked a near mint one up in 1998 off eBay for $165 US. Replaced the lamps (the only thing outwardly wrong with it). TBH I wasn't that impressed with the sound and could never get those toggle switches cleaned to the point they wouldn't crackle, so I sold it about a year later. I replaced it with a Yamaha A-700 amp that absolutely blew it out of the water and remains my all time favorite stereo amp.

Yes, the SA-800 benefits from service. I will admit, after replacement of some of the caps and transistors it really came to life. Yamaha makes nice stuff, the A-700 is no sloutch.

I’m looking to replace the lamps with cool blue. Also looking to replace the vu lamps also. Did you also replace the vu bulbs.

How did you get the display lights to switch to green then back to white or was I seeing things? 🤔

Just had a SA 700 rebuilt for me... It was $300.00 all 8 output transistors were blown, but I wanted it done regardless.

The more I listen to the 800, the more I like it. The amp has a very "fun" sound. Part of this, IMO, is the bass response. It's not bloated, but it just bumps around quickly - really making most of what I've been listening to lately more enjoyable. I noticed the FM section was a bit noisy, the sensitivity was far too low, so I send it out for an adjustment. I've had many exceptional receivers and this (fairly bland looking) receiver is really impressing me!

Yo tuve el Sa 500 hace unos 10 años y lo compré en 20 dólares en un mercadillo de segunda mano, lamentablemente ya hace un par de años que se me descompuso y no hubo manera de repararlo.

Always a way to repair it. What did it do just quit turning on or?

Man what kind of fireplace is that
Is it electric and just for show?

    • @1JGP1
      @1JGP1  2 роки тому

      It is electric.
They made gas versions too...probably circa early 70's.
