Rehabilitated Turtles Returned To The Sea

The Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island returned 12 Sea Turtles back to the Sea in April.
Over 1000 supporters gathered on Great Dunes Beach Deck, Jekyll Island, Georgia to cheer the turtles on.
The turtles received treatment for a variety of injuries and illnesses such as boat strikes, entangled fishing lines, pneumonia, and hypothermia.
Jekyll Island is Georgia’s only sea turtle rehabilitation and education center. It is operated by the Jekyll Island Authority and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center was developed as an institution devoted to rehabilitating injured sea turtles and preserving the delicate balance of the oceanic ecosystem.
Many turtles are never able to return to the sea. Seeing these rehabilitated turtles swim away to their home in the ocean was rewarding for all involved. Swim on sea turtles!
