Minor note, for the 1 box killteam you can build EITHER the Questkeeper OR the Pistolier so that makes the actual team you build: - Interrogator (so no Enlightener) - Tome-Skull - AutoSavant - Gun Servitor - Death World Veteran (so no Penal Legionnaire) - Mystic (so no Hexorcist) - Pistolier OR Questkeeper In 1 box scenarios you HAVE to take the Autosavant, if you want to or not.
"This was really weird rules writing" feels like it's going to be a phrase that comes up a lot in the first six months of this edition. Rewriting the rules for every single model in a game like this was simply too large a task to dump on a team in twelve months and they've done a surprisingly solid job with it. Fingers crossed that the really broken stuff makes itself known early, the first few dataslates sand it all off and we reach a point of stability some time in mid 2025.
It frustrates me that IA always had a "best option" for requisitions n KT '21 and it seems that is still the case in KT '24. I would love to see a balance adjustment where all the requisition options were viable depending on the combination of kill zone/opponents. Also, don't forget this is GW designing this game. The odds that they could have 33 teams balanced at the launch of KT '24 is exactly zero. I believe that since all rules are now available online, balance dataslates will be a lot more proactive. In fact, I bet the first one we get will be extensive.
Used the hive scum box to convert the 4 remaining guys for $18. I also built the Multimelta last edition because I like multimeltas. Looks like im sitting pretty! Now I only need to pick up some kasrkin 😃
I bought a box of Delaque gangers to kitbash them with. Delaque torsos are a little tall, but with a little trimming the Hexorsist fur fit real nice and make him a taller Crazy-old-man-with-a-shotgun lol
I think they lost scope with this team. From a head cannon it would have made sense for the leader to be totaly customizeable. And think they should have left a future scope as 2 more kt are coming frome imperuim "aquilons" and " ratling\ogyrns" which would make for great retinue adtions
That and the imperial agent battleforces that came out a few months ago. Ordo Xenos gives you inquisitorial agents and Elucidian Starstriders. Ordo Hereticus gives you IA and Extractors.
Is it really that confusing? I mean, name 1 other kill team that, to get all of the options, you have to purchase 6 or 7 boxes, boost this one to make it more desirable, and you are guaranteed to sell at minimum 2-3 boxes every time just to run this team. Someone in design said we can make a kill team cost as much or more than a combat patrol. And their boss said, do it. This is a financial decision, just like every other one they make; balance takes 2nd place to sales; teams with low sales will see boosts in stats, and teams with high sales will get toned down. Once they move x number of boxes, these will get some nerfing, and something else will get a boost.
Blades of Khaine you need to get the Dire Avengers and Howling Banshees on top of the scorpions, but that team isn’t that great right now. Willing to bet they get huge buff in the future.
Why do the Kasrkin get the Recon Trooper but Death Korps can't have Spotter? Why can't Navy have Breach & Clear? Also the Questkeeper and the Deathworld Veteran lost Reap2. Also, why are the Sisters of Silence on the list and not the Sororitas? The sisters of battle are a chamber militant of the Inquisition and the nulls are one of the few groups who don't answer to the inquisition.
Take away the free strat ploy from Kasrkin, take Korps to 5 unit but give em the spotter and keep the 3 gunner/sniper, give Navy 'breach & clear', replace Nulls with Novitiates, replace Tempestus with something interesting like 2 Grey Knights or Ogryns
Spotter would be too good on Inq as it's long range ignore obscuring. Losing reap 2 is fine as every melee operative did. GW seem to want Adepta Soriatas seperate
The trouble is thematically I love the idea of running them but I don't want to be that guy that plays them either. The furthest I've got is doing the normal loadout from the box and I have some exaction models to go with them, would that be more preferable than just the straight inquisition list?
I had my very first game yesterday against phobos. Gun servitor rolling 4 attack of melta with piercing 2 seems like it's an instant kill a marine every time ? Sure the dices can be against you and you get no hit; but : 4 attacks at 4+ is statistically 2 hits. So 2 defence dices for your opponent. Minus 2, that's zero. How many health has a phobos ? 12. How many damage does the melta ? 6 in normal and 7 (4+3) in critical. That's ... strong ? Sure you can shoot only once per turn yadda yadda but set a tome skull near the servitor, put him in cover and watch him not die and cover half the map with its gun. I'm all new to this game so i might miss something.
Weird how they launched with plasma spam (which I enjoyed for a couple months).. Got nerfed.. And they relaunch with gun spam again.. That's just weird
I feel like they thought "Well plasma is only piercing 1 now so we can remove the restrictions". I'm hopeful that if they are a big problem they already have a blueprint on how to bring them back down again.
I really love the look and the idea of the Inquisitorial Agents, but I'd be embarrassed to try and play them right now. I think they are going up on the shelf until they get at least one round of nerfs. 😢
Part of the balance issues may be about selling more stuff. How many people went out and bought one of the S-tier factions? A few months pass, and there is a Nerf and a new S-tier. How many will go buy one of those factions? Then it is time for version 4, and the process repeats itself!
something i notice in this new iteration is that scions and kasarkin are the exact same, but scions come in smaller bases the kasarkin having a more spread roster as they could take the sniper and the demo guy, but for that you would be better of with the veterans, so if you take tropper, gunners, medic and coms you are better having scions that kasarkin
Reading the way you requisition for this team, I'm not sure that the Kasrkin recon trooper should be singled out as being special; it says to replace the faction keyword on the orange ones, such as the Kasrkin, with imperial agents, so the medic works on all IA but is a Kasrkin. How is that different than the recon trooper ability? It's a unit-specific ability, like the medics' healing, not a faction ability, isn't it? and it only applies to that single unit, so it isn't being shared to other units. Or am I interpreting it wrong?
Im an inquisitorial apologist, i think other teams at a high level were also very strong, and a good player could work around them (i personally didn't see them podium very often). With that being said, they were still strong. This update took everything that was good about them and injected it with steroids, its weird. Like beforehand they were weak and hit on 4s but now? Like what the hell? You could sometjnes counter quarry by backing an operative into safety, but now they can counter that lol. Also I wonder how bad wc would struggle into a sister of silence team, or if the loss of utility still isn't worth taking them.
I was really hoping for a complete refresh for this team. I want my friends to have fun as my only teams I have are Nemisi Claw, Exaction Squad and Inquisitorial Agent. Im probably going to split that Ratlings vs Orc box with a buddy tho so i hope those are at least balanced and fun.
I won't say everyone had a bad experince because I've played other IA like myself had fun time. I think the adjustments are OP though and need to be tuned. Yeah its weird the aux works better with them. But this is still first part of the Launch and I believe the data will help them with feed back to tune them. I think its sucks that the nerf the Breachers and bolster IA. I feel the need to come to a solid ground for these teams to see benefits but at the same time not better because they work with a team. But love the video man.
I’d be fine if they gave questkeeper her balanced back on a charge and she went back to 4+ but she’s not nearly as much of a tank as ‘21. I don’t think she really moves the needle because she’s 3+ (and melee specialist seem to be the ones getting WS buffs). Not being able to upgrade the pistols really hurts questkeeper but small nerf. Pistolier nerf is impactful. Reap 2 off deathworld vet is decent nerf in certain matchups. Nerfing navy was needed but now it’s hard to pass on kasrkin. Do you think the team would be in a bad place if they only allow one P2 and two P1 models? And didn’t allow the free ploy from Kasrkin.
The Inquisitorial box sucks i just got one yesterday and theyre mostly variants 😭 im not buying another box but there's so many "one body two operatives" things
I feel like in like 3 videos now you’ve kinda gestured towards a conspiracy on why Inq is being kept strong. Something that people in competitive kill team know. I feel like knowing whatever that is would go along way to justify your burning revolution towards this team. While it is a strong team that does hold a problematic space in that it invalidates worse teams it can take and turns off other teams key ploys, you sure don’t mind other teams like legionaries, nemesis claw, and warp coven looking brutally strong and meta warpingly problematic. Inquistion on the whole got alot of things toned down via system changes like their reliance on plasmas. It feels like there’s a weird thing going on. EDIT: i just finished the video since i was watching the priemer, is the conspiracy that they want them to be strong so you’ll buy 2 boxes?
No it's an open secret in the competitive scene why As for the elites, in those videos I've talked about how you can tone down some of their aspects, but the main issue is the game being 3 objectives with counteract. For Legio, you can easily make Banner 1CP per game and tone them down in other ways, same for other elites Inq do the worst thing by breaking multiple core design rules while also repeating the issues that caused them to be nerfed after release the first time.
Asking why are you not complaining as hard about other teams isn't a good defense for this team being overpowered. Giving them back access to take just a ridiculous amount of plasma/melta along with there very very strong ploys doesn't make sense. No justification to remove plasma spam last edition because it was broken and toxic and then give it back to them? We all have our favorite teams rightfully so but be objective in your opinion!
I had a drink every time you said, "this is fine". I am hammered now.
RIP Liver

So which is better
Anyone else sad they didnt give leader some interesting ability and make him little bit cool?
Considering they are on the path to becoming Inquisitors themselves, it's annoying how weak they are.
I would have liked something kewl instead of better pistol

Yeah, Inq should have just been their own dedicated team
This doesn't surprise me at all. Every single Warhammer shop I go into has boxes of these on the shelf that really need shifting...
GOTTA BUY DEM INQ
Oh right. That does make sense. But they'll probably be tuned down after meta chasers buy enough

No scions are worse as they don't have the recon trooper.
So does Emperor's Will allow an operative to ignore Piercing?
It shouldn't, the ploy prevents changes to the operative's stats. Piercing doesn't change a stat, it takes away one die.
Yeah it shouldn't modify saves
So, is there a nonelite counter to them?
Maybe blooded?
