had some trouble with the upload this morning, but its out now! link to alpine meadows trail map in the description. happy new year squad! very stoked and grateful for all of you
You are an inspiration and a joy to watch. You videos are crafted well - good music too. I have watched quite a few of your videos and think this one is tied for best (the pow and music)! Keep up the great work.
I admire your can-do, positive attitude. You're an intrepid traveler and fearless skier. Thanks so much. Looking forward to the next installment. Happy New Year to you and yours.
Yay another video! Had a day like this at Snowbird in Mineral Basin where u literally couldn’t see anything, not even your skis or edges of trail/hill. That lift is new...used to not go all the way up to the ridge. This is exactly reason why I like Alpine Meadows better...usually ends up being one of the few skiing endless first tracks even if you have limited access/terrain. Snow seems better too (unless at the top of Squaw)
thanks regina! those days are always bittersweet because conditions are tough, but usually theres good snow! and thats interesting, good thing it went up to the top, because the mid station would have been a lot more boring! and yes the snow was way better than the day before at KT22! super thankful for the recommendation of going to alpine!!
So glad you made it out to Tahoe!! Christmas Day was the best day this season in Tahoe so far. I was at Mt Rose that day where the base elevation is 8200 feet, Squaw and Alpine's base is around 6000 feet so on powder days we get much better snow. I love being at the mountain when most people want to stay home, those are the best days!! Now you have to make it back when it's a nice day and trust me you'll be blown AWAY when the top of both Alpine and Squaw are open!! At both Alpine and Squaw you basically skied about 10 to 15% of the resort. Very impressed how you charged all day at a resort you didn't know and the visibility was bad!!
for sure!! i definitely need to make it back when the entire mountain is open! didnt get the full experience by any means, but at least we made the most of what we had! i heard good things about mt. rose too!
I've been in conditions like these at Big White. The elevation is so high, the resort gets hit with foggy weather a lot, and is sometimes prone to storms. It makes the skiing very fun!
Just found your vlogs. I grew up in Reno. Slide Mountain Ski Team in the early 70's. So many Areas for you to choose from. I will continue to follow. I am living in Southern California Now. Been married for 38 years so I do not get to do what you are doing. We do take the family up to BC at a place called BIG WHITE. Great Place. What can I say. I have grand kids now
Nice video on the area. The "blowing days" are always the best... Tracks get re-filled with each chair ride. Thanks for sharing! As a side note Lucas - I noticed you drop your right hand through the most critical phase of your turns. Making adjustments in this area will improve your skiing skills especially in the most challenging of terrain scenarios... If you make it to the northwest, look me up at Alpental. It would be great to make some BC laps with you and show you all our lift accessible back country. Keep the good videos coming- All the best, Mo-
I finally got out, Winter Park MJ in CO, not a bad 1st day, we got a storm, headed up Thursday thru Sunday next week, so stocked. Looks crazy man, excellent footage, be safe.
During march last year I was at Mammoth the night they broke their snow record. They got 30 inches that night and we had to wait 2 hours in line the next day for the lifts to open, but we ended up getting like 5th chair. One of the best ski days of my life. I did my first double black that day.
Fairly new to the channel and I ski on the east coast. Your channel makes me want to pack up and move out west😂. Love the video quality and keep doing what you do!!!💪💪
I grew up in Mass and so glad I learnt how to ski on that crap in NH, Vt and Me!! When I was 20 I moved to Nor Cal, best thing I ever did!! I live just outside of Tahoe it's really amazing!! My favorite mountain is Alpine but I like Squaw and Mt Rose too.
what a gnarly day you had! epic video too! I also really like those timelapses that show different angles on the chairlift you've been doing recently. Keep it up!
I've been in Whiteouts like this at Brundage. I'm not a fan of them, they freak me out, even if I know where I'm at on the mountain. Great video Lucas!
I worked at Alpine around 1967 and 1968 my buddy broke his leg skiing at alpine. He still work but was in pain all the time he had a spiral butterfly of the tib fib. I had to take him back to Peru Ill. so he could heal up. But we both skied Alpine for 25 years after that. Skis have sure changed a lot. I'll give you a pair of Volk 210 and you can try them out. I still have a bunch of skis in the garage, somewhere.
Dang, this looks like so much fun! You took such sick lines on everything. Edit: I'm just catching up on your vids, but you should for sure wear a yellow lens on a day like this, a super low light lens on a day like this is such a game changer. Who cares if people can see your eyes, i'm with you on that, it's fun when they can't... but so worth it to have a nearly clear lens.
Thanks for documenting such an epic day. While the ski footage was insane, I like the in between shots just as much. Like 10:30. The way you set up and edit is remarkable.
new subscriber! love the videos dude. lifetime alta+brighton skier here - if I can hit some financial goals of mine in the next few years or so, would love to start creating stories like these, seems super fulfilling. enjoying the great balance of context, interesting skiing, b-roll, etc.
Sick vid man you should come to Kirkwood though it’s my home mountain and is awesome. If ur there in the next couple days I can show you around to the best places! Keep up the sick content.
Commented on a video earlier this season about targhee and this reminds me of targhe conditions right now hopefully you can make it up here for the awesome snow and I love your videos wanna see more!
Pretty dope my Siciliano brother. Unfortunately skiing in the Midwest right now with my beginner girlfriend, will be in park city Feb 8-13 and Feb 27th-4th I hope we have some delicious snow to hit on Jupiter and Murdock
Little west coast skier tip; go get yourself a pair of atlas, rubber, insulated gloves. Hands stay dry as a bone no matter how wet it is. Believe it or not, the previous couple days before you got to town were much wetter.
It was very, very cool how you thanked the various employees for opening the mountain. Just like you said, we struggle to just take care of ourselves and our own safety/survival at times during storms. Yesterday up at Brian Head on Ski Patrol it was 30-50mph wind and was -6F ambient and -35F wind-chill. In the years I have been at the resort I have rarely been that cold. We were very concerned for our guests with regard to hypothermia. I really enjoy your channel man. Did your goggles come with a low-light lens?
I give all the lifties and bartenders at my local ski mountain Mt Rose gift card to the local brewery on Christmas and I bring them beers during the season.
thanks man! we couldnt ski without the patrollers and lift attendants, so gotta give credit where credit is due! and man that is chilly! hopefully there werent any major issues!! and yeah i have a yellow pair that i use for low light days!
How do you record behind you and in front of you like that? Looks like it has to be someone else with you but is it some technology? Love your content, boss!

That video was wild, I lowkey liked the intro vibes of just chillen then getting into skiing.
Thanks bro. This was one of the sickest days I’ve had
Love the longer videos
thanks bro!
Wow the perfect snow with the solidarity of the snowfall and cloud coverage is the perfect ski day, jealous
thank you bro! it really was a perfect day!
Lucas, You found the Alpine stash, Trees during the storm is the best, outstanding video
thank you man! stoked i made the best of it even with 1 lift open!

Super cool!!
Some of the best ski days are the worst weather days. I think you had both this day. Nice video. Thanks for sharing.
