Thank you so much for your great tutorial on how to use my B38 Bernina. You instructions were easy to follow. Greetings and have fun sewing from the other side of the world in New Zealand
Excellent video Gail! Thank you for making my new machine so easy to use! I tried a stitch today that I’ve never used before and it went great! I look forward to viewing other videos.
I have the B37, I’ve stitched on a fair few machines in the past, and I personally would highly recommend this machine for anyone, there well made , nice and quiet, and stitch great. 🙂
Thanks so much! I just got the Bernette b38 and it makes a high pitch noise even when not in use. Do you know if this is normal for first time using the brand new machine?
Thanks so much. I have a b37. Is it possible to lower the feed dog in order to do machine embroidery using a round drum to hold the material tight? There is a book by Doreen Curran about this.
Such a helpful video. Would be great to have chapters to refer back to each step in the future. I know that's a bit time consuming to enter in though. Thank you for this great tutorial nonetheless!
Hello. Thank you for your lesson. I'd like to ask, which machine is more quiet? Bernina 335 or Bernette B38? Also, could you do a comparation video? There is a massive price difference and would like to understand, why?
The best way to compare is to visit your local bernina dealer. The bernina 335 is far quieter and better quality. The bernettes are feature rich for the price point.
Thank you very much👏👍👌A question: how and when to old the Bernina 38?.. Will appreciate enormously your help ( do you also have a video on this issue?). Thanks in advance💕
Do you mean oil! Oil every 16 hours of the needle going up and down. And in the video I show you how to take out the hook by removing the needle plate. Do that and when the hook is out there is a little hole where a drop of oil goes.
This machine will be a bit louder sewing through multiple layers. If you are looking for a quiet machine when sewing heavy duty items, I recommend the BERNINA 335 and up.
Hi , I bought the bernette38b a while back, but am having sometimes difficulty with the thread under the top then threading it up, yet when I start sewing the thread tightens up. Is it possible to somehow loosen this lever up there? In desperation I packed the machine up and intended to put it up for sale. Help. Please.
We have no idea what you are talking about. If the thread feels tight threading through the take up lever, you may not be lifting the presser foot to thread which is necessary for accurate threading. No matter what machine you purchase you will still have to thread a machine this way. Be sure to watch the whole video and thread along. For more support, contact your local bernette retailer for classes and technical advice.
Both. You just need the free motion foot. www.berninaofnaperville.com/collections/bernette-sewing-embroidery-quilting-and-overlocker-accessories/products/b37-38-darning-embroidery-foot
Dual feed is a system that is built into certain models of a machine. This feature is like having a built in walking foot and is available on the bernette 77 and 79 models and BERNINA 570 through 880 machines.
Make sure that the thread is threaded from above through the thread take up lever. Be sure that the needle is inserted in the highest position. These machines can go off time easily so if retreading properly doesn’t do the trick, please visit your local BERNINA/bernette dealer for service.
Thank you for your comment. I’m not sure I fully understand your statement. There’s no need to “catch the bobbin thread” as the machine is designed to sew without pulling up the bobbin thread.
@@BERNINAofNaperville .. well, maybe the b38 is designed that way, but on page 20 of the b37 instruction manual, it shows "drawing up the bobbin thread." Would have been nice to see in person before trying it myself. There are differences between the 2 machines.

I am totally in agreement with you.
Aaaahhh, I so can’t wait to get mine but it will take about 2 weeks until I can have it delivered! I can hardly wait!!🤩
Brilliant I have the 38 and this demo was really helpful. Thank you!
Great tutorial and nice close up pictures! Thank you
Thank you so much for demonstrating these machines! they’ve got a lot of really wonderful features!
I just got my new bernette B38 today. Very excited 😛
Great video, thank you for the demonstration.

@@manous3824 I would recommend taking it in to your local dealer as we have not heard that on our machines.

Yes, the feed dogs can be dropped on this machine.

Well there’s always fast forward and pause.

Good information
THANKS
Merci pour toutes ces explications, même si la vidéo est de 2020
Can you quilt using rulers on the bernette 38

Is the b38 that quiet? Cuz that's the biggest issue I'm having with my brother on anything over 2 layers of fabric.

Hi! Which of these 2 machines can be used for free motion quilting?
Both. You just need the free motion foot. www.berninaofnaperville.com/collections/bernette-sewing-embroidery-quilting-and-overlocker-accessories/products/b37-38-darning-embroidery-foot
I need you to show me how to use the free motion presser foot please for quilting
Thank you for your suggestion this is currently not on our list of videos. Please be patient, I am one person with a tripod.
This machine does not have built in dual feed?
No. The bernette dual feed starts with the b 77 and b 79
Hi again just read all the question, what is a duel feed? Probably spelt it wrong.
Dual feed is a system that is built into certain models of a machine. This feature is like having a built in walking foot and is available on the bernette 77 and 79 models and BERNINA 570 through 880 machines.
my b37 LCD display is not working. it is showing bobbib and presser foot. what can i do/
You have your bobbin engaged. Look at the top of the machine where your bobbin winder is a move the bobbin winder spool to the left.
@@BERNINAofNaperville TY for answering...I have done that several times. I will take a good look at the winder, my dealer is 45 miles away.
@@BERNINAofNaperville It is working now. thank you
How the hell are you getting the bobbin thread to catch?! Been watching the same clip over and over again and the bobbin continues to not catch

Would have been nice if you had covered catching the bobbin thread. You went right by that into the stitching!

Don´t these machines need to be oiled?
Yes in the bobbin area right under where I took out the hook. There’s an area that looks like a candle wick. Just put a drop of oil there.
J’aurais aimé avoir une traduction en français merci
