I absolutely love my thunder power 820. If I ever find another one for sale I’m definitely going to pick it up. I think iCharger is probably one of the best chargers you can currently buy.
Good info Jeff, thanks. I agree with you as far as do not leave lithium chemistry batteries charging unattended. For those of you who have not seen a thermal runaway I assure you it is a sobering experience
So believe it or not, I have been using Lipo batteries since they came out in the hobby world. I’ve only ever had two Lipo fires in 20 years. Neither one of them was from charging. One was when lipos where brand new and I pulled to many amps from it and it popped. The other was from a crash. I always recommend to have a chemical fire stinger sure near your charging area.
Nice I’ve used a Pro Peak Sigma II for the last 15 years. Good charger and paid for its self many times over. I do wish id gotten the duel output though
I remember when that charger came out. If it’s a gray charger, there’s no reason to change it or upgrade unless you are doing different stuff now. My under power 820 is still to this day my most used charger and it has countless countless charge cycles on. Duel out put is great!
Yes, G2, smart batteries do not have a balanced lead. They do their balancing through a circuit board on the inside of the battery. in all honesty I am not impressed with their batteries.
I’ll have to look that charger up. Never heard of it before, but you can’t go wrong with an eye charger.! I’ll have to look that charger up. Never heard of it before, but you can’t go wrong with a icharger.
Excellent informational video, wow 🤩 you have some chargers 🔌 there. I use the Spektrum G2 S2200 currently, but I have an older charger that is only up to 4s but can be powered by AC/DC , which is great 👍🏻 for some of my propeller planes ✈️ but not for the 6s EDF jets. 😊
I do have a little collection lol I’ve had many more over the years but no longer have them. And I have multiple ISDT P30s that are my main charger with the 820. The S2200 I’ve heard is good charger. I’ve just had bad luck with smart battery’s. Have you had any issues?
@@westhobbiesrc8051 Have not had any issues yet with any of my 3s or 4s so far,the Spektrum 5000 Mah 100c smart batteries, or the 6800 Mah 120c Gen ll , the BlackJack 42 really wakes up with them, only 65 mph so far but I have a 3 blade that should go faster and a high rake 2 blade that should do 75ish 😉
Great video again!! I have the isdt p30 and it's a beast. I'm running it from a big computer power supply outputting 55a at 12v. Best would be a 24v power supply but this will do for now.
A detailed battery video would be great. If there’s more to the charger story that would be helpful, too. I have a few chargers but they’re all AC. I mostly use a spectrum Smart Charger - seems to be okay up to 6s batteries.
Btw, I purchased Goosky s1 and s2 birds based on your excellent videos. Plan to pick up an RS4 this summer. Loving them so far. Really appreciate your channel!
Thank you! So my personal opinion and take on LIHV is they are only really good for about the first 20 seconds or so of the flight. They are over hyped in a way. Some ESC’s won’t even initialize or they will shut down from that excess voltage. Many years ago we used to overcharge Lipo’s to get more power but again it’s really only the first 30 seconds or so of the flight is there even a noticeable power increase in at the end of the day. You’re really only gaining a volt or so total output. But I’ll definitely play more with them and see how it does.
You stated that you charge at 2-3 amps. What is the safe zone for charging a Lipo, or how fast can you charge a Lipo SAFELY? Is charging at 3amps safe as long as its NOT unattended?
I'm running two old xbox power supplies in series for 24v. Got them for free 5 years ago and still going.
That’s awesome! Sometimes those are the best power supplies.
I still used my thunderpower tp820cd great charger even now. Just just pick up icharger 458dou amazing charger.

The good power supply is definitely a must have in my opinion.. been using hitec for years with no complaints..
Are you using a Hitec X4? No issues with not charging more than 3 amps?

Another great video full of information that everyone needs to know. Keep these videos coming!
Thank you, Jeff! I greatly appreciate that. Don’t worry, these videos are not going anywhere.
Love my ISDT P30
It’s a fantastic charger!
Nice

Don't forget that G2 smart batteries do not have a balance lead . So no need to connect on those particular batteries.

Revolectrix all the way for me. When mine die I probably go icharger direction

○ No problems with my Hyperion EOS 720I. It's been a workhorse.
Great vid! Thanks for doing one on chargers. Would be great to have a more in-depth session.
I’m glad the video was helpful! I’m working on a more in-depth video on battery’s as we speak. Do you want more on the chargers?

Yes more info please.
I’ve been using gens ace imars duo since last year and it’s also a very good charger, and it cost less than the batteries for my 580 lol
thanks for this video 😎😎
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Nice Vid. What do you think of LiHV at 4.35v per cell? My ISDT P20 does those up to 7S. I have a couple friends that run them (SMC) and love them.
