Funny thing about Amell is that he has the same agressive sense of humor, in real life, as the comic book Green Arrow. But they have him play the character in the series like Batman.

I realIy hope Oliver can get as funny as Stephen one day. He has been too dark and seious in the past seasons and that Oliver Queen. They even have a funny actor why are they keep writing him like this?
Kawaii but Psycho I think they're trying to contrast Oliver's personality in the present day and the flashbacks. As Oliver Queen gets darker in the flashbacks, he becomes more snarky in the present day.
