I’ve never heard of Tom McDonald. “Maybe” because I’m not a Rap fan per se, BUT I do have respect for it. This may be lame to legitimate Rap masters, but when I watched the series “Empire,” I made a point to listen to the lyrics of their Rap songs and understood they tell stories and have messages. Like Country, just with a different beat and delivery. Later down the road, I started listening to certain political Rap songs. I think the reason I’m not “completely” into it is when I can’t keep up with what they’re saying and lose track of the lyrics, I get impatient. It then becomes “noise.” But that’s with ANY music. I just have to pick and choose a little, as with anything. With THAT being said, I guess when you can understand and relate to the words, any type of genre is touching and powerful to you, regardless of the presentation. And THIS song is POWERFUL. It’s not hate filled, it’s just speaking about observations, perceptions, AND truth. Mainly TRUTH. P.S. Greg…You have such a great personality. Your spirit and attitude is always so calming to see.
