I really liked the love triangle wolvie, then got the cell shaded and liked that even better. Then I figured this new wolverine would be THE best ML wolverine ever! But finally got it in hand now and.... I'm leaning more towards the Cell shaded wolvie. He's got bigger arms, angry head, and the cell shading don't bother me none. And I enjoy the brighter blue, it just Pops out in the collection. Idk, maybe I'll grow into the new wolvie in time.
I love the headsculpt on the new 97 one, but the only thing that sucks is the hair they tried to paint on his chin! The Mafex one is awesome & there was one Marvel Legends they did that had like an orange/yellow type paint job that was cool..
(People say we do not play anymore because we are growing old. But the truth is, we grow old because we do not play anymore..You have everything there wow.. IMPRESSIVE 😊
I prefer the new pauldrons on the 97 Wolverine but I don't like how far the wings on the mask flare out. It's accurate to the cartoon but just a tad too much for me. I took the head from the Love Triangle 3-Pack Wolverine and put it on 97 Wolvie. Thanks for the video!
Awesome collection bro. For sure its a top wolverine figure. Love the background of assorted figures. I agree though they shouldve put an angry head sculpt
If you take the little peg hole in the mafex head you can use it for your marvel legends and the peg hole pops back in tight when you want to put it back in the head
Considering I have all the Wolverine's you showed off (and probably a lot more you didn't show that I also have), I was only planning on picking up this figure if I saw it in store...and just for the Logan head. Companies in general have such a hard fucking time making a good looking unmasked Wolverine head; but customizers (like Casting Cave), no fuckin' problem. The unmasked head is pretty damn good for hasbro standards, it just sucks it's based off the new cartoon and not the (much better/less basic looking) original. The thing that actually made me glad I got it the most is the trunks. Like just doing that little bit of sculpting on the upper thighs and not taking the lazy route makes a hell of a difference. If only they'd come into full-on modern times and get rid of the ridiculous and unsightly thigh swivels...same with ab crunches.
I would love a bezerker rage wolverine, where he looks insane, battle damaged w metal bones showing!! Also I like the force wolverine style of claws!!Also why don’t they give us a big cool Sabertooth!!
The first brown suit Wolverine is from the Juggernaut wave. The figure with the more orangey yellow, that you showed in the video, is from the Apocalypse wave. I kind of like the darker yellow and blue on that figure. Bright lemon yellow and powder blue doesn't exactly scream bada$$ killer to me. Plus the mask on the Apocalypse figure is more accurate to his earlier appearances in the comics, like when John Byrne was drawing the X-Men. I'm personally not a fan of the oversized flaring mask wings. I do like the claws better on this new 97 Animated figure though. Both figures have their pros and cons.
@@Toygains Definitely not worth it just for the hands. Plus I'm pretty sure the blues wouldn't match up. The Apocalypse figure has a glossy darker blue color. Another reason I like the Apocalypse figure is that the orange-yellow is very similar to the orange on the Retro Carded Brown Suit Wolverine, so you can swap the heads of those two figures and the colors match up almost perfectly. The brown suit figure as a calm face and the tiger stripe as an angry face, so it's nice to be able to swap them around. Very similar with what you did with the cel-shaded and new '97 version of the Animated Wolverine.
10-3-23 Cool video. I own both shaded and new version, and I agree that the new animated Wolverine is the best 6" scale action figure version to date. I was wondering, is that Eric Stoltz as Rocky Dennis action figure in the background, a custom?
The belt looks way too low on the '97 one which completely kills the entire look for me. The original animated series and Jim Lee designs had them wearing their belt pretty high to where you would only see 4 out of their 6-pack. I'm guessing this is why they added the sculpt of the trunks onto the thighs because without it it would have looked like Wolvies was wearing a mankini.
Mezco is the best hand down, theyre articulation is great and they look better then everyone else. They are way more durable then you give them credit for. I have 4 of them and they all good. Ive seen people rub their wolverine in the mud and then scrub him with a toothbrush and soap and he looked brand new lol. Also I don't understand people saying mezcos have big heads. He's a slightly larger scale than the marvel legends so his head should be slightly bigger and he has a huge amount of hair under his cloth helmet obviously it will be bigger, it's essentially a durag. And he's yelling so his face is longer than normal. The human head is a little bigger than 2 closed fists, so yeah mezco wolverine head is the right size. Also the new legends one is not the same as the cell shaded at all. He has different arms, legs, head sculpt, paint, accessories and he's pinless. He looks similar yes but everything is different parts except the torso
I like mezco . But my Wolverine has a broken leg. My yellow and red daredevil's suit is disintegrating by the day. DoC nocturnal pleated is also wearing out. I'm fine with all that. Cloth good figures have a shelf life. It is what it is. And the heads on the comic figures are used on McFarlane 7 inch figures and look more appropriate. So yes they are a touch big.
@@Toygains Mezco specifically says that these are for adult collectors (i.e., this is a collectible that should be posed and left alone). These were never meant to be over-extended or forced into position. The high cost reflects the fragility and attention to detail. Really, we should be scrutinizing Hasbro and Mayfex for over charging for a collectible (or toy) that doesn't go beyond a good sculpt or paint application. Dollar for dollar, Mezco knocked it out of the park.
I dunno. It looks good, and I am always going to grab a Hasbro Wolverine, but I am noticing that the articulation of the thighs in the 97’ Wolverine is higher than the predecessors. That I s giving me a slight worry.😳
I tell my girlfriend I want to avoid “angry head” ..never need to see any teeth action ;) I will add this Wolvie to my others in the collection but I need more Brown / Tan suit Wolverine, that’s my favorite look. But when on the X-team, the Blue & Gold is a must. After seeing that Select Sabretooth I need to finally open him up to pose him & this new ‘97 Wolverine.
Yo you got some funny's ass comments man. Keep that shit coming. So I was in a store a few weeks ago and they had the brown suit Wolvie Loose for 15 bucks! I passed like a moron:( and yes open that beast up!
I think some of your arguments apply if your visual perception of Wolverine comes from the animated series. The Juggernaut wave is a great representation of the original source, which is the Giant Size X-Men one. The mask is right and the yellow is accurate. The claws still suck and I hate them. Mafex one references some of the 90s drawings which does have blue stripes and large claws. They are not wrong or bad, just different representations on what people who grew up with the cartoon and not the comics would have. Shame you didn't have the Love Triangle Wolverine to compare! Good content!
Great points! And unfortunately I passed on that love triangle pack even though I saw it at GameStop on clearance. I highly regret that decision. And thank you.
Hey off subject I have a question what do you think about the McFarlane collectors edition Superman Platinum Edition why did Todd do Superman that way with his boots making the regular kind all blue and then the Platinum red boots he just wants all of our money don't he do you think the platinum edition Superman will be rare in the future
He does it to have fans double dip and sell more figures. I don't like it, but also I don't seek out platinum edition stuff. My real issue is a "collectors edition" should have been by default the definitive Classic supes. And yes red boots will be more rare but don't over pay. He's popping up at GameStops. Or was.
VHS Wolverine takes the W for me, you can't have a Wolverine without an angry head. As for the 97 unmasked headsculpt, I could probably just get it from Ebay.
He’s one snarling head away from perfection
Glad I'm not alone in that sentiment
💯 one side snarl and you'd never need another Tiger Stripe. Love this figure!
you make some good points. I haven’t got the chance to open up mine yet but now I’m excited
Oh man do it now!

I mean both are great
That's a solid Wolverine, probably my favorite so far too. Great video.
He's really good. And Thanks for the compliment man.
All he needs is an angry masked head, everything else is perfect
Agreed
I love the headsculpt on the new 97 one, but the only thing that sucks is the hair they tried to paint on his chin! The Mafex one is awesome & there was one Marvel Legends they did that had like an orange/yellow type paint job that was cool..

Sweet! Ask and you shall receive I guess lol.
I still have my Secret Wars Wolverine action figure from when I was a kid in 1984. I believe that one was the first ever Wolverine action figure.
Had him as a kid and lost his claws. I was upset for years.
No problem!

Thanks! Glad you agree and Thanks! Please stick around
Finally the comparison I was waiting for. If I could pop the VHS angry head on there and the colors matched I would buy it immediately.
Yeah I might dry brush a flesh tone on that Cel shaded face. That combo is too good.
If you take the little peg hole in the mafex head you can use it for your marvel legends and the peg hole pops back in tight when you want to put it back in the head
Sweet! Trying now

I agree on the swivels. I'm glad you agree about the Trunks. Such a little detail makes it so much better.
That early ToyBiz has a special place in my heart.
Fun toys. Served a great purpose.
Def one of them!!! If it had the comic bulkier shoulder pads that round, then yes!!! But I know this is based off cartoon. But top 3 I think for sure!
I really like this wave so far
He is pinless, that's a big upgrade for Hasbroland.
Definitely
That saber tooth is the best period
How is that toybiz wolverine still together, I had a few of those and if I look at him wrong he would break!!!
Lol!
I would love a bezerker rage wolverine, where he looks insane, battle damaged w metal bones showing!! Also I like the force wolverine style of claws!!Also why don’t they give us a big cool Sabertooth!!

It's not glued on so you can push it up a little
I want this wolverine but in the brown suit. I'm tired of always the yellow suit. I know its his classic suit but I've always preferred the brown one.
Brown and mustard fan as well. So I get it.
Why don't you swap the arms?
Hmm, good idea
