    Thanks for doing this - I've had a Pi4 for a few months with the intention of installing astroberry - having the vid got to me finally do it and I'm up and running, home wifi and hotspot for when we're finally allowed to travel and got around to ordering a GPS receiver as well.
    Wishing everyone clear skies and great imaging

    Hi Nick, as usual a great informative video, while it did help me quite a bit, I have to say it’s not for me, so complicated to set up so may failures, I find even the basic settings difficult. So back to the Asiair plus and shelve the Altair plans. I know it’s not your fault and thanks for all your videos they really are a great help sadly though not in this case. Keep them coming.

    It may be better to blur out your SSID, but thanks for pointing me to something to do with my spare Raspberry Pi 4

    Not sure why but I can't get my WiFi network to connect. I added it in and it shows in the network configuration list, but not in the available networks area of the signal icon. Nevermind I finally got it I had to go with 2.4 band instead of 5

    I'm very new to astrophotography and I had a try with Astroberry a few weeks ago. I've used RPis extensively for other things and installed it on a spare RPi3. Perhaps that was my first mistake as I found it a bit slow and unresponsive overall. I'm sure it's much better on a RPi4. Perhaps it’s my unfamiliarity with astrophotography but I found the interface both overly complex and unintuitive to use. So far, I've been using FireCapture and AstroPhotography Tool on a laptop and I think these are both excellent. If you decide to publish further content on Astroberry in action, I'll view these with interest. For now however, I'm sticking with my laptop. The hobby is complicated enough as it is.

      I haven’t tried it on a Pi3 but can confirm it works completely fine on my Pi4. Occasionally it’s a little slow when changing between programs but I have to remember it’s outside in freezing temperatures and I’m 50ft away connecting via WiFi. I will be doing a full overview as my next Astroberry video so hopefully that’s helpful for you

    Just a heads up, Etcher can write zip compressed image files, so the decompress step isn’t necessary.

    Thanks for the video. Question: As someone who hasn't used a Raspberry Pi yet, is there an initial setup that one has to go through before using it with Astroberry?

    • @AstroExploring
      @AstroExploring  3 роки тому

      Installing Astroberry as shown in the video is the initial setup in this case. Once you’ve done that, put the SD card in the Pi and you’ll be able to connect. Hope that helps

    Hey! Great video, a few questions though, for some reason, my astroberry hotspot isnt showing up anymore and never did, so I was never able to .local the pi. Do you know why this is? The other question is, will I be able to run this from my computer using RDC (Remote Desktop Connection)? Thanks so much!

    Hi Nick. Thanks for this tutorial and glad you did! Should I get all this for my astrophotography setup? Will it be light as I'm wanting lightweight gear but I'd like to try all this. Next week I'm getting longer dove tail for my 72ed. I'm really thinking of going to Spain for holiday and take my astrophotography setup because I want to travel with this to better countries with better weather. I've been to Spain before and many places where it's really dark. I've got new laptop which isn't heavy it's light and 1TB hard drive. This setup I've got I know I can travel abroad with it. Thanks for the video and I wish I had clear nights but last night was clear till clouds started to come. You stay safe!!!

    • @AstroExploring
      @AstroExploring  3 роки тому

      A raspberry pi is very lightweight, it hardly weighs anything at all. The only thing lighter is my wallet 😉 what mount will you be taking with you? If it’s the Star Adventurer then you don’t need this, you could just use a remote shutter release cable to keep it nice and simple. Good luck with Spain, some travel and nice weather would be very welcome!

      @@AstroExploring Hi Nick. I got the K&F concept carbon fibre travel tripod as it's small compact and light. I do have the sky watcher tripod for the star adventurer. But it's not compact and light. K&F concept tripods are really good quality. This carbon fibre tripod can hold my astrophotography setup nicely even in freezing cold weather. I'd would take my astrophotography setup to USA as so many dark sky locations there. I was even thinking for a few times of Africa and South Africa to see the southern hemisphere night sky as they do have all the top deep sky objects. The more I think about this being a portable astrophotography setup I can travel with this. You've been a fantastic help to me putting this setup together and all I need is clear skies as this winter it's been a bad one up here in scotland. Stay safe Nick!

    Hello, thankyou for this video. I have followed all instructions successfully up to and including 'editing wifi connection' and creating one for my home network. Alas astroberry then logs out of the astroberry network so I then log into (use) my home wifi... I try to reload/refresh the astroberry.local page but i get either unable to to connect to network or 'this site can't be reached' any advice would be great please? FWIW this is the second flashing of the microsd card i have done and this time i set localization(sic) preferences to Uk for everything. Made no difference.

    ONCE I CHANGE TO USE MY WIFI NETWORK, I CANT ACCESS ANYMORE. I DON´T UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM DOING WRONG🙃

    • @AstroExploring
      @AstroExploring  2 роки тому +1

      For the first log on you use the astroberry hot spot. Once logged in, change the wireless settings on the Pi to connect to your home network. Now reboot the Pi and disconnect. Change your laptop settings back to using your home WiFi instead of the hot spot and connect using astroberry.local
