  • Rabbis Efrem Goldberg, Philip Moskowitz, and Josh Broide, from Boca Raton Synagogue, shmooze about contemporary issues. Every week features an unscripted and lively discussion, special guests, and a behind-the-scenes look at leading a large and dynamic Jewish community.
Special Guest: In 2016, Jude Ruchie Freuer campaigned and was elected as a Civil Court judge for the Kings County 5th judicial district in New York State, thereby becoming the first Hasidic Jewish woman to be elected as a civil court judge in New York State, and the first Hasidic woman to hold public office in United States history.
Rabbi Efrem Goldberg is the Senior Rabbi of the Boca Raton Synagogue (BRS), a rapidly-growing congregation of over 800 families and over 1,000 children in Boca Raton, Florida. BRS is the largest Orthodox Synagogue in the Southeast United States. Rabbi Moskowitz officiates at life cycle events, provides pastoral counseling, and serves as halachic advisor and close confidante to hundreds of members. Beyond the engaging and relevant Shabbat morning sermons, delivered to multiple, diverse minyanim, and the numerous regular classes and shiurim in the Shul, Rabbi Moskowitz regularly teaches Torah in private homes, local day schools, and the community at large.

I think it would be helpful for your viewership if you put the name of your guest first in the title, then your podcast episode #, etc., because when I just scroll thorough your playlist to choose a podcast episode, I don’t see any of the guests names, I just see what episode number it is, which makes me not click because I don’t know who you’re interviewing.

Unbelievable broadcast. She is so inspiring and even though she is a trailblazer in the chassidish community, she is quite the role model for so many in the larger orthodox community.

Btw, I love the high quality guests and the meaningful conversations you have with them on the air, and that you allow them more time to speak! However I do miss the bits of behind the bima of BRS that you used to discuss when the show started, and to hear your opinions about your personal matters as well as about topics conserning the wider (Jewish) world. Please consider making the episodes longer to allow time for both! Your big fan from Berlin, Germany

Regarding which _chasidus_ Judge Freier is part of: Her family, husband and children, are members in good standing, well liked and respected - _chashuv,_ is the term - of a number of Chasidic congregations in Boro Park.

כל כבודה בת מלך פנימה - in my humble opinion I think that people who claim to be Rabbis should teach the truth

So let's look in the gemoro. Did Hillel identify as a woodchopper? Did amora'im see themselves as shoemakers or whatever they did for a living? Jewish men and women are and have always been primarily about upholding the Torah. Then about raising children to learn and do the same. So if today men and women manage to have careers that don't only support their families but also give them satisfaction and fun, why not? Where does feminism come , which is about careers first and independence from men and kids as Fish don't need bycycles.

Is it Halachickly allowed for a jewish person to become a judge ?
For example if she has case and one of the defendants in courtroom is jewish
And she rules against him or for him according to American law but it goes against the bet din and jewish law I would think that’s a real problem for observant Jews who are supposed to keep to the Laws of the torah. What does the torah say about jews becoming a judge in a gentile society. Anyone know ?
Like imagine if she just sent someone to jail for 10 years but according to bet din that person is 100% innocent. isn’t that going against Gd and the torah? At 47.40 he asks what does she think about antisemitism does it ever work against her (def does ) & what happens when torah law conflicts with secular law how does she decide/judge on the matter. She never answers question. And he says rabbi Goldberg asked question before so he repeated question but I guess she uncomfortable to answer those questions.
    Just wondering ....
