    • @mik7564
      @mik7564 6 місяців тому +14

      I think she means cm (centimeters).
      The 1/4 measurement is a 4th of the circumference of your bust or waist measurments. so she's saying measure ypurbust, divide by 4 and measure that number out.
      But this didn't work for me because my bust width was wider than the 4th number. So what I did was take my bust circumference and measured my back half (because its smaller) and subtracted it from my bust circumference. Them I divided the remaining number in half. I.e
      Bust circumference, 33 ½"
      Back meas of # above, 14 ½"
      33½-14½=19 inches
      Divided out 19" by 2 (because we're only drawing half of the body) =9.5"
      Hope this helps.

    Hello, can you explain exactly what measurement you are dividing by 4 to get the quarter bust? I’ve seen a few people ask and I can’t work it out from your replies. The line you have drawn is a 10.75 large squares from the edge but I can’t see which measurement that corresponds to dividing by 4.

    • @LAoMARAo
      @LAoMARAo Рік тому +6

      Hi, is the measurement from the bust.
      The circunference of your bust. To take this measurement measure around your body at the bust make sure the tape measurement is straight on the back and is located on the nos prominent part of your bust usually where the nipple is.
      Then you divided by 4, because we are only drafting 1/4 of the torso.
      Usually in pattern drafting the body is divided by 4, 2 parts for the back and 2 parts for the front and we only draft one part of each and then we mirror them.
      Hope this explanation was helpful

    Unsure what went wrong for me, at face value it looked like a very easy tutorial but when I finished my pattern the sizing was really not good. The bust cups didn't curve around at all and the center left too wide a gap between cups. Would be helpful if you added more explanations as to why you you added certain lengths here and there because i don't think they translated well for a larger bust size.

    What did you mean by "add 1/4 bust"? Take the full bust measurement and divide it by 4? it is easier to follow than most patterns, but I could use some more explanation of where some of these measurements come from. I followed as best I could, and I was off on things but kind of found a way to make it work. I'm still new to pattern making for my body size and type.

    Bonjour vous pouvez peut etre m'aider, dans l'ensemble je vous remercie car le tuto est bien expliqué, cependant j'ai des soucis au niveau du bonnet. A parti de 2min40 lorsque vous tracer la partie supérieure, vous mesurez de 3 cm le haut pour tracer le bas de la bande mais ensuite, vous rejoignez les deux bords sur la ligne poitrine, pour vous cela fait 3 cm mais sur mon modele, cela ne fait pas du tout le meme resultat ma ligne over the bust est bien plus haute ce qui fait que j'ai les cotés de la bande haute qui soit son plus grands que le milieu ou alors si je reste sur les 3 cm partout, ils ne rejoingnent pas la ligne de buste , que dois je faire ? aussi, apres test (en baissant ma ligne dessus de poitrine pour remedier a cela) le bonnet n'est pas assez courbé il reste trop plat par rapport a ma poitrine.

    This video stands head and shoulders above all others imho because most people can copy a detailed pattern from a drafting book and not really understand why this and why that but THIS video gives the viewer an UNDERSTANDING as to WHY the lines go the way they do, it joins ALL the dots of UNDERSTANDING to take flat pattern making to the Human 3D Form and it's absolutely amazing to say the very least. I've been drafting from books for some time and creating clothes BUT even I've a much better understanding of viewing the drafted flat pattern as if it's on the mannequin like reverse engineering the whole concept and I'm ever so grateful for this video and the time you have taken to share, much gratitude, have a blessed week

    Hello madame, when you say to add 1/4 of the bust what does that mean please? for example: my bust measurement is 24cm:4=6 cm I found that it was small compared to what you showed, a little confusing, thanks for the tutorial,

    Hello, first of all thank you for the amazing tutorial an all the effort you put in it 💕
    I am currently making a pattern with your tutorial and I have one or two questions. I'm sorry to bother you but it would be nice if you or someone else could help me.
    1/4 of my bust measurement is the same as 1/4 of my waist + 3 cm. I can't draw the diagonal line at the side seam. Is this a problem?
    Also if I measure the middle of the waistline it's not under the middle of the bust width line, like on your pattern - so my dart is angular to the side. Is it important that it's the middle of the waistline or more important that it's under the middle of the bust?
    Greetings

      Hi, thanks for the feedback and kind words. You can shift the location of dart being from the center of the bust is not a problem. You can reduce the allowance at the waist and make it 1 or 2 cm. Even if the line is straight, it’s not a problem. Everyone has a different body and the pattern is in relation to him. I made a video for that correction, it can help you.

    Thank you so much for this, it was really easy to follow! Please i’d like to know what the “seam side”(the line after the “over the bust” line) is for and how to adjust it according to my measurements.

    Thank u a lot for the tutorial 😊..It's normal if my circumference of my bust 82, then add 1/4 bust = 20,5 And my 1/4 waist +3 is 21?... can i ask How will I draw a line from above to the waist point if 1/4 bust is smaller than 1/4 waist + 3?

    Hi! Thank you for the tutorial! My issue is that if i add my full bust width, it is larger than the 1/4 bust I marked earlier and thus larger than the dart. How do I draw the cup of the top? Thank you !

    hello fantastic video hope you bring us more. but am lost at 4:40 to 4:55 and from 5:50 to 6 those lines how did you measure to get them at the front an at the side seam towards the back

    • @margaritafashionstudio405
      @margaritafashionstudio405  2 роки тому

      Hello and thank you,
      4:40 you measure the height of the upper part of the cup, you apply this length from the upper end of the lower part of the cup. This way you get the height of the middle of the bustier.
      Do the same on the other side of the cup. This removes the empty space between the bottom and top of the cup.

    One thing is a little hard for me to understand. That first vertical line is 1/4 of bust. The second is 1/4 waist plus 3cm. But waist line is longer than bust line so why does it come out shorter on your end?

    • @marijanesic2542
      @marijanesic2542 2 роки тому

      Nvm I think I figured it out, you measured your bust and waist off camera? I used 1/4 of the bust and waist line at first, I’m guessing that’s wrong

    • @margaritafashionstudio405
      @margaritafashionstudio405  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, thanks for the feedback.
      First you apply 1/4 bust to the bust line and draw a vertical line to the waist. Then at the waist you mark 1/4 waist + 3 cm (we use them for dart )
      If the size of the waist is the same, or larger than the bust, it is normal to be outside from the bust line.
      I hope I helped you🙏
