He proceeds to tell me he’s been actually listening to the lyrics and it’s motivated him to quit drugs. He did. Shit was wild. Truly a special fucking album.

They got me into hardcore. Might not be as popular in the scene anymore nowadays but they still got my respect for getting me into the scene. Also on a side note, it’s dope that they brought a set list that’s more hardcore oriented for this type of fest.
Only the singer has been there since the beginning, there’s been like 20 different people in the band behind him. Like most hardcore bands it’s a revolving door until the band is just the name and no one is in it anymore that used to be. Edit, My bad, the bassist is og too, and original drummer came back.
Grew up with these dudes...my first show was jasta 14 in 1994 in some random ass busted basement in Bridgeport, CT and less than a year later seen a newly formed Hatebreed at the same place! Nothing will ever top Connecticut hardcore shows in the early-mid 90s!

I remember the first time hearing hatebreed on college metal radio. I thought I was listening to the new sepultura. It was the satisfaction era. My favorite I was blown away how modern and extreme it was. I was a hungry metal head looking for new extreme bands to listen to. And then years later I would meet Jamey in person. A true hardcore hero in person. He was amazing person. He had been doing the revitalized head bangers ball. Love Ricki Rachtman but Jamey was more than a worthy successor. Metal head here but I love hardcore much love and respect for the scene always. A metal head from the hood. But I also relate to hardcore because it’s more street level than metal. But it’s all good love metal and hardcore. ❤🤘🏼🤘🏼
Hatebreed are legends. Crushing guitar tone. Ultra Heavy driving bass lines and drum lines. Excellent aggressive and catchy vocals. A band with no weaknesses.

I kind of always felt like they got pushed out of the true HC scene because of their crazy and unpredictable rise in popularity. But they’re legends and definitely helped expand the genre! This mix sounds so fucking good. Bad asss.

it's funny that record took a while to grow on me because i came in as a metal kid in 2002 i was rocking perseverance til it wore out but when i got a little older i appreciated the first two albums such a rad mix of like earth crisis meets obituary type stuff cthc was always so hard.

However, back in the early 2000’s , I was at Ozzfest in Nashville, and the 2nd stage was on gravel that year… slipknot, lamb of God, throw down and many more played and I was in every pit that hot summer day and none of those pits held a candle to hatebreeds pit. On my life, I thought I was going to die during perseverance. Sick to see them jamming just as hard still. Respect to all you rockers!
