Now, this has to be one of my favorite howl's moving castle so far I only listened to the piano version for a long time but when I saw that there was a violin and piano duet I lost it, really is one of my favorites.
I think the train scene is an allegory to growing up and the loss of childhood, which is why the bittersweet melancholy of this music fits it so well. Chihiro finds herself all of a sudden with many responsibilities from family and friendship and she takes them on gladly, but you can’t help but feel it is the beginning of the end for the child inside Chihiro. She is surrounded by shadows of adults, each with their own silent story to tell as if a reminder of what is being lost in the quest to provide for and protect those you love. The scene bears resemblance to another train scene early from anther Ghibli masterpiece, Hotaru no Haka or Grave of the Fireflies
