In Football there are 2 Transfer windows where players can be traded from one club to an other. Off season in the summer and mid-season in January. Theoretically a signed player can be traded anytime/change the club from one to another anytime during the season but only in those 2 transfer windows those players who changed from one team to an other get the needed permission from the league to then actually play for the other team. And their contracts are therefore usually designed that way in behalf the dates when those contracts start and end. Additionally if a club wants to buy from an other club a player who has still a running contract then that buying club has to bail out that player from his running contract and pay a certain sum which is in the running contract already determined in the socalled "release clause" of that contract. So if a player with a running contract wants to change the club/ or a club wants to get rid of a player with a running contract a club has to be found willing to pay the release clause sum.
@@1971emcee still my favorite fun fact of the entire show. As soon as they are in the screen together and I’m showing someone this show it’s immediately what I want to tell them.

When you're with a partner who outshines everyone around them, it can also be challenging to always be "the negative one" "the boring one" or "the lucky one" because everyone around you thinks he hung the moon. You'll basically never win an argument, never be the kids' favorite, and always play second fiddle socially. I can definitely see how someone could reach a point where they don't want to consider themselves "sooo lucky" to be married to such and amazing man, and just want to feel like the marriage is between two equals, both with their own strengths and weaknesses.
The brilliance of this show, is that it challenges both the American and British mindsets. The eternal optimism of Americans is often toxic to anyone outside of it's borders, but British nihilism while it can be practical in the most brutal sense of reality...it's a depressing way to live. As a Brit, the very idea of "Positive Vibes only" is a poison to most people, most people's lives aren't good, so facing everything with an "it's all okay" mindset negates the experience of so many people, but at the same time having a "well everything is terrible and I can't change anything, so why bother trying" mindset can leave people trapped in misery with no avenue for escape. So this show tries to draw the best of both mindsets together, it points each thought patterns flaws out and shows that a true balance is needed between the two.

There are 2 windows of time every year to transfer players. Basically in the off season through the first couple weeks of the season (approximately June through the beginning of September) and during the month of January (which is basically halfway through the season). They don't trade players though, they will just buy out the players contract from the team they are currently playing for so that they can sign them to their team. They will loan the player to another lesser team so that they can get some real game experience in hopes that when they come back they will have an easier time breaking into playing for the first team. It's so hard to describe how much we all love this show without giving spoilers. Everything we learn early on will get a call back later and we will remind you about it. Can't wait for more. And yes, the constant positive attitude is easy to fall in love with but hard to stay in love. For many it can be a coping mechanism to avoid dealing with deeper issues. A constant smile hides a lot until it is too late.
The thing about footballers "Flopping".... you don't see a chubby one. There are fat NFL players, there are fat MLB players, you get the occasional thick NBA player.... but in soccer, they are running about 8-9 kilometers total, often in a sprint. And only 3 of the 11 in total get subbed out. So, when they get knocked down, partly it is to try to get the opponent to draw a card, but a lot of times it is "I'm taking a moment to pause the game and catch my breath"
Exactly that. Some UA-camr one time said "try sprinting up and down a football pitch at full speed and have a buddy shove you over so you fall. And then see how fast you'll get up again.". But that's falsely seen as flopping. And then there's the real flopping. That does not happen that often and it's generally not approved, even by the own fans.
Everyone catches their breath too. Thats why you normally don't see the opposition try to pull them up. Its a quick 30 seconds for everyone to take a break.
"Chubby" NFL players are that way because of the position they play. Weight = power. It is a totally different type of fitness. Lets say that footballers run 8-9km (approx 5 miles) in an hour and 30 min. In American football, a player plays on average of 75 plays a game. In each football play the player uses about the same energy as sprinting 40 yards. So to see the difference. Run 5 miles in 2 hrs. (average total time for a match) one day. Then sprint 40 yards 75 times another day, in 3 hours. (average total time for a game, 1 sprint every 4.5 minutes). Sounds easy. I did not subtract half time on either sport. just keeping it simple. I did not account for a 15 min half in Soccer, or the 16 min break total for in between quarters and halftime in American football.
People need to feel things, even negative things and if youre in a place where you need to be able to feel those negative things but someone only ever tries to make you not feel those things it can be extremely damaging
Steven, further to what you said in the intro about Ted seeing Rupert for what he is: one bit that didn't make the UA-cam edit was Ted seeing what Rupert likely did regarding Robbie Williams.
I think the hardest thing is that it really wasn't anything Ted did or didn't do, that was his whole realization of "if there was something I could do to help you be happy, I'd do it," but it just was that Michelle fell out of love with him, which happens. Obviously, toxic positivity isn't great, but sometimes people just fall out of love and that's so heartbreaking when it happens to Ted who is such a great person.
Being content within yourself and just a generally happy upbeat person is one thing but… being anxiously positive because you’re covering for deep deep wounds that you refuse to heal, and you also refuse to take anyone else’s grief seriously because it makes you uncomfortable to “go there” is totally different thing… Ted is both. He’s a really good person, and a deeply wounded person who masks his inability to handle his pain with “joy”. And that would be exhausting as a partner. Especially if Michele is emotionally intelligent… or had her own trauma. It wouldn’t be manageable. You’re only a few episodes in.. but you’ll start to see the signs. Remember not to judge anyone too fully before you see all the evidence. This is like the warm and fuzzy game of thrones. Your assumptions will be challenged.
To me, the best way to think about Ted's problem is, his biggest strength is also his biggest weakness. Thats gotta suck. I think you guys are gonna really like this series.

About the Premier League transfers, you can trade players, but it´s so so rare. When they do it, is usually with money envolved because of some rules, like finantial Fair-Play. Jamie´s character is on loan from Manchester City to AFC Richmond. Loans are an option for transfer, mostly for one season. Some loans have buy options clauses and in some you can also decide to get the player back to is own club if you're not satisfied with the performances or other things. The most commun transfers in the Premier League are: 1 - Pay a fee to the club that has the rights of the player. 2 - Get the player as a free agent when he has no more contract with a team.
Oh, Jamie. I wonder what’s going to happen with hiiiiiiiim. 😏 I always appreciate depicting a breakup where nobody did anything *wrong*. These things happen, even to really great people.
People never stop changing. With every experience, we evolve. You are literally not the same person you were 5 years ago, 10 years ago, etc. And sometimes, in relationships, people evolve in different directions. It's no one's fault. It's not a bad thing. It's just life. It is only a tragedy when you try to force yourself to stay in a marriage that is already dead. That's when everyone gets hurt, parents and kids. Accepting the reality that the relationship is over is far better.
@adventuresinlaurenland well, speaking for myself, I have changed. 40 year old me is far different than 20 year old me, and I didn't even have any huge events or traumas in my life. And I know that in 10 or 20 years, I will be far different than I am now. Evolution isn't sudden, it's slow and gradual and you're not really aware of the differences until you pause and truly consider them.
My problem with this is it's fine to evolve in a different direction if you're in a relationship. If you're in a MARRIAGE you're supposed to grow together. If you evolve so much that you feel like divorce is necessary, I feel like someone didn't hold up their end of the bargin.
@usafa2000 that might be true in some instances, but sometimes you can do everything possible to try to save a marriage and still be miserable. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, and there is no shame in accepting that. Sometimes the death in "til death do you part" is the marriage itself and trying to force yourself to stay married because you think you have to is unhealthy and unfair.
@@usafa2000 Your viewpoint is very common for people who are young and naive. They want the world to make sense and to be something they can predict and control. But as years pass and you grow in maturity and experience, you will see that the truth is far more mysterious and complex than you can currently comprehend.
I’m glad you guys were empathetic towards his wife. Some reactors are slightly dismissive about her feelings. We love Ted and his relentless optimism but it’s fair that what appealed when you were teenage sweethearts or a young couple might not cut it when you’ve matured and are tackling grown up problems. I think a common communication problem that occurs in couples is when one partner wants to vent and commiserate but the other partner immediately enters “solution mode” where they’re trying to fix the root issue… but that’s not always want someone needs.
Also it makes it so much sadder that there’s legitimately nothing “wrong” with either of them. She’s crying because she feels horrible for hurting Ted.
I agree. Michelle, like the other characters, is a complex character, and how she feels is just as valid as how Ted feels. They tried. Sometimes it doesn't work out. They're talking like adults, they're both committed to working together to raise Henry, there's nothing wrong with either of them.
@@JulietteReactsI wasn’t mad at her for having complex feelings. I just think her expecting it to “feel like it did in the beginning” is mind-bogglingly immature. It’s not reasonable to expect a long-term relationship to just keep feeling like the honeymoon phase. Entering into a marriage is a big deal, it’s a covenant and a choice you make every day expecting that things will change and some times will be really hard. For her to want out because it doesn’t feel like it did in the beginning is so incredibly selfish and juvenile. Of course she can’t help how she feels but she made a promise and you stand by that promise. **It shouldn’t need a caveat, but obviously this doesn’t include things like abuse and breaking of the marriage covenant through betrayal and cheating, etc.
Before I retired, I spent 35 years as a chef for various Disney restaurants. My work week was usually 60 hours per week. In three and a half decades working for the Mouse, I think I maybe had ten Christmases off. I never had a weekend off, and often after work I would shower then head straight for bed. My marriage was rocky toward the end, and I am sure that had my wife not become terminally I'll we'd have divorced. I lost her to cancer and not to my career... and I lost my career because I needed to be there for our kids. The point of all this is you never know how it will happen.
Football info (trading players is point #2): 1) You were close with the relegation/promotion info, but the names were a little off. In England, it's the Premier League >> Championship >> League 1 >> League 2 >> other leagues. Other countries will have different names but the same system of bottom 3 teams drop to the league below and top 3 move up a league. What you mentioned though (this was in the previous video) is the Champion's League. This is a different thing all together, the best teams (usually top 2-4, depends on the country) enter a season long continental-wide tournament to see who's the best of the best in Europe, or North America, or whatever other continent (yes, MLS teams compete against Mexican vs different Carribbean, etc). 2) Trading is only available during 2 windows, the off season (June to about August 30) and during the winter/Christmas period. So trading Jamie in general is not an option. BUT Jamie is under something different. He's officially part of a different...bigger team (Manchester City in this case). Teams like these will usually loan their young players to another team for half a season or a full season at a time (the intention is to give Jamie game time, because he's not likely to get that time on the main team because this team is FULL of starters), and the main team can recall the loan.
Woof, woof, woof woof! Can't answer the question about if players can be tranfered or not right now... Enjoy the next episode. You really will enjoy the next episode. Football is life!!!! Diamond dogs out.
Y'all the Premier League has a summer transfer window and a January transfer window where there's a lot of movement of players from one team to another and it includes other teams in Europe and elsewhere not just the English ones. There are transfer fees involved where really it's one team "buying" a player from another team. There are loan deals also, and some players whose contracts have expired can transfer on a free which means without the transfer fee.
Yes, premier league clubs can agree to either sell or loan a player to another premier league club, or any club for that matter, even abroad. But it can only be done twice a year when the transfer window is open- during the summer months (the off season) or in January (the middle of the season). As for Jamie Tartt, he's actually on loan at Richmond. He's actually a Manchester City player
They have transaction windows in the premier league. During the summer and one during the winter. Teams are allowed to trade players. Not just from other premier league teams but all teams, from other leagues.
And the funny thing is that despite Rupert owning the club all those years Richmond won nothing. Never won the Premier League, never won the FA Cup, never won the EFL Cup, never qualified for the Champions League or Europa League. Nothing and acts like he was amazing
For some clubs, simply staying in the Premier League is both the goal and the reward, competitively and financially. Clubs may not admit it publicly, and fans might not like to hear it, but survival in the top flight is success, even if it doesn’t result in titles, trophies or European football.
a big hurt you can not know you're putting on someone who processes stress and emotion differently, when you have very dominant social processing (be it deterministic optimism to someone who has internal reactive moods, or another unshared dynamic) is the person you think you're helping might feel additional stress to please your gesture, they might feel invalid like they're 'choosing' to not be positive, and they might just feel alone and eventually resentful (there's a counterintuitive reaction where people who do things a lot "for others" are later resented by those who feel like they "owe" that person)
19:10 The matches are 90 minutes long, two 45-minute halfs. The flopping (or diving) is to gain some rest or to slow your opponent down & drop the pace of the game when you're getting destroyed by them
I've moved on to the "Music Video" portion of my evening (having had a whole bunch of drinks already), but this is definitely the first thing I'm watching in the morning (with my breakfast whiskey...I'm on vacation after all).😉🥃 Also, something just occurred to me. I know Y'all don't do music reactions, but it would be fun to see you react to some Lainey Wilson vids, since you're already fans from Yellowstone.
Worth noting was that Ted only mentioned "constant optimism", but I can imagine that it is just one example of many problems between them. While I can imagine that it can be fairly annoying at times, it really doesn't seem like the only reason why she fell out of love with him. Usually there are multitudes of small problems.
There's definitely such a thing as "toxic positivity" (the first Inside Out movie dealt with it really well) You have to be able to feel negative things sometimes as part of the process of getting through them. Yes, having someone to help you look on the bright side during hard times can be of great benefit but you cannot look on the bright side 100% of the time & be psychologically healthy. It just means you're bottling up the negative emotions and never working through them.
The Premier League transfer windows (when players are “traded”) begins during the summer off season but doesn’t end until after the season starts and then again mid way through the season in January.
It's not just in the Premiere League but in the whole sport you can transfer players, for money. Just like trade deadlines, there's a time when you can do it (in the summer before the season starts and in January). It's not a trade though, so you just get money that you can use to try and get other players. Some teams sell their young stars and invest in youth as a business model, teams that make enough money can buy those young uprising stars and then the big teams just buy the big stars for lots of money. In this case, you'd be getting rid of your best player because he has an attitude when maybe benching them like that and still winning could help teach them the lesson that it's team first. You wouldn't want to just get rid of the one player that can reliably score goals for you.
Fun fact: Ted in real life was going thru the exact same thing with his wife while or just before making the first season. Flying to England and being away from his kids, etc
While at times players do try and sell fouls in football…even when plays get their heels stepped on by a the studs of a boot, ppl still don’t seem to comprehend how much that hurts. They are more vulnerable than American football players and when you’re running at full speed little things that trip you up do hurt.
In the premier league you buy and sell players you don’t trade players.. I wanna answer Steve’s question but don’t want to wreck future episodes.. but in the end you can sell say player A for x amount and u can buy player B for amount of u can loan out players to a team for x amount of months or u can loan players in from other teams for x amount of months is how it works. So buy and sell or loan in or out is all u can do in premier league
"You mean like the entire NBA?" YES!!!! You two are great! Glad you are finally watching and reacting to this amazing show. I loved season 1 and 2. Season 3 was a bit of a drop off for me but I look forward to many more reaction videos
Teams in football (soccer) trade players all the time, usually for a whole season at a minimum, though there have been exceptions. However, Jamie is a trade, his contract is owned by Manchester City.
LOL I love your comments about being unable to watch mens soccer because of the flopping. You should try watching the NWSL here in the united states. They instantly roast each other if someone flops.
The excessive flopping in football/soccer & the NBA is exactly why I just watch the NHL now. Those guys have actually injuries and just play through them, when necessary, like it’s nothing.

I’m an occasional viewer (GoT Sticker Alum), but I am enjoying this Ted Lasso ride with you folks. 🥳
Oh, Jamie. I wonder what’s going to happen with hiiiiiiiim. 😏 I always appreciate depicting a breakup where nobody did anything *wrong*. These things happen, even to really great people.
don’t forget: hurt people hurt people
I forgot to mention in the last video...Diamond Dogs is actually a perfect name for us fans of you two. You'll see why. 🥰
Come on the Brewnicorn was funny!
21:00 - Oh, shit! I don't remember Isaac doing that for Nate.
Yep, and Roy was right there to notice it. Just like later on during movie night etc...
Nobody can make another person happy...sadly.
Love You Both, thanks for watching this show!
Love that you both are reacting to this series! I click immediately when I see it pop up!
Love rewatching all of these with you.
I completely disagree. People don't change, you are who you are from a very young age, you just learn how to compartmentalize.
@ totally! I find it really bizarre when people are super mad at her for having complex feelings like any normal human.
Let’s gooo, love watching this and its reactions, makes me so joyful
I hope you guys are making money on this UA-cam channel. You deserve it.
Without spoiling anything. The changes throughout the show are so amazing
Hi Nikki and Steven, love your reactions
Like every good comedy, Ted Lasso is backed up by a solid tragic and human story in the background.
Love this show sm!
YOu guys are just getting into it and the discussions are great! Keep it up!
Wow, guys, I love your reactions so much! So mature and insightful. Thanks!
Keep in mind that Ted does not know Rebecca’s intentions.
Football info (trading players is point #2):
1) You were close with the relegation/promotion info, but the names were a little off.
17:03 Just curious, how exactly does someone "ruin" Baby Shark? 🤔😁
Who's looking forward to seeing Nikki & Steven react to that OTHER darts scene?
loved it. bring ted lasso reactions coming
Woof, woof, woof woof! Can't answer the question about if players can be tranfered or not right now... Enjoy the next episode. You really will enjoy the next episode. Football is life!!!! Diamond dogs out.
Someone already answered the question about transferring players above in the comments because SOME people don't understand how spoilers work.
@@thechonus3858 Am I [All capitals] Some? people??? and what spoilers? Just said they will enjoy the next episode. Football is life!!!
Football like the PL in the U.K. any player that goes down the time is added at the end of the half.
Great, great Reaction. You are my favs. Keep it up. Go the Diamond Dogs.
And so it builds, the jamie hate 😊
Yeah people are assuming so much… hurt people hurt people.
So excited for the next episode ☺️
The flopping (or diving) is to gain some rest or to slow your opponent down & drop the pace of the game when you're getting destroyed by them
I've moved on to the "Music Video" portion of my evening (having had a whole bunch of drinks already), but this is definitely the first thing I'm watching in the morning (with my breakfast whiskey...I'm on vacation after all).😉🥃
Also, something just occurred to me.
Well in the next episode u will get an insight on trading players, having players on loans works etc.
YAY!! I was hoping for a new reaction.
Seeing people react to "10%" of Ted Lasso is quite fun because there's 90% that they don't even know that they haven't seen yet. 😂
Here. We. Go!
Without ruining the rest of the series, Michelle has more backstory than most at this point regarding Ted.
Fun fact: Ted in real life was going thru the exact same thing with his wife while or just before making the first season. Flying to England and being away from his kids, etc
“Like basketball” lol
While at times players do try and sell fouls in football…even when plays get their heels stepped on by a the studs of a boot, ppl still don’t seem to comprehend how much that hurts. They are more vulnerable than American football players and when you’re running at full speed little things that trip you up do hurt.
If you love entertainingly positive characters then I cannot wait for you to see next week's episode
Even though splitting up is hard, it's nice that there is a split up on television that's not full of loud bitterness.
So buy and sell or loan in or out is all u can do in premier league
you guys should watch Prison Break
Roy, the unibrow centipede eye brow guy 😊
I was worried you wouldn’t get how tiresome Ted’s positivity would be 24/7. We think that’s something we aspire to, but in reality it’s not healthy.
I feel like you guys would be fun to chill with.
Sam is The Man!
I want to be a Goldfish 🥹
If you like this show, I think you'll like Shrinking. Good character development and clever writing.
"You mean like the entire NBA?" YES!!!! You two are great! Glad you are finally watching and reacting to this amazing show. I loved season 1 and 2. Season 3 was a bit of a drop off for me but I look forward to many more reaction videos
It hurts so good!
Teams in football (soccer) trade players all the time, usually for a whole season at a minimum, though there have been exceptions. However, Jamie is a trade, his contract is owned by Manchester City.
HONESTLY YES! The NBA is exactly like FIFA in the foul/acting flopping BS y’all acknowledged exactly why I can’t watch NBA anymore
Nice RVD mention!
LOL I love your comments about being unable to watch mens soccer because of the flopping. You should try watching the NWSL here in the united states. They instantly roast each other if someone flops.
19:15 YES Nikki, YES!!!
9:50 and that's how you get Salmonella poisoning.
The excessive flopping in football/soccer & the NBA is exactly why I just watch the NHL now. Those guys have actually injuries and just play through them, when necessary, like it’s nothing.
Footballers are the biggest 😺 in all of sport I'm with you Steven
“Like the entire nba” 😂 straight facts. Unwatchable. Direct shot at leflop ❤
