I enjoyed Bullet Train and it made me really want to read the book because I couldn’t imagine what it must be like. Several of the others here I want to get to, Tar at the top of that list. I watched a lot of backlisted films and classics last year. Haxan was a favorite, as well as Paris is Burning. Great list!
The book is different in interesting and uninteresting ways. The characters are mostly the same except the little girl is a little boy, and the relationship between him and the guy’s son, is much more elaborate and even a major focus. It cuts between that story and the train. The ending is waaaay different too. But same vibes. Tár is just soooo dang good. If there was a #1 spot, I think it’d be that one. I haven’t seen those classics! I hope to watch more backlisted stuff this year.
how did i miss this video!!! 😭😭😭 sorry! playing catch-up! still need to watch Bullet Train because it's a lot of fun, and man oh man i've heard some good things about Maverick but my eye-roll just CAN'T. i'll perhaps do it one day when my nostalgia for old school homoerotica kicks in. Tar, yes oh yes, it is a perfect movie. i have my eyes on She Said and Fleishman Is in Trouble! love me anything Eisenbergy hehe a wonderful top 10! some worthy films that i don't think got enough love so it was good to see them represented here! :) can't wait to see what 2023 looks like for you in films! happy viewing ✨🍿
I was interested to know what I’d missed, since I only watched a handful of movies or tv series in 2022. I had no idea that Fleishman Is in Trouble had been made into a movie (but I thought the book was clever.) My faves: CODA and the Station Eleven adaptation.
I know! I hadn’t heard it was being adapted! I want try it on the page and not audio. See what happens. I had heard CODA was great. I don’t have Apple+ though :\ Station Eleven almost made the list! I loved it far more than the book, actually.
A few of these movies have been already on my radar, some others I had never heard of. So thanks for pushing me to check more of them out. I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant to watch the latest Matrix, because I was such a big fan of the franchise. But your review made me confident that it is not going to ruin anything nostalgia for me. And what do you mean exactly by saying watching movies ruined your reading last year? How can I take this complaint seriously, if it comes from someone who read 500 books or something like that?
It won’t ruin the nostalgia and I think it’s really good at interrogating nostalgia and is a neat way of doing a retrospective even! I don’t mean watching tv ruined my reading, I mean I tended to read and watch new releases, which was unusual for me!
Everyone can do without hot dog fingers. 😂 I’ve seen Maverick and Elvis. Many of the movies you talk about sound great. A few I’ve never heard of. I really want to see the documentary on Paul Newman and maybe She Said. 😊💙
Everything Everywhere All At Once is one of the best films I've ever seen and Top Gun I absolutely hated. I acknowledge the stuff with the films is outstanding but everything else is so poor. I've somehow never heard of 3000 years of longing but it sounds fascinating. Really appreciated your thoughts on Elvis. I need to watch TAR and She Said. ok i also bailed on Fleishman is in trouble and wasn't sure if I was gonna bother with the show but I'm glad to hear it's good. Thanks for sharing your favourites.
Interesting to see matrix on this list. I've been avoiding it because I disliked the second and third films. Maybe I'll reconsider. I kept meaning to watch everything everywhere all at once in 2022 but never got around to it. I am so excited to see ke huy Quan acting again!
I liked all of the movies, to varying degrees. The themes of the new one are great, I think. A nice springboard from the trilogy, but if you only liked the first one, I’m not sure how it would land. Yes! EEE was just a masterpiece imo.
Great video, I really enjoyed "Everything Everywhere...." agree, hot dog fingers were little...strange...but tbh I couldn´t stop laughing 🙈 I loved Elvis, really enjoy Baz Luhrman´s movies in general. Oooh didn´t know about E. Hawk´s movie, need to check it out! Absoluetly adore Cate Blanchet, looking forward to see her movie.
I have yet to watch Yellowstone 🤷♀️ everything everywhere was so strange! It needs to be watched several times to follow what is going on. Yes! Bullet train ❤❤ smart in the way it is stupid 🤣
Yellowstone is reaaalll masculine in a lot of ways, but I like it a lot. People around here really like those kinds of shows so it’s a big deal. Haha yeah! It’s hard to explain why Bullet Train is brilliant but it really is smart for a dumb movie, imo!!
I loved Bullet Train!! I'm such a sucker for an action comedy
It’s so fun! And funny! Or I found it to be so in the mood I was in. Thinking it would be just terrible.

Liked Bullet Train and Elvis. Added several more from this list to my list. Thanks!
I hope you like the others too!
Tar was one of my favorite movies as well. It was a haunting movie. I think Cate Blanchett was great and the ending was something.
It was very exceptional!
Cate Blanchett can do no wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by Fleishman’s In Trouble. It went so much deeper than I expected.
True and true! I didn’t even know it was being adapted until suddenly Disney+ puts it on my Home Screen!
I never heard of the genie movie but it looks gorgeous! I'll have to look it up
It’s sooo good!!
There was a new Matrix movie! I had no idea. Everything Everywhere All at Once! I love that movie. The hotdog fingers were innocent! Innocent!
The hot dog fingers were too far!
Mhmhm a fourth matrix movie! Mhm!

Thanks so much! No worries!! It’s so hard to keep up with all the videos!!!

I hope you like them! I found the hotdog fingers hauntingly disturbing lol

Fleishman is pretty weird and takes investment, I’m glad I didn’t give up on it but can totally see why people would bail earlier!!

Thank you! Yes hot dog fingers really freaked me out for some reason lol Elvis was so good! I hope you like the other two movies if you get to them!

The hotdog fingers! Does the ketchup and mustard come from them, or have they put it on themselves?!?!
I don’t even want to know it makes me shiver!!
