I got iced in black River Falls Wisconsin on New years in 2021! Got help up with my drop point hours earlier! Knew the weather was coming but trying to tell a dock worker or shipping clerk to hurry up ?? Good luck with that ! Got my rig safely off the road that night in the rest stop area! No accidents but everything was covered in black ice ! Still have video of it till this day!
I drove nationwide for nearly 4 years and never saw anyone do what the Matheson truck was doing. Highly dangerous. The trucks that were stopped in the driving lanes is inexcusable even in these conditions. Idiots. The truck that was sliding with his steers turned to the left is also stupid. Even if you’re sliding you should be trying your best to get on the shoulder and out of lanes. The Bison driver was a disappointment too. A Canadian knows better. Park on the shoulder until the sand truck passes then hit the next exit ramp. Anybody that stayed on the roads shown in the video were putting their lives and everyone elses in danger.
Today, the "Canadian" drivers are not Canadian. There are literally thousands of newly-arrived Permanent Residents (usually from southeast Asia or Africa), freshly "trained" drivers who are likely driving their very first winter (no other winter driving experience) and their company has provided ZERO training in winter driving. Their first experience in these conditions is on the freeways driving a semi/tractor-trailer.
I've driven with 2 wheels in the grass like that truck, just to get traction when there was ice on the pavement. I've done it with pickups and a motorcycle!
*I'm hoping everyone will stay safe today and in the future. Tons of traffic in the next little while.* A*s a trucker, I am glad I am not on the roads this winter. (Injury). Having been a driver for over 30 years, winter still creeps me out at times. I don't doubt my skills. I doubt the roads and the unpredictable weather where I live.*
When I drove otr my motto was that the freight that was in my truck was not organs for transplant therefore I’m not risking my life. Mind you I did play beat the snow or tornado or other significant weather events but I always calculated the day before and verified the morning of. Too many drivers don’t prepare anymore.
Weather can be sudden and unpredictable.Road conditions can change quickly too.Yes checking the weather forecast can help but things can change on a dime.Big trucks usually try to get off the road and park but sometimes you end up being in.a weather event
Well, of course you don't always know exactly what conditions will be from the forecasts. And unfortunately, the way truck drivers are paid, if they park to wait for weather they lose money (or lose a day sitting in their truck, however you want to look at it).
Have driven in every type of road condition including a run away vehicle down a mountain and through a cyclone on 101. Ice is avoid avoid avoid. No control on ice. Hope everyones safe and warm there
I would never even think of going out knowing it was like this. I have been caught when the weather shifts unexpectedly and then I'm white knuckling it till I find a place to stop. Glare ice even though it has a texture is mighty troubling to drive on.
Those who don't know, there is a TIRE GRIP spray, you spray on threads, not on a side like a tire shine sprays, it forms a fresh rubber layers, good to drive about 50 miles, eBay sells them, can has a blue top. Lifetime skier here, have that can spray in trunk always on ski season, did helped twice, been more than 5yrs, still holds the pressure, great alternative of snow Chains or snow Socks.... drive safe ✌️
My new years Eve drinks that night were I got 2 cherry flavored 7up's and a few packs of cheese and Beef sticks ! The vending machines were almost empty they hadn't filled em yet because of the weather, Be safe brother truckers !
I was going to Winnipeg and a clown from S##### was a few feet behind me forcing me to exceed the speed limit. No mercy to anyone who exceeds the speed limit or travelling too fast for road conditions.
I have ZERO sympathy for people caught in conditions like this. If you decide to live in North Dakota or Minnesota, this is what you get. It's like marrying someone you met at an AA meeting and then being upset that they have a drinking problem.
🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ shame on these truck drivers. better to just have late freight and angry dispatch than to wreck or cause a wreck. they should have looked at the weather ahead of time and trip planned.
Sometimes it's not that easy , do you know how hard it is to tell a dock worker to hurry up ! Or tell that to a shipping clerk ! They don't care about you or truckers ! They get pissed and they'll burn up a truckers whole drive clock on his ELD and the stupid state troopers and DOT ain't any better! They'll close the weigh stations and go home and leaving less places for the truckers to park and be safe ! They'll literally lock the on ramps to get in so they can't park ! And then the Troopers charge truckers with Hours of service violations on their ELD's that's electronic Logging Device ! And brokers and Dispatchers! They force Truckers on the road ! It's not the truckers making the choice , I hope I helped you? and merry Christmas!
Drive slow folks. Getting home safely is all that matters. I've driven in snow with a front wheel drive 4 cylinder for over 20 years, and I've always made it home safely.
Never be afraid to tell your company you are parking!
I used to live in Fargo. Now, I just sit back and love watching these winter storm videos from my home in Phoenix, AZ. 🤣🤣
No screwing around when driving here.
Yep, its not going to be a fun time.
I am glad I'm retired. When the weather gets like this, I just make some hot chocolate and watch the weather outside.

The wind is a game changer when driving high profile vehicles on ice.
Wind along with either a light load or empty van!

That is a nightmare.

Imagine how easier it would be if they checked the weather forecast before getting on the road.

@@micbroc6435 Most of them I've seen in these videos aren't even dressed for winter, much less watching a forecast.

I’m from ND and this was all forecasted properly. They told us it was going to be like this two days in advance.
This happens every single year and this is supposed to shock and surprise us? Fargo is cold....no sheet Sherlock
Great video! Now I understand why you were parked on that overpass, thanks for giving me space as I was going down the entrance ramp! 😉😊

Nothing like driving on ice 🧊
Yep,snows one thing but ice, NO WAY!!
I would never even think of going out knowing it was like this.

From Fargo To Jamestown Can Be Treachous When Icy

Ice is the most dangerous road condiction.
That is miserable weather to be out on roads.
A Swift driver jack knifed on a straight road no, way... take pictures once in a lifetime event.
GET OFF THE ROAD!
They can't close the highway?
No winter tires
semis dont have the option for "winter tires"
Hate to say, but your wipers running really fast are very annoying.
I agree 💯

I live in Louisiana and love it.. 55* is considered cold..
Those were all so scary! How do you find them? I'm afraid to go out now!
At times like this im glad im out of service and waiting to be fixed....
Driving on the grass, like that, is a great idea. I never thought of it, duh.
I was going to Winnipeg and a clown from S##### was a few feet behind me forcing me to exceed the speed limit. No mercy to anyone who exceeds the speed limit or travelling too fast for road conditions.
I’d say most of these people driving around in this have no real good reason to be driving around in this. Stay home!
I've been on icy roads bumper to bumper on an interstate. Got off and got a room. Pipes froze and no heat! They would not give a refund!
I have ZERO sympathy for people caught in conditions like this. If you decide to live in North Dakota or Minnesota, this is what you get. It's like marrying someone you met at an AA meeting and then being upset that they have a drinking problem.
Thank God theres no ice in your mommy's basement or you'd really be in trouble lil Skippy !
it was in the mid 50s yesterday in the cities and eastern half of the state. Heavy rain winter hasnt even arrived yet
$10 says we get a full on blizzard season jan-febuary
Before I bet I want to know what you are predicting. Are you claiming that Jan and Feb will be WAY colder, windier with more snow than average?
Kinda exciting though, i turned 16 in the winter and road a motorcycle in mid Michigan. But ot not for everyone, front wheel drive is a Major help!
You,as the driver is the captain of the ship not a dispatcher sitting in his cozy office.
Number one rule during an ice storm. If you can't safely walk on the pavement, don't even think of driving on it. Common Sense 101.
What a nightmare!!!!! 😳😳😳....
Give me Moorhead NOW.
its going to rain all night
🙏

De-Icer re-freezes at 5 DEGREE
Wow, stopping IN LANE in icy conditions - that is a special kind of stupid.
Some salt would help a bunch
I question the sanity of everybody on this road

94 IS REAL
if your dumb enough to drive in it your gonna pay the toll. Only once did I ever run in crap like that never again
Im from CT
EH!! You can't park there ;))
Turn your wipers off
😵😵
Today's high temp in Alberta, Canada 40F, sunny, and no snow. I love this climate change 🤣🤣
It's truly sad how many "professional" drivers have no clue how to drive on ice, including drivers who are in trucks plated SASKATCHEWAN... Pathetic.
