The 360CS is the one you really want, the 458 Speciale is the one you should really have. The 430 Scuderia is the best of both worlds and is the one you should really buy.
As a Scuderia and Speciale owner, I think this sums up almost perfectly the differences between them. I just need to add that CS, something I never did because of the gearbox and lack of power... Please do the same type of content for the GT3 RS lineage.
I’ve had my Strad for over 10 years and it still thrills like the first time I drove it; uncompromising, uncomfortable, antisocial, insanely loud and I love it. If you really want to I lease the sound, disconnect the valves, it’s unbelievable. No real interest in the newer models that are compromised by legislation to some degree. It sits alongside a 308 which offers a completely different driving experience. They’re 20 years apart and the progress in that time is remarkable.
@ThreesixtyM That's great , congrats, you don't need anything modern , faster or insanely expensive . My question is , how about maintenance? Most people I know will never buy a Ferrari due to the terrible/expensive dealers service, plus the car keep showing problems. I'd buy a F355 for sure,if it had less problems to keep it. That's why I do prefer Lamborghini, no hassle.
For me the judgement is, how fast do you want to go on a public road, other than bragging rights the Stradale is plenty fast enough. Absolute speed is largely irrelevant, the most important consideration for me is how it goes fast. I’ve never seen the gearbox as an issue, most of the reviewers haven’t spent enough time behind the wheel to learn how it functions. Yes, the changes are comparatively slow, but it’s part of what is a remarkable car. Incidentally, I’m not sure I’d agree with the low maintenance Lamborghini proposition ! I’ve found the Strad to be extremely reliable, but don’t forget that all these type of cars have the ability to throw a big bill. The question being, as an owner do you think it’s worth it. In my experience the answer is absolutely yes !
@ThreesixtyM I see , thx for sharing your thoughts and feedback. And Yes I agree with u ,plus the experience behind the wheel is much more important than final speed, 0 to 60 , or nurburgring lap time . Speaking about F1 transmission, you could swap to 6 speed manual. It's not expensive. And Yes,too many issues with Ferraris, it's something historically known. Lamborghini wouldn't be here if Enzo Ferrari was a nice guy with reliable cars. Still, after I have all Lamborghini models I want, CS and F355 are the next ones to buy, even if they don't run properly. I mean, It's really difficult to find some car in good shape.
I had the 458 Speciale and 430 Scuderia for over 2 years in my collection. I found myself pick up the keys of the 430 Scuderia everytime i wanted to enjoy a weekend drive, not the Speciale. The Scudaria i call it party on wheels and provides me with a proper Modern Classic Ferrari experience, the rawness, tranmission and noise just adds to the drama. The 458 Speciale is better in every way, but it just loses in terms of emotions compared to the Scudaria. If i can only have one sportscar in my Garage and it had to be a Ferrari, a 458 Speicale is the one i would pick, but if i had a stable of sportscars like i do, i would pick the 430 Scuderia every time. Now i kept the 430 Scuderia only along with my other sportscars and the Speciale is gone and believe it or not, I don’t miss the 458 Speciale.
I think the major take away from this is to do a Capristo exhaust on the scud and a novitec exhaust on the speciale so it'll be somewhat screaming like the CS...
I think the Scuderia is the best car for the money. More visceral, raw energy but not as “old” as the CS.. I thing the best V8 Ferrari has ever made. ❤
7:25 sums it up. And Chris Harris chose the Scud from this line up including the Pista. Scud gives you the supercar performance, but still retains some rawness.
Forgetting sound, gearboxes etc etc, for me the Speciale is just spectacularly good looking, it doesn’t have a bad angle, it’s a masterpiece and deserves to command the respect it’s given and therefore it’s price tag, I do agree tho, the others should be priced higher as they are 3 iconic cars
Brilliant videos chaps thanks a lot! I imported my CS 10years ago from Italy and it’s now done 85k km, my best mate and I bought a Speciale between us and have put over 10k miles in it in the last 3 years - we enjoy both on road trips across Europe and in Wales, you’ve summed them up perfectly…..thanks though now I think I need a Scud 😂
I have a Speciale and I drive it in Race mode, manual shifting with bumpy road mode on. It’s a mega experience every time I drive it. For the sound and more raw experience however, I have always wanted to add a CS to the collection and this video is a good reminder to resume my search. Thanks guys, great video.
I think the lower displacement of the Strad makes the engine noise at the top end of the revs higher pitched and therefore that little bit more special. A little side note on the gearbox of the Strad. If you drive at low revs just lift your foot off the gas pedal during the gear shift and the shift will be much smoother.
I actually manually converted my Stradale, and I do like it. The one thing that was nice, and I will always miss and knew I would miss about old F1 gearbox were the down shifts at high revs. That was always awesome. With that said, the simplicity of converting the car to manual by itself makes me very happy. It brings a different dynamic to owning and driving the car, and in a weird way, it makes the car feel more like a classic Ferrari. Which I wanted. Hard to explain, but that is how I feel and why I chose to convert my Stradale. Do want to add a Scud to the stable though if I can afford it and would absolutely keep that car F1.
Know exactly what you mean when you say it makes it feel like s classic Ferrari! With the gated manual and the clickty clack running through the box. It does change the personality of the car though and you do sacrifice those epic downshifts. Manual Strad and F1 Scud is quite the combo
I own a 458 and have owned a 430. Last year I saw my first Strad, in the same livery as is in the video. That Strad is absolutely beautiful in person. I'm not sure I'd give up my 458 for one, but only because the Strad is slow compared to a 458 so I'd miss the additional speed. The only negative of the 458 is its twitchy steering. Ferrari made it too light. Its so responsive that you really have to be a better driver to keep it in your lane at high speeds. I wish it could be dialed back down to the feel of the Scud's steering then it'd be perfect.
The 458 is the most beautiful of the 3 but for some reason I love the look of the 360 the best. I think to drive the 430 would be best. So I'd probably get the Scuderia in Grigio Alloy or Blu Tdf
Watched both episodes and I think all the comments are just spot on. The Scud 16m can provide the open top thrills of the Aperta for 1/2 the price, and the scud noise top down is unique and addictive. It should be noted too that an Aperta will cost north of £ 700k; the CS £ 200k and the Scud £ 180k ….. (a coupe Speciale £ 330k) and a Scud 16m £ 350k (only 499 in the world) … the Scud looks good value (relatively I know) in both guises !!!! Whichever you have, they are all Ferrari perfection
A very interesting video guys! 458s and 812s are my two favourite Ferrari models, but honestly any one of these 3 would be amazing to own (or any Ferrari to be honest) and that will remain a dream of mine!

In any case give me a manual swapped 360 CS and a 458 Speciale for the best of old and newer. I don't care much for an antiquated robotized manual. When the car is no longer on the bleeding edge trying to be as fast as possible, the case for having unrefined paddles goes out the window.
Has to be the Scud for Michael Schumacher’s role in its development. I’m shocked that was never mentioned in either video. Like folk talking about the NSX and not referencing Senna! Epic car those brutal gear changes, amazing F1 soundtrack and interior and exterior design. Also the F1 lights on the steering wheel! That was a first for Ferrari. The super slow gear changes in the Strad would be the deal breaker for me. Just spoils the car (and the interior which isn’t as nice). Ferrari we’re at the very top of their game with the scud.
I found the conversation regarding gearboxes interesting. I've heard people who driven manual converted Strads and Scuds say they are missing something. While DCT's are fantastic on a road car they are heavier and not really used in racing since the 80s with Porsche 962 and Audi S1. It was also the reason Porsche didn't use the PDK in the 997.2 GT3s. The PDKs were about 30kg heavier then and now about 20kg compared to a manual and as the cars get heavier the extra weight matters less for overall performance.
Well the 360 Challenge Stradale was such an impression on James that he named his UA-cam channel Stradman. But to me, the 458 will always be peak N/A Ferrari V8 and I love the looks as well. But honestly all are special in their own right and I'm glad they all exist!

Why is the Speciale the one on a pedestal? Just look at it! The first truly pretty Ferrari since the 355. I can't see the 360 without seeing the Crazy Frog, and IMO the 430 just isn't very pretty.
anyone else feel the volume was too low during the dialogue? had to crank the headphone volume to max :\ Maybe im just deaf from listening to the exhaust sounds in the first video on repeat for hours :D
@tiborkoppersable I mean Top 3 buddy. Enzo ,F12, TDF,Gallardo,Ford GT are ok,Not surreal sound. Pagani, they all look similar, it's ugly, plus it's sounds like a motorcycle.LFA is a just a Lexus so,not special. That being said,Carrera Gt is the only Porsche for not grandparents 😂 , and CS is the only Ferrari for not posers, because it's unexpensive and raw as a supercar , I mean, like a Lambo.
Nothing against either the 360CS or the Scuderia but put a Novitec exhaust on the Speciale and itll sound better than the CS. Personally id go Speciale everyday and twice on a Sunday. Best looking, best handling easiest to live with and the Pinnacle of the N/A V8 Ferrari bloodline..Its the dogs danglies... Forza Ferrari 👍👍👍
It would be interesting if someone who actually knew, I mean really knew, not just repeating the usual narrative, could inform me technically why the Speciale is that bit better than the standard 458. Its not much use saying the usual, its a combination of small things mantra as it doesn't make sense and in this particular shoot out, the extra half mill £ on the aperta makes anyone think about the italia as comparable. It can't be the aero - sduct, splitter, diffuser - almost nil until 200kph, weight - some people weigh 40kg more than others and others often have a passenger, wheels - unlikely, power - 30 bhp - again unlikely and people remap anyway. What is the main significant alteration.....steering weight perhaps, 10mm lower maybe, how about setup alignment - informed answers welcome.
It is all about suspension tuning and geometry setup that makes the difference. All the other small items. Increased downforce, lighter and more powerful work in conjunction with the new setup to allow for faster cornering and a more dynamic drive.
Ferrari finest? The one that you own fully, drive endlessly and enjoy life with on any road. Can be seen anytime of the year and only a garage queen when the weather is too bad.
Challenge stradale (Not as beautiful as F355) is the best, just because it's much more raw, louder, like a truly race car.The other models are faster, however not the same experience. They're more like something for collectors,to feel special, posers ,as most Ferrari owners .
On the subject of sound for me the best sounding cars of all time in no particular order would be: Mac F1 F50 355 with Capristo 05 Vanquish S NSX mk1 Stradale Zonda F
The 360CS is the one you really want, the 458 Speciale is the one you should really have. The 430 Scuderia is the best of both worlds and is the one you should really buy.
That’s so well said!

The holy trinity! And yes GT3 RS is in the works

Strad, Scud.. sure. But for the love of God, never refer to a Speciale as a "Spesh" ever again. 🤣
😅🤫
Second this. I also hear CS all the time and never Strad.
Since we're talking nomenclature
It's not a 360 CS ....... It's simply a CS
@@user-gl2eq2ly4gexactly! CS, Challenge Stradale, never 360xxx
Haha exactly. I had the same feeling. I thought “oh no, don’t do that”.
I had the 458 Speciale and 430 Scuderia for over 2 years in my collection. I found myself pick up the keys of the 430 Scuderia everytime i wanted to enjoy a weekend drive, not the Speciale. Definitely the Scud, as for those drone shots!!! 👌🏾🙌🏾
Good choice!
Ferrari just builds the greates cars! They make you feel special!
I think I'd take all 3 over any of the new Ferrari
Same
So reading between the lines, the scud is the best of the 3 by blending driving engagement and refinement
It’s all subjective of course! But yes

F430 was the always the sweet spot for me - was stunning compared to the jelly mould 360 when it came out
So true! It is
Thanks for a great video! My choice would be the Scuderia 16M. 360 stradale. Such a beauty, incredible noise too.
An absolutely fantastic two part episodes, gentlemen. So, how does one pick? Common sense it’s the 458 Speciale (Aperta or coupe). @ Happy New Year 🍻🥂🍾
I think the 360 CS and 430 Scuderia are closer to one another than they are to the 458 Speciale because I kind of see the 360 to the 430 similarly to the 996 Porsche to the 997. True!!
360 CS is the one!
Well the 360 Challenge Stradale was such an impression on James that he named his UA-cam channel Stradman. But to me, the 458 will always be peak N/A Ferrari V8 and I love the looks as well. But honestly all are special in their own right and I'm glad they all exist!
He named his UA-cam channel after his FerrariChat account name
The only two cars you need are a 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 and a 360CS.
The scud in yellow with silver stripes.
The strad feels so old compared to the other two.
And the speciale is only special when your on it.
Otherwise it drones at road legal speeds.
But these are track cars and it wins hands down. Even if its only a couple of times a year.

Fair enough! That’s pretty impressive
Wow.. exact word - rawness …so rare that i think probably left less than 7 in Singapore.. currently 2 in the market asking SGD$900k 😮
😮😮
I'm sorry .... Which car are you talking about here?
The CS challenge Stradale
Check it out guys..
@@360eric that's crazy
Guess I should keep mine 😁
360 CS 🥶
Looking forward to this!
Enjoy ☺️
Thanks a lot for these videos.!
Glad you like them! Our pleasure
430 for me but not a Scud, a standard manual coupe (not red!)
live a little lol
Ferrari finest?
The one that you own fully, drive endlessly and enjoy life with on any road.
Can be seen anytime of the year and only a garage queen when the weather is too bad.
Yesss
Left us with a cliff hanger. Eagerly awaited part 2
🎉 enjoy
@supercar.driver the verdict is bang on. A Speciale that sounds like a CS and shifts like a Scud
That's it..... 10 minutes is all I could endure ¿`_
Fair enough. A new format for us 👍
Id go with a Gallardo Performante
🙌
458 Speciale
Speciale Aperta.
All baby Ferraris..
Challenge stradale (Not as beautiful as F355) is the best, just because it's much more raw, louder, like a truly race car.The other models are faster, however not the same experience. They're more like something for collectors,to feel special, posers ,as most Ferrari owners .
Agree, F355 is just so beautiful and well proportioned! Strad is a sublime thing
All 3 are exceptional but it would have the be the 360CS, looks, noise and rarity
On the subject of sound for me the best sounding cars of all time in no particular order would be:
Mac F1
F50
355 with Capristo
05 Vanquish S
NSX mk1
Stradale
Zonda F
You stole my list!
Ahem *Lexus LFA and Porsche Carrera GT? Easily the best sounding cars in the world!?
Carrera GT
The 458 could do with a set of Novitec pipes 👍
Wild!
No Pista? 🤷♂️
It doesn’t really fit 😰
Thats a turbocharged modern ferrari
I'd take the 360 and manual swap it 😂
Nooooo
@supercar.driver come on, the satisfaction of a well executed downshift, accompanied by that cacophony surely can't be beaten! 😄
@@howarddavies136 I'd DCT swap it. Come at me! 😂
@@somerandomfella 🤣🤣 that's so right but so wrong.
CS for me,closely followed by the16M,great work lads, really enjoyed watching both of these,HNY
you can buy 10x challenge stradales with just one speciale aperta. Its a stupid contest.do better
I did think about a scuderia purchase, but went originally with F430 spider and then switched out to my current 488 spider. Still, do better
Dude your math is upside down
non dire idiozie
wow a yapping video lame
🤣
Yes you guys are fake as you've told Ferrari is a fake
Pardon?!
