Thank you for explaining and showing how simple it is to find a short on a motherboard by just using a multi meter and not having to have expensive equipment like a power supply station. I have learned so much from your channel. I appreciate how verbally well you explain issues and solutions. Keep up the good work and also for keeping things simple for us repair beginners.
Thanks. Help like in this video keeps my 1545 running great. Yes it is running the latest Windows 10. With memory upgrade,high-end CPU upgrade and Samsung SSD, it is many times faster than when it was new. .:)
Please do more of pc laptop component level repairs...you are one of the best out there...english based videos are as rare as hens teeth. Mostly in hindi or bangladeshi. There is only one that does it in english and although he is good..it looks too staged. Electronics repair school is another one who is good but he is very messy..nothing is done in a logical fashion. He tries but maybe its his language barrier or lack of interest in conveying the proper sequences in solving a board issue. He normally always fixes them but one is left wondering at times what he actually did. No one rules the PC laptop or desktop or apple IMAC ( this is so rare its simply not done..plz be the first) motherboard repair in ENGLISH as louis does with apple laptops so why not you be the master! There is a west indian called the chipmaster who is a genius in theory and practical but he wants you to pay a fortune for his videos...little does he realise that if he did it like louis rossmann he would make alot of youtube money. Paul Daniels is one more who is the creator of the boardview software also does a good job but its mainly macs and iphones. Yours is very natural and logical. You have come along way and am so glad you are doing these repairs at component level. Well done!!
This is the first vid of yours I've seen in ages Graham. I'm subscribed but this is the first vid that's popped in my notifications in bloody ages! Glad your still fighting the good fight mate. You seemed to have upped your game since the last I watched. Hope youre well mate
you prolly dont care but does anyone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any assistance you can offer me
@Franco Jalen Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im trying it out atm. Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
you're the man for this job mate.. my laptop went down today and I have been looking for a solution to fix it, I found this video and I hope I could fix it after all..
I sorry to hear of your disappointment with the DEL laptop which had Win 10 on it. Some of us may not be able to afford the latest tech so we have to make do and mend. Yes eventually we may have to progress to a more modern OS but don't be dismayed that there are less and less to be disappointed about. These day you have to be pretty financially endowed if you want to keep up with Tech or the Jones'
I believe that you missed your vocation in dentistry! When you're probing around the board, it always reminds me of my dentist doing the same with my teeth! Great video by the way!
thank you for your video it's awesome watching people who actually know what there're doing, now that being said i have an issue with my dell 1545 i know she's an old lady but she runs very well, i haven't used it with a battery for a while and i bought a new battery for it and it doesn't register i tested the battery with a meter and it's a good battery do you have any ideas on what could be the problem... Thank you.
That machine's a bit of a fossil for the time you repaired it. I wouldn't have though it would have been worth repairing. Oh well, you have to do as your told I suppose.
Hey, I was wondering if I were to bring in a Razer BlackWidow Elite for a key repair, would you be able to take a look and see if you could fix it? Thanks in advance.
Question on your component tester. Is that something you purchased straight away? Or is it something you built yourself? And where would I purchase one or the parts to make one?
My laptop power supply turns off when plugged in, when I unplug the charging port from the mobo and plug the PSU in it stays on which means there is a short on the mobo but I can't find it.
My sister has the same laptop. And if constandly stopping from working. Her battery was dead. But when we let the battery out of the laptop it is working when we push the battery back in. It stops working and won't chearching.
Hi, I have a problem....I opened my Dell i7 inspiron 15 5000 motherboard. I noticed that ISL88739HRZ-T battery charging IC is heating up(I found this by applying little flux over the IC). Even though I remove the charging IC the board should still power-up with the DC jack right?
When you say "theres are row of veers) the things that are marked G25-G32 that were by the positive lead of that shorted capacitor. what is their purpose. Just really curious
I like the videos. Good job troubleshooting. But really - USE some flux. The action of removal and installation happens better with flux. So you are adding degrees of difficulty to your work
For the most part, yes flux makes everything easier. But on a massive cap like this, really no hassle. The only trouble I had here was waiting for the soldering iron to warm up.
Beginner on work,no charge light !!!!.First thing you check is the 19V main rail B++ on curent sensor resistor or capacitors,if no voltage prezent in this case your problem is B++ rail short but if voltage present OK,then go to nex level check 3.3V always ON rail check the bios chip or power button if yow voltage not present here its your problem.

A job well done,,I am also a Technician but work mostly on Amplifiers,, compliments from the Caribbean South America ,,April 24th 2022,
That thermal paste job...oh dear.
Nice new thermal paste on old thermal paste hatchet job on the heatsink. Otherwise, nice repair.
Nice way to track the path.
Thank you, Like the video please keep it coming.
I un-subbed all the others , this is all I need. No phony thumbnails with posed expressions , just real diagnostic stuff.

Great video by the way!
I got one of those for £10 (Untested) and to my surprise it works great, also has minimal scratches.
"Oh my God it has windows 10 on it" I laughed really hard 😂

I have a dell 1525 which has an almost identical board. It's heavy duty in my opinion.
Mine same laptop got adaptor turn off problem when plug in today. I don't feel like buying new one after watching this!! Lol
Amazing most would have said bin it get a new laptop, but great fix 👍
What brand is that Digital Component Tester? Thanks
Generic Chinese kit, similar devices are widely available on eBay, Amazon, Banggood, Aliexpress. Search for 'transistor tester'!
Superb & helpful....you are great ....

The laptop is dell e5430

yes unless they share some power connection in series
18Min You mean in the time the Internet needs to warm up you could have looked it up on the soldering iron?
No new thermal paste?
Nice video TkQ
21:33 Fresh thermal paste and not cleaning the old one? Ouch
When you say "theres are row of veers) the things that are marked G25-G32 that were by the positive lead of that shorted capacitor. what is their purpose.

@@Adamant_IT awesome thanks!
This is reminds me of playing sudoku. There has to be a better way of finding shorted capacitors.
Blow them up. That will be a dead giveaway.
Thanks...🙏🙏
dell 1545 esa misma enchufo al prender funciona solo el cooler el ventilador y parpadea la luz de encendido pero no prende que puede ser
And around the cpu and gpu some capacitor is shorted!
15:53 it is not 22uF, it is 220uF cap. :)
So clever.
Good one

HOW I REMOVE BIOS MASTER PASWARD OF THIS DELL 1545
HOW TO REMOVE THIS MODELS BIOS PASSWARD. KINDLY TELL ME HERE
Contact Dell support. They'll ask you to prove ownership and give you a reset.
well done :o)
How much did it cost the customer to repair this laptop?
So if you had a spare motherboard nailed as decoration to your wall, why didn't you just put the spare board in? ;-)
The Wall Boards are all dead! But often good for spare bits :)
