I was in Yellowstone the Sunday before last. I saw a momma griz with 2 cubs in Lamar valley, a young black bear in Lamar valley and another young black bear in another site between Gardiner and Mammoth which was really surprising. It was great! We saw maybe 20 elk in total but we see at least 1500 bison in various areas. They were mostly in massive groups. I live about an hour from the park and every year there's idiot people that think bison are approachable. It's really hard to understand! They're the size of a mini van, weigh a ton, they're fast in bursts and wild! Nothing about them seems like something to try to get close to yet every year a handful of visitors wind up making an unplanned short flight courtesy of a buffalo! I'm glad she didn't die. I hope she makes a full recovery. I really hope she learned from her mistake too! Anyway, thanks for the info! Oh and yes, the rivers and creeks around here are absolutely insane! I saw a California Condor here, about an hour west of Las Vegas last year. It was WAY bigger than I imagined. It was enjoying a jackrabbit for lunch. I took a picture and turned around so I didn't disturb it.
In 2020 there were a lot of rock slides...and boulders had rolled and bounced onto roads. It was a mess...but I must say most interesting. The majority of bison incidents are not the bisons fault. People want to pet, get close and touch, tease and taunt, try and pet a baby, even get their little kids on their back for a good picture. The bulls are protective about their females...especially during August which is rut season. ( as with Elk )
Worked there a couple of seasons, and one of the first things in the safety brief is NOT to mess with the bison, and that if one starts charging you then get down and curl up because you are not outrunning it...it was explained their top speed isn't high compared to other animals, but their acceleration is such that by the time you turn around to run it is already ontop of you.

Thank you for the news. We were planning on being in the park in two weeks but had to cancel our trip due to high fuel prices. I guess our decision last week to cancel has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Yellowstone being closed would’ve really been a curveball for us!

This is nuts, we just got back from Yellowstone on Thursday, and it rained a little while we were out there, but the weather was pretty great for the most part.
I left yesterday from west yellowstone and drove thru the park to the south exit. Got to stop and see some sights. Light to heavy rains most the way. Totally didn't think all that was going to happen. So glad I got to see old faithful and enjoy my stay there. My very first time there also. It's so beautiful there. Sure hope the damage won't be to bad🙏
We were in Yellowstone from 5/27 - 6/1 The weather was cold and snowing every day. We noticed the decreased visitor numbers. Parking anywhere was no problem. What a difference a couple weeks make!!
here in the Everglades, we teach people that you stay 25 feet from alligatro, 15 feet from crocodiles. Some people just want to go sit on their backs and get a picture. That's a very good way to get hurt.
Signs all over in an around park,THIS IS NOT A YOGI BEAR PARK,I Know of several bars with raffle boards winner who guesses number of goring and attacks....tourists just ignore the warnings
I was always under the assumption crocodiles were more aggressive than alligators. Is that not the case? Having said that I had no issues from either one when I kayaked there. Floated right over some I could see submerged under me.
@@blakew5672 Alligators are more aggressive during mating season. Don't fall out the boat! Or dangle hands or feet. They can jump several feet out of the water. If YOU are in the Everglades in last few years, the anacondas and pythons have taken over! They even eat the gators!! You can probably look on UA-cam for a picture of one of the snakes with the belly ripped out, by a half digested gator. They both died. They even have an annual snake hunt, because they have killed off all the small game. Definatrly don't take your dog out!
@@tada6672 Gotcha. Yeah one of the kayak trips I had planned got canceled for something like that. Wasn’t a gator, but a croc had a nest on the Hells Bay kayak route so the rental place in Flamingo wouldn’t transport their kayaks there lmao. Ended up kayaking down the canals to the Joe river and camping on a chickee. Never saw any big snakes, but I’d imagine I was too close to coastal water for much of that. Definitely an awesome place, and it wasn’t bad even for July.
I have lived in Montana my entire life, 50yrs, and I have NEVER seen this happen, not like this. We have had swollen rivers and some flooding in the past, but nothing like this!!!! We have had many fires the last couple of years, again, never had seen it burn like this in all my years either...Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park are majestic and beautiful places to visit, and it is mind boggling to us that have grown up here to see the idiots that come here, who have been told and warned about staying away from the wildlife, keep thinking it is a good idea to try and get so close to them. There was a couple who picked up a baby buffalo out of a stream and put it in their vehicle because they thought it was left behind from its mother....what they didn't realize is they just gave it it's death sentence. The baby had to be euthanized because it couldn't be returned to the heard and it couldn't be moved anywhere else due to disease. People...LEAVE NATURE ALONE!!!!!!
I think it's from the snow we also got on Memorial day weekend. Over 10ft. of heavy wet snow on Beartooth. Most of Wyoming mountain ranges got alot of snow. Big Horn mountains are full of snow. Now we are having spring run off. Red Lodge Montana is totally flooded from Rock creek. The town looks like a roaring river.

The CCC was disbanded in 1942. I believe it will be awhile before the road gets repaired. I was in Yellowstone May 2021 and the road from Roosevelt to Canyon Village was closed for "construction." Visited again this year (May 2022) and the road still closed. It's really too bad Arizona and New Mexico can't have some of that rain.
Stay safe everyone, including everyone that works there…..if the park has too close then it has to close….even the animals will have to work things out with all the flooding..
I can’t believe this. We had reservations in 2020 and the park closed 4 weeks before we were set to leave. Now just 20 days it’s closed again. Maybe we’re just not meant to go there.

Informative and to the point. Thanks for for the continued updates.
You’re very welcome.
Thanks Jason!
Thank you for the news. We were planning on being in the park in two weeks but had to cancel our trip due to high fuel prices. I guess our decision last week to cancel has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Yellowstone being closed would’ve really been a curveball for us!
Excellent presentation, professional delivery. Thank you.
480 million acres.. but we're overpopulated. Let that sink in.
Praying for all of you affected by this historic rainfall. Flooding like fires is a devastating traumatic event to deal with especially if everything you’ve worked hard for is involved. Lived in Belgrade, visited Ennis, have friends in Missoula, worked in Bozeman. I love MT. I feel your 💔 please stay safe 🙏
My granddaughter and I went to Yellowstone in May. Weather was perfect. I’m sad for those who can’t see it. It’s so beautiful.
Very well done and enjoyable! Thank you!
I had heard about this but your video is the first I have seen of the damage. Thank you, my friend,
No problem 👍
Love your content and updates! Thank you for sharing 😊
This is nuts, we just got back from Yellowstone on Thursday, and it rained a little while we were out there, but the weather was pretty great for the most part.
Thanks for such a great report, nice photos,
Cashless does NOT serve the whole population. They know that.
I see another potential control move by an increasingly power-mad government.
Thank you for the news.
About time on the plastic ban !
Excellent once again! Thanks for the terrific info.
Wow everyone take care, God bless the lil animals
Omg, I was just there two weeks ago. This is horrible. I hope they can repair the damages soon.
Thank you for your informative videos!!
What a geat rundown of the current situation around the National Parks and hearing of successful release programmes of P falcons and condors. Thanks
Thanks for the updates ✌️
Very informative...
They forget , or don't realize how FAST a gator can go! And the can climb a fence! Esp. During mating season!

Gotcha.
We’re here in gardiner stuck. Everything has been ok.
Great video! You have by far the best audio quality of any UA-camr! Thanks.
Appreciate that! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Another great report!
Thank you!
Great news for Yellowstone! They need the water!
Good info delivered in a clear manner. I'm a fan.
Great update!!
Need to keep every road closed until engineers can determine what each road is built over.
Grew up in culbertson , graduated in from wlig point in in 75
Condors are awesome.
Crazy, I was on a trip there just a couple weeks ago, and there was no signs of such a flood. I even went fly fishing there.
Thank you 🙏🏽
I Enjoyed your very Informative Program, this was my first time. I Visited YS back in 1990. I fell In Love with this MAGNIFICENT LAND and it's AWE INSPIRING WILDLIFE. I Pray that YS will be able to Fully Recover.
Thank you.
love to see many species return, and hope the Yellowstone situation gets better.
Keep up the good work of informing all. What is going on thank you
You’re very welcome.
Just happened on your channel… thanks for the great news information. This is great information.
Thanks for the update 👍
Greati info. Thanks
Thanks for the info.
I just heard about the park closing, very sad.a lot of people will be upset.it may be along time til its repaired.does the c.c.c. still do this kind of work? Please keep us updated on that tragic story.i love all your reports and have followed you for some time.thanks for all you do
I doubt if the NPS has paving crews anymore. They will probably hire a company to stabilize the roads and the rest will go out for bid.
@@TheBandit7613 sad
The CCC was disbanded in 1942. I believe it will be awhile before the road gets repaired. I was in Yellowstone May 2021 and the road from Roosevelt to Canyon Village was closed for "construction." Visited again this year (May 2022) and the road still closed. It's really too bad Arizona and New Mexico can't have some of that rain.
@@MikeNaples sadly, yes.but wouldnt it be nice to create those jobs again?
Stay safe everyone, including everyone that works there…..if the park has too close then it has to close….even the animals will have to work things out with all the flooding..
I can’t believe this. We had reservations in 2020 and the park closed 4 weeks before we were set to leave. Now just 20 days it’s closed again. Maybe we’re just not meant to go there.
Keep trying. It’s worth the wait and rescheduling hassles. Try to go on a non-holiday weekend, and outside of the summer rush if you can. Happy trails!
Did you pay for the reservation and did you get your money returned?
@@Damethefirst I was camping, long ago. I did not have or need reservations.
@@Damethefirst we’re still going since we’ve already reserved a cabin near the Tetons and rented a big van for our family. We’ve already spent $8000 so not going to cancel.
That sucks. We got lucky going last year.
Thanks for the Information 👍
The National Park Services website confirms this!
Drove through Yellowstone in 1969 - it was bumper to bumper for miles. All I saw was people and cars. Never got to see much beyond that. A real shame.
Still that way
I live 20 miles from Casper, in Jackson hole it's faster to walk
Thank you for sharing your Channel update God bless you Brother
Excellant Photography....I've been to all those places when water was normal summer levels. Thanks for sharing
Red Lodge Mt. is under water!
💚Thank You!
We have a Peregrine that nests in the cell tower outside my 6th floor office.
It is really awesome to watch it hunt pigeons :)
Going "cashless" is the first step on ALL visitors being banned from national parks, except a tiny very privileged few.
I recently found your channel and I just wanted to give you a big thank you. You're dong a very professional level news report and I enjoy the content. Thanks and stay safe! BTW, I like when you do the odd/funny stories to cap/end a video.
I'm excited three babies and all made it . totally awesome work parks....lots love 💕💓💓
Good,Yellowstone has been in drought conditions for years and now that precipitation is picking up,close it for the rest of the year and let Mother Nature do her thing.
Possible under ground bases being flooded out??
Thanks!
That's very kind of you, thanks!
We just left Yellowstone on the 9th and the Yellowstone River was already high then. Stayed at Yellowstone’s Edge RV park. Nice little well kept park.
Thank you Jason for this information on Yellowstone being closed do to flooding and roads and an avalanche. Glad that woman survived the bisson attack. Thank you again for this information. I saw Abby in one of the pictures. Tell her I said hello.
What a shame Yellowstone is indefinitely close. We went through Yellowstone in mid May and had a lovely time.
Indefinite?
I was just making plans to go there later this summer. Glad I saw this
Yellowstone can use a break from the tourists. It’s insane how many people are there when you go. It’s like a crowded airport
Unfortunately, for the last three days master, and visa cards have been hacked and seems to be a growing problem maybe the parks should reconsider cash.
A cashless society is not good for anyone. The more the govt can control the less freedom we have. Look at what happened in Canada.
@@joandonnelly7206 hell yup. I'm in Canada and figure that any business that doesn't want cash doesn't want my money. I really hope the national parks up here don't go cashless. I'd rather sneak in to go camping then get a credit card again.
Cards can be hacked anywhere.
Friends visited and departed from Yellowstone just the day before the flood. So glad they left when they did. 😥
Glad they made it out safely.
Is there a published map that will be updated with roads open and closed? Looks like some will be closed for a looooong time.
Just found this channel and subscribed, James! Great roundup of news and current happenings that would be hard for me to find all of this out on my own! Thanks!
Welcome!
89 north from Gardiner is shut down. Many bridges have been damaged, water is over the roadway in many places. East river road is also under water in several places and I’m sure have been washed out as well. Yellowstone looks like the Mississippi right now.
Heard pine creek is doing good as well as mill creek
Good to hear birds are making come back.
We are in West Yellowstone and we’re planning to go through the park to get to Cody. Hopefully it will open up by Friday. We had hopes that the traffic wouldn’t be too bad based on the Memorial Weekend numbers but when we were there on June 10 the traffic was horrible at the west entrance
Don’t bet on it. They closed it down to record flooding. Lots of rock and mud slides. Lot of roads, bridges have been washed out.
@@shanebrown2963 Crossing fingers so we don’t have to trace an extra 150 miles at the current fuel prices but definitely not holding my breath
Back to Grand Teton N.P. and Jackson and get out the maps and figure another route to Cody...You wont be going thru Yellowstone...look like rt 26 and 120 new route longer, 177 miles but...gets you to Cody...if no rivers in that vicinity of the new route otherwise no Cody...that route you were going to take, the Eastern entrance/exit gorgeous scenic route especially the Bill Cody scenic byway part..
@@joemanpjg Hi Joe, thank you, I’m already on it but will head north. Jackson is such a cute town but way too congested. It’s about 150 miles longer than going straight but I think you are correct we won’t be going through the park. Hope you are having fun
Enjoy the Ride
@@BellsRidesAboardSeaBoss enjoy your trip...
Peace in Yellowstone
cashless is a move to remove legal tender from system... no way I will go along
