I don't understand how there are people who dislike this. This kind of TV series are full of everything we, human beings, need to learn for living our lives with love and friendship. This is the real meaning of life.

I turned off my TV almost 4 yrs ago. I dont miss it or the big cable bill either. If i want to watch news i get online or read the paper to keep up with the world and local events .theres just junk programming on TV and a huge waste of time anyway.

The Scotty Wilson character was played by Jim Troesh (1956-2011). Troesh was an actor, screenwriter and entertainment industry disability advocate. He was paralyzed at the age of 14 following an accident in the family home, rendering him quadriplegic for the rest of his life - one of very few quadriplegic actors to be successful in the entertainment industry and the first quadriplegic actor to ever join the Screen Actors Guild.
Another typical end to a Highway to Heaven episode -- there are tears in my eyes. I feel sorry for those who don't see the beauty in the show or its warmth and compassion.
The eps with Scotty were the best. Guy has the beat sense of humor. Those episodes are my family's favorite.
Its called unconditional love. That is the most important thing.

These story lines are probably old as the hills...but I'd never seen even 1 episode before seeing them here on youtube. And... darn near every show makes me cry at some point. I just can't seem to get enough.....thank you!

Every episode means a great deal to me, both my parents are gone but it brings back those days of watching this-great n wonderful show with my parents !
This show will always mean something to me. I love the message of "excepting others" and" believe in yourself "and have faith that it displays. I have the complete series on DVD and I still enjoy watching it!

Ip's wonderful when you really truly honestly do find someone to care about,to fall in love with . If they have a handicap it really truly honestly shouldn't matter to you as long as you still love that person .
From the first time I saw Scottie's face I liked him , his face , his voice , him and his wife are really a great match , it's been a long time coming with those wheelchair carrier vehicle , now it's just more sophisticated 🥰🥰🥰♥️♥️
James Troesh was 27 when he appeared in this episode. He died at the age of 54 on October 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA. He became a quadriplegic falling off a roof at the age of 14. RIP James 😢

They were each 55 years old when they died. That's really weird.
I was watching a documentary on Micheal Landon a while back. Strangely a total of 5 actors from the cast of Little House on the Prairie died of certain cancers. They think it possibly had something to do with some kind of nuclear site not far from the setting of the show. Coincidence maybe but bizarre
@@TxAmber78 They were different types of cancers so the set may not be the culprit as it was in John Wayne's "The Conquerer" where they filmed on a radioactive site (where nuclear testing had taken place) and then they took sand (radioactive!) back to the studio so those scenes would be the same. (91 of 220 crew members developed cancer though the numbers do not include the Native American Paiute

He ran a workshop for disabled actors because he didn't like how the disabled on TV and the movies were played by body-abled actors. I miss James.
Highway to Heaven is definitely the best, most inspirational, uplifting, thought-provoking series ever! Each episode contains such important life lessons. There is nothing like it today. So much that passes for 'entertainment these days is absolute trash!

They wouldn't stand a chance to survive airing an entire single season. If you read about why some good shows got cancelled you'd be surprised no matter how many devoted viewers were out there.

It takes more than 10 million viewers to stand solid ground.. any lower than 5 million shows would soon get the axe no matter the number of seasons. TV companies take these matters seriously in order to maintain good entertainment otherwise companies would soon experience bankruptcy. Now you probably know how critical it is when an artist should decide springing off a show. 😬 It could bring a show to 🤪 death by a sharp decline of ratings like many feared CSI Miami would drop out after Speed (Rory Cochrane) left the show around 3rd season.
Speaking of good shows.. do you remember Danger Bay ('85 - '90)? It was a canadian production. Loved the idea of the show.. and so did Missing, Ashley Judds whose show survived for 10 episodes ONLY!!! 🤯 Both shows experienced cancellation.. also, Judging Amy, Cold Case...etc... All happened to have been once-upon-a-time great shows. 🤷♀️

What a good episode along with the two about the kid who lost their legs.
This episode was based on the story of James Troesh's relationship with his own wife.
I wondered that when I see he starred in it and they wrote it.

Out of all the Episodes of Highway to heaven, I definitely remember this one.
Although Michael Landon's Jonathan Smith character is my hero, I realize I can never be angelic like him - at least not overnight. I have to embrace all my imperfections and become ME.

Is the internet a good or a bad thing? Well, given the level of vitriolic opportunities presented by it, & acted out by so many, it would suggest bad; however, on the basis of being presented with a series like this, which I remember (but, thankfully, not in detail & so it's like watching anew), & not possessing a TV (which, actually, is good news), online must be a good invention for which I & many others must thank God. Amen 🙏. RIP ML & VF, unless, that is, they're Angels in our midst, & I certainly hope so.

I forgot that James Troesh was is several episodes. I am so sad to have just learned that he also passed away. Victor French died a few months after the show was canceled---from lung cancer, which was a reoccurring joke in the show. And I remember very clearly when Michael was dying and how cold the media was to him and him being on one of the late-night shows. Maybe Carson?

Jonathan did not die while being Scotty's friend - he became Scotty's friend while an angel. Jonathan's human form died decades before - one of the shows show him with his wife, her elderly and him in his current form.

This sweet couple were in another few episodes, one of which dealt with a young boy whose parents thought he needed to be institionalized. I think it's called "A Special Love" or something. Look for a pre-teen Paul Walker.
I liked this episode but be wary of jumping into a marriage quickly. It's wise to get to know a man or woman before you ask them to marry you. You could end up marrying a person that will make your life hell. I think six months to a year is a good amount of time to get to know someone and please use fasting, and prayer and ask God if it is right before you do marry.
There are many, many things that need to be discussed before marriage regardless of how much in love we are. Those things include where you will live, who works, who handles money, how many children you plan to have, the list is endless. You need to know if you are on the same "wavelength" for those basic things.
The most important of all is to be best friends and to trust and respect each other. Without those three things, it just cannot last - it's a tough world out there. True friendship, trust, and respect - with those three things, you can make it through anything.

Diane says that Scotty is a paraplegic, not a quadriplegic. The difference is that a paraplegic, can't use his lower limbs, while a quadriplegic's upper and lower limbs are affected.
I totally agree. It is definitely called unconditional love. I have a boyfriend who is like that and I love him very much. I wish we could get married but if we do we get penalized i’ve been trying to fight this for a very long time. And to me it’s totally unfair the way people with disabilities are treated when it comes to marriage.. Innoway I feel we are being discriminated against.

@@tabandken8562 A couple of things going to play. I live in the state of Rhode Island. They told us that we could get married but a couple of things could happen. One if I did get married to my boyfriend I found out from a relative of mine that. We would have to pay more taxes. Which I didn’t know second of all we would only get one check from the state. And it would be less if the if we got married to me that’s wrong. The sad part is the state of Rhode Island doesn’t recognize us as human beings. They treat us like numbers and letters. It’s almost as if we don’t exist.
