- Hello my Lovely Viewers,
Today I'm showing a few adaptations I made to Black Snail Patterns 0219 to make it a little more practical for wearing in modern life and with modern undergarments.
Materials: 3 yards of medium-weight linen, 2 yards of velvet ribbon, 3 yards of 1-inch cotton tape, and 1 yard of 1/4-inch cotton tape, cotton thread (a lot)

Looks so nice and cozy, and the adjustable front makes it perfect for changing bodies! 💗
I really feel that for a wardrobe to really be a lasting, sustainable thing, it has to be at least somewhat adaptive. Many of us even experience some mild body changes from week to week because of hormonal cycles!
Very nice comfy dress
It's definitely an easy style that's very nice to wear every day!
Love this dress! Have been wanting to make this style of dress for at home wear. You make it look uncomplicated. Will try making my own pattern and with some stash fabric first. 🌟
It would be fairly simple to pattern or piece together from other patterns if you've done some regency-ish looks before. I'm sure it will turn out great!
You did all this by hand?? 😯wow! Ur a pro!
Haha, not quite! I used a machine for some of the seams to save my hands. Before I had my machine I did evening by hand, but it does increase your risk for carpal tunnel, so I use a mix of machine and hand sewing for most of my projects.
I do not have the time, space or patience to start a new hobby but damn if I don't want to make my own clothes 😅 this is so nice, I love it
I get it... When I first started learning we were living in a tiny apartment and I only had a small desk to work at and no machine.
It's possible to start learning, but I won't say my initial projects were great. They were necessary though, haha.
Maybe someday you can go for it~
Love that colour on you. Makes much more sense to have the front closed. Happy Holidays and take care.
Thank you Nancy, be well!
Lovely! I like the idea of using that shape of a bodice for a modern dress.
I love adaptive clothing and things that look nice, but are really easy to be mobile in!
So pleased to make your acquaintaince Miss Denby, I have two Regency dresses and two bonnets, if, as I hope Reincarnation is real, I'd love to go back to this glorious time as it may not have been great in terms of womens' rights but oh my the clothing !!
Thank you for tuning in.
I say enjoy the best of both worlds and dress in the lovely clothing now!
So pretty!
perfect !
This is lovely. Think I may try it 😊
I hope you do! Please tag me if you post photos, I would love to see it.
You are very talented! I would love to know how to alter my patterns and let the garments look decent on me.
Thank you... I've been learning a lot the past few years. If you are looking for some guidance on making fit adjustments on patterns, I recommend the book "Ahead of the Curve" it covers for adjustments all over the body. It's particularly helpful if you have a curvy shape and find that your hip/waist/bust/bicep are often spread out among different sizes on a chart
such lovely details! beautifully crafted. thank you for sharing 🧵💙
Aw, thank you! I know it will be getting a lot of wear in my wardrobe!
Your dress is just lovely!
