It's not about choice. It's just about she or any other people in her faternity didn't care. She went away with a person willingly even after knowing that he killed many innocent lives. Only when she got severely abused, she realised he is bad. Same with many Bollywood actors who shared good relationship with Dawood Ibrahim. They very well know what he does still they didn't care.
