Son of a seaman and nature-lover, as a child Nacho Dean grew up reading Jules Verne and watching the documentaries of Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente. From them he learned his passion for exploration and his vision of the world as a whole. "Nature is where we belong, what we do to it we do to ourselves," he reflects.
This naturalist, professional explorer and popularizer was the first person in history to go around the world on foot and alone, completing a total of 31 countries and 33,000 kilometers in three years: “My goal was not to make a break in my life, but to hug it more intensely than ever ”, he assures. Years later another challenge was proposed: to link swimming the five continents with the aim of launching a message of conservation of the oceans. A milestone that he completed in the so-called ‘Nemo Expedition’: “The sea is the great forgotten, garbage has been found where not even sunlight reaches”, he warns. His expeditions have helped him make visible the degradation of the planet and emphasize our responsibility in the face of climate change.
