The most important and unique part of this video is a man being able to do the thing's he loves to do, and have his children around him at the same time. I salute you Sir for spending quality time with your children👍👍👍👍
I seen this done when I was a kid and I do have a wiper motor I'm going to use for mine I'm using the videos as research to make mine for engine removal so I need to make sure mine is going to be able to handle that just can't afford to waste materials on something that's not going to work properly
Power window motors can be made into many things. I know that inside the turning hub however is a rubber cog. I believe that the rubber is there to keep the motor from over torque and breaking the safety glass. The homemade winch should not be expected to lift or pull too much of a load because the inner cog will strip and cause the winch hub to freewheel.
I grew up in my Dad's welding shop. Yes, I touched a hot surface after my dad finished welding - ONCE . Yes, I got flash burns - ONCE . Yes, I cut my finger on some sharp metal -ONCE . It didn't kill me, and I sure as hell have respected those dangerous things all of my life. And because I grew up in a shop, I can fix anything, and I don't have to depend on someone else. I really appreciate this young man allowing his kids to learn from a small age how to work in a shop.
Ditto the above...HOWEVER, I saw in just these few moments of video, serious unnecessary risk to the toddler. Most serious was the exposure to arc energy/light. This can very suddenly have permanent effects on vision. Less but considerable was the exposure to metal grindings to the eyes...especially since he's low and in the fall path AND they are always super curious and observant. I'm not a tree hugger or child overprotectionist...only the victim of eye injury. Otherwise, a nice job / project and you left me curious for the next...cheers.
From my experience with window motors doesn't matter GM, FORD. Etc. Them plastic balls that bust. If you clean them up and replace the balls with nuts that fit a 7/16 head. You'll never have that problem again. Some will take a 10 mm nut head. Try it and see.
Yes indeed I will honestly say I will like to see this one I don't think it will lift much if it will lift at all with out stressing the thing to burning up It is interesting none the less and if the experiment is a super tool we owe you And I will be in my shop trying to do what you did hope not to be crushed in production Of a nifty gadget that may have potential new mighty big question as far as the motor an the power of it however much weight will it lift and maybe a shall pully system to aid machanical advantage an idea of course Thank you for yours
Thanks! For this to work over longer time it need bearings on the wire-drum part. I have had mine running for the TV now for almost 1 year now and it still works like a charm. I did break the wire used once due to the drum wasnt good enough and it frankly just got cought and the motor itself didnt stop but pulled it apart. That wire used is capable of well above 50kg of lifting and it snapped :)
looks like a good outcome. have you tested how much weight it can lift upright or maybe pull sideways something like that. or if you have an idea about can you share your experience?
Dunno but depending on the size of the winch axel you could probably lift 30-40Kg or even more. its just a wild guess but they are damn strong for being that small
Hi I opened this window motor assembly for a different purpose and am unable to get it shut back together. Do you have any tips? I got the wormwheel inside and even if i try spinning the wheel the axle does not go completely in to allow me to screw on the torque screws.
Thanks your right. The metal bush at the bottom had shifted in place. So I used the head of the axle to straighten and align, then reversed and put it back in. Thank you again.
It is cool. What worries me is that you did welding, grinding and drilling with your baby son standing right next to you. That is not smart, you could burn his eyes, or he could get a metal fragment in his eyes. Please be more careful
Will keep this tip in mind if I would want to make a winch to pick up my car keys off the floor. Would a car window motor have enough torque to pull a 3,000 boat unto its trailer.? Guess you don't know until your try, or is it that you don't try until you know? A good car window motor will stop if it feels one of your kids hand or head sticking out of the window.
A car windows motor will easily pick out a boat if you gear it properly. The motor itself is not what stops when pulling up the window on a modern car. Its a current monitor that does. The above motor is dead freaky strong in the gear ratio it have and easily lift 100+ kg as that was built :) I use this style for many different things like carports and other...
whats wrong with you snowflakes? just because you're not used seeing things in real life. because "oh, that doesn't look safe, better moan". You and your kind are the reason there are instructions on shampoo bottles. i bet you wear safety underpants and buy every insurance available. Metalworkers know whats dangerous. you can bet he knows a lot more in real life about what is dangerous, whats risky and whats ok than you ever will.
There's a video where guy set up smaller pannels controling opposite motors so each time the sun stuck the smaller pannel, the motor would move the main array into direct sunlight thus giving shade to the side pannel
The motor in this video is a bit slow for a bike as such unless its a kids bike. You just attach a sprocket and run it on the wheel is one way. Or drive by rubber wheel attach on top of the wheel.
I am thinking, this would be a great little motor to make a small car for my little kid, instead of spending $350 for one of thise cheap plastic cars from Wal-Mart
2 of the will do the work just fine. Heck 1 will work as long as its a small car and young kid. Mine here are to big now so even the 250w atv is to small now :)
No, my workshop area is not prohibited for my kids. And touching the welding wire is not dangerous. Not for me not for my kids since they are shielded and wont give out any shock. He only chewed on a alu rod. Its not more dangerous than chewing on a pencil or anything else inside the house or what they have on the daycare... ;)
Thats actually true and i did not notice him comming that close and did not see it untill editing the video. He generally stays in background far behind :) If i would have seen him that close i would have moved him. Sparks from welding or grinding can destroy eyes in seconds!
hey its good to let your kids be around you when you do things like this they wil learn skils I was with my dad all the time when he was in his work shop he told me not to touch hot things and do not look in the welder. i did once and learned why i could not look in the weld.:Skids wil learn from their dads its good
Is sparks the ONLY reason that you wear welding glass? I don't weld, but I don't watch welding either. I hear that it can be blinding. Consider yourself scolded and prohibit kids when necessary!
I just told him the same thing. He doesn't realize that welding in front of his son like that could burn his sons eyes, and drilling his son could get metal fragments in his eyes
Its unforgivable, he wouldn't stand there without a mask on watching someone else weld but hey, fuck the kids eyes. Kids and animals know no better, my youngest is 11 and old enough now to know how dangerous it is but I find and lock all my cats in a room before welding anything because they hang around when ever I'm doing anything outside and they need to be protected.
I saw you welding and using a welding mask, but the baby is watching you and his does not have a welding mask on. You should take good care of your child, before you make UA-cam videos.

Yah so what if he has blinded his kid from the welding arc. You people are morons for supporting this!!!!!!!!!!

You can use it to adjust the angle of the solar panels. raise roman blind shades, shading a window or wall
How much amps needed? And what weight can he carry?
Wow nice

ok...you can start fix your life now.
The childs eyes are also at risk here from both welding flash burn and metal swarf from drilling and grinding.. he should be more cautious.

Impressive. Have you tested how much weight it will pull?
Tengo dos levanta cristales y no sabía que inventar con ellos exelente idea 👍👍👍😀😀😀
Is it reversible? How do you pay out the line?
This is a great idea! What is that welder tool you're using? I've not seen something like that before. Thank you.
Mig welder and i have tig welder

What kind of welder is that? It looks like it does a better job than my 30 year old Miller stick welder.
Migatronic clone 300A. Does evertything thrown at it. All from 0.7mm to 40mm :).
nice work my friend but look out for nice baby play around you

The Mig? Basically a migatronic 300. Rather cheap machine but it have worked great. And thanks!
I used an old window regulator I had, but no matter how much I put the voltage to it nothing happened, so I just cranked that little handle.

I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one who doesn't have a drill press lol. Although I think my wife ordered me one for Christmas😁😜
Peter Fitzwell you wish mate!!
Very nice. How do you wire the up/down switch?
A DPDT switch will reverse the polarity of the voltage supply (battery).
Will a window winder have the torque you need for winching?
For this purpose yes it had. It was more than strong enough :D
Nice job. Nice to hear a video with out an American growled vals...... getting on my nerves. You accent is very refreshing. Keep going haha
David Farmer thanks m8. Swedish English strange accent :)
Different, yes. Defo not unpleasant.
How much will it pull upwards in Kg?
I wonder too
@@sulimandc3467 i suppose not more than 1 kg .

Dont know m8. it sounds like there is a bushing or something in the way

Forgive me ignorance, what type of welding machine did you use in the welding. Good job.
Chibuzo tig :)
Really nice. :)

Gate motor is what im doing I’ve been thinking about it for a while

good work !... question, what kind of welding gun you have can you share the model? Thanks!
Im using Stahlwerk 200A DC/AC Puls Tig and a Migatronic 300A MIG.
What are you going to use this for?
Check the follow up video
How can i make one that will freewheel back for use in a catapult?
Need a clutch of some kind
Use a bicycle sprocket or a car starter bendix they are a kind of Mechanical diodes (one way turn)
What kind of welder are you using?
NorCal tig and mig
Whats that tool u used to weld together
Tig and mig welders is what i use
Are you serious
I heard the window motor needs a regulator or it could burn out. I don;t know what this means. Can someone please explain? THX!
The regulator gears the motor down
thanks..good idea.
How much can it lift?
I would Guess Up towards 100kg as is. But dont know how Long it last of you pressure it like that
What battery type does it use?
Any battery that delivers 12V or around
Tork test plz
Do you know if I can find any small motor (half size of this on video), but it can lift at least 200kg?
Good work .*_*
Lovely boy!
Dobre na zahodenie .
Lo mejor del video, fue el ayudante, la música muy fuerte
