This movie is the new benchmark for cinematography and effects. It just looks breathtaking in every scene and the cgi is simply amazing. Every set and background looks real even though it can't be. The level of detail and thought that went into this is absurd. Easily a 10/10 movie for me.

    • @gamiensrule

It has lot better actors, effects, director .. story not so much .. and they are many similarities in general conception. Both are movies mainly for fans .. yeah, Gits kinda flopped even at that .. but they both rely on fan service heavily.
I hoped BR2049 will do what Aliens did to Alien .. and it didn't. It recycles way too much. Aliens don't have single scene recalling Alien. This has dozens, same as Gits. It throws me off, it breaks immersion. The scene with Rachel right out break 4th wall ! Which wasn't even all that bad, but it was so different than the rest of the movie. First BR is very compact .. simple story .. which makes you think. This is kinda over-combined. Too many ideas, no substance.

  • @SamuraiMujuru

I've reached a point where I think 2049 is a better movie. Not necessarily experience, but definitely a better movie. The investigations are exactly that, K investigating, following threads, hitting dead ends, picking up new threads, unraveling the mystery. Set it in the 50s, cast Bogart, still get a great film.
The first Blade Runner is arguably a better experience. When it came out it was crazy, visionary, and prophetic. Now you look at it and see where the past almost 30 years of sci fi came from. But it's overall narrative is much weaker.

At World’s End is actually longer than this by a few minutes. The Lord of the Rings extended editions are over 4 hours each. This movie doesn’t quite hit the 3 hour mark.

I really liked how slow and deliberate the movie is. As good as Blade Runner is, it's also scenery porn, and 2049 carried on the tradition and took us places, lingered on things, and showed off cool stuff that it didn't necessarily need to just because the visual element is so important.

My best friend convinced me to the movie the hour before showtime even though I never saw the original but he sent me a explanation video on all cuts of the movie and when I came out of the theater I was a blade runner fan. I honestly thought the movie was perfect, however I do feel like since having not seen the original some of the concepts and interpretations were fresh and exciting for me.

I personally really didn’t like the first one. I get it’s influence on sci fi but I didn’t like the pacing at all, there wasn’t a lot of action and most of it was underwhelming, and I wasn’t super invested in the plot. HOWEVER. I did really like 2049. I think the pacing was much better despite the run time and it was very entertaining as well as immersive. Go see it even if you don’t like the original.

Screen Crawler I didn't hate the original I just grew up watching all of its spiritual successors and imitations (i.e. The Matrix) so when I got around to blade runner, I thought it wasn't very deep. I can appreciate it's originality but it hasn't aged well. 2049 was masterfully done and way more thematic than I expected.

I thought BR2049 was an absolutely amazing movie. Everything about it was spot on if you are a fan of the original. The visuals, sound, and story were all spectacular. It was paced like the first movie, but it also had more to it, hence the long running time. The people behind this film clearly weren't motivated by what was going to generate the most profit, and instead were highly focused on creating something truly unique and immensely creative. It's unfortunate it was an apparent box office flop, but I believe Blade Runner 2049 will be remembered for a great many years, while other so called box office smash hits we see every year will fade into obscurity over time. I went to see BR2049 in theaters twice and have already per-ordered it on Blu Ray.

    I love K’s/Joe’s arc!
K/Joe didn’t want to be just “another replicant”, he wanted to be something more, so it was devastating to see him learn he wasn’t the child of Rick. But reflecting on the events that happened throughout the movie, Joe did the most human thing to do, and saved Rick to help him reunite with his child. At the conclusion of the movie, Joe ended up becoming a lot more than just “another replicant”. Despite being a replicant, Joe proved he was more human than a lot of humans, and that’s why I love his arc and his character. It’s just so deep and poetic :)

Chris Stuckmann is as pretentious and snobby as they come. Sounds like a YOU problem when you are disappointed by a reviewer not giving your precious movie his highest rating, it's like you are not watching him for his opinions, but confirmation bias, he's not here to please YOU and you are not doing any favour for him. You prefer Chris? Good for you but his boring reviews put me to sleep, then again he also has a boring personality but I prefer Jeremy Jahns for his enthusiastic and energetic reviews, all about positive vibes and if you have to criticise Jeremy to praise Chris, then maybe Chris isn't that good at first place.

I'm new to this channel. 3rd video I've seen. I'm surprised he didn't mention the gorgeous cinematography, and the amazing audio/sound design. The latter can be forgiven. Maybe he watched it in a supar theater (audio-wise). Or maybe his reviews are purely based on storyline and that's it. I hope this is not the case. I'll watch more vids to find out. Last note, if you have a 4k player with a big tv or projector and a proper Dolby Atmos with subwoofers setup (not a soundbar no matter how "good"), this movie is outstanding! You are transported into the world. It has to be an example of how great movies can look & sound on a 4k disc. It's truly amazing.

It sucks when Alien and Terminator are sucking today but not Blade Runner.

    • @GiorgiNemsitsveridze

I think that's mostly because Alien and Terminator were not better than original Blade Runner in the first place - none of their stories would match the Blade Runner (1982) story, therefore 2049 was shot only after a worthy script.

So is this movie about blades running in the year 2049?

    • @experiment54
      @experiment54 6 років тому +2

No. Its the 2048th movie in the series of blade runners. You should watch all 2048 to understand Bladerunner 2049. If you dont you will be lost.

I loved this movie. I’m a big fan of the original too. Gosling gave one of his best performances to date. Great story, cool atmosphere, the replicant action was swift and brutal, solid acting, gorgeous cinematography......Kickass movie. Got it on Blu-Ray when it came out and I still watch it every now and then.

I have not watch the original bladerunner but I've watched and love many movies and anime that was inspired by the original and I freaking love this new bladerunner. I think I'm gonna watch the original one

I honestly didn't mind this being nearly 3 hours at all because I loves every frame so the more time in this universe the better especially as we most likely won't get another one..

The fuck dude? Listening to your explanation of the plot in the first 60 seconds, did you even watch the movie man? That's almost completely wrong, only things you got right was that the older models are illegal and cops who hunt replicants are called blade runners

I was not the biggest fan of the first movie. Was not sure why it was as big a deal as most people made it out to be. But when I came out of this one, I found myself liking this one a lot more. Maybe I will learn to appreciate the first one more over time, but I do want to watch this one again.

To all those who think that blade runner 2049 sucked and was a pile of shit.. well all the more power to you. I have not watched it yet but many of the complaints people have about this remind me of the original blade runner and I'm just going to have to say that this movie probably wasn't really meant to appeal to everyone. The old one went with a very particular theme which is why (apart from the theatrical release) it took a long time to be praised. It has boring scenes but most of them actually were very important points in the movie and I can tell from watching the original one twice that seeing all the clues that Deckard would find but not have the movie emphasise them was why I was so laser focused to the screen. I understand that a lot of people didn't like this movie but you don't need to be so obnoxious about it. Some people are really happy that studios actually took a chance with blade runner so let us enjoy it.

Such a beautiful movie. Best movie I've seen all year. The visuals, the musical score, and the acting were flawless. Every shot of this film can be hung on a wall as an art piece. I can't wait to see it again.

One of the very rare times i have to disagree with Jeremy Jahns. I think "Blade Runner 2049" is AWESOMETACULAR !
