    Love this, thanks Key Fob Rob. Only thing I'd add is one mistake I was making -- I was squeezing the sides hard in when using just the key to drive the battery slot out. Wound up scratching up the key fob (still works). However, when you squeeze the sides AND push the slot out with the same hand in one motion, then only a minimal amount of key pressure needed. No needle nose pliers needed! Thanks again.

      You’re a life saver, thanks for the tip. It worked instantly in one go. The key method was a bit too hard and I also ended up scratching a little also.

      Good tip. The key is thicker than the space he’s poking the key into, and I broke it.

    Thanks! I bought a certified pre-owned Audi, and one fob failed almost immediately and the other about 8 months later. The technique you show is exactly how it works, but mine were not quite so easy to remove. Maybe my thumbs are too weak. But now I know how to do it rather than driving 20 miles to the dealership and embarrassing myself.

    • @KeyFobRob
      @KeyFobRob  Рік тому

      Strong thumbs are a must! These things get really stuck. That's why I used the mechanical key to assist with sliding the tray out.

      No problem. I'm pretty certain they don't make it really straightforward to keep the customers coming back to the dealership for even simple fixes. The newest for Audi makes is even more ridiculous.

    For those struggling to get the battery tray to slide out, I found it better to wiggle it firmly with my fingers while pushing the two buttons in. The wiggle action frees it quickly. I had a hard time using a metal instrument because i had to push so hard it damaged and scrapped the plastic.

    It is an excellent and easy video to follow. The only problem is that you didn't tell us how difficult it can be to get that battery tray out. I had to have another person hold the fob while I manipulated the tray. I wasn't stron enough or dextrous enough to do it myself. You made it look easy!

    Great video rob , id do a follow-up video eliminating that last step where you use your key to tear up the bAck of the remote lol . Once you squeeze the two tabs together, use about 3 pounds of pressure and you battery slides right out 👍🏼👍🏼

    This did not help me but I figured it out anyway.
    With this video, I struggled with where to put the key and which direction to apply pressure with the key while trying to access the battery. When I tried this, the "battery drawer" did not budge. Plus, I was risking hurting the plastic with the end of the key (multiple scratched) due to the two questions already mentioned about the key (placement and pressure direction).
    I then watched two other videos on the same subject with the same key fob. Neither of them referenced using the metal key at all when trying to open the "battery drawer." They both said to press the two buttons while trying to put out the drawer. They both also mentioned moving the drawer side to side while trying to pull it out. The second video did not make much of a fuss about rocking the drawer side to side, so that video did not solve my problem. However, the third did.
    It said one really needs to work at rocking the drawer side to side and said it was because the drawer can get stuck. I then tried more mussel and worked it out (without using a key). Lastly, I would like to mention that as the key fobs age in our pockets and purses (and get more and more dirt and fine particles that work their way into our key fobs) I suspect the wiggling side to side is going to become more and more difficult - and therefore, needs to be emphases even more than it was in the 3rd video. (If this post that took me 10 minute to write helps at least one person, it will be worth it. However, I wont be holding my breath!)
    ... there you go little posted buddy, off into the cosmic online intro-verse never to be heard again...

      @@KeyFobRob thanks! I have my keys and my batteries and will take them to the dealer. I struggled yesterday with the key, a fork and eventually pliers to pull the sliding part out. I eventually decided not to risk breaking the thing. If anyone is going to break my car keys, it is going to be the trained professional at the dealer!

    For my 2023 A4, I had to really wiggle the slide with the battery to get it out. Using the key for leverage did not work. Another video said to wiggle the slide.
