He'd learn that anyway by himself when time has come. It is just far too early for this little guy to go up or downstairs. That's bad for his bones and joints.

It seems that this cutie is no longer alive as 15 years passed. Dogs have a short lifespan, but I hope that they had a good life. Rest in peace, Butterball.
Seeing Butterball pace back and forth on that third step from the top made me think he was going 'I'm trying to find a shorter drop to the next step, but it's all level! Why is it all so level?!'
It's not torturing, it's the process of learning. Butterball is whimpering because he's afraid to go down the stairs, it's all new to him, but he has to learn how to do so. I'm sure you're afraid to do new things as well, but all is well once you've conquered your fear. Same goes for Butterball. At the end of the video, he went down those 3 steps like a champ, especially since being so scared with the first one. And yes, Butterball is very adorable. ^_^
this made my heart broke into pieces :( i just read a comment from a latest vid of butterball which is 2 years ago and the dog passed away on july 2021 due to degenerative myelopathy. he lived a long and happy life, rest easy on doggy heaven, butterball 🤍🐾
I know you’re being kind but I don’t understand why people feel more comforted by the idea of an afterlife than the reality. Nobody and no animal has anything to worry about after dying. Death only affects those that are left behind. Butterball is at peace by the very nature of being dead. He’s not sad. He’s not missing out on anything. He’s not in pain or regretful or happy or anything else. Death only impacts the living.

About 8 years ago now, I had a dream of this exact video, I was watching a small dog attempting to descend a flight of carpet stairs. Exactly the same, even with the gate at the top and the whimpers. I always remembered the dream as being a little too weird or familiar, and now I know why.
Just so you know ;) Corgi's and stairs is not a good combo - Its not good for their legs/hips - So if a Corgi faces stairs daily, it might get hip problems alot earlier in life than a corgi who doesnt face stairs daily.

Cute, but I've been told by corgi breeders and trainers that you should not be allowing such a young corgi pup to go down the stairs, as this can cause permanent damage to their legs and backs.
NEVER, EVER, EVER let your little corgi puppy go up & down stairs, not good for their little spines which are still developing. You are just laying the groundwork for back problems for when it is grown.
So cute!! They've got a short up with him still around in 2021, but announced he had degenerative myelopathy. I hope he's still around but given this disease and age I'm not hopeful. Looks like he had an amazing life with amazing people though ❤️❤️
My dogs named George but I always call him Butterball. So glad to see someone else thought that would be a good idea. It started as Buddy and gradually turned into Butterball. Lol
probably not, In one of their videos back from 2021 the owner said that butterball has degenerative myelopathy and it's a fatal disease and often dogs that get diagnosed with it can only live for another year or 2..
