🐔+ (?) = Ressurected and old friend from the past and also shot some of this juicy tax p3200! Have you guys shot it yet? What are your thoughts on the new film?! #Minoltagang 💪🏽
Dis you ever shoot any of the Konica 3200 or the Kodak Royal 1000? I have pushed both to 6400 with good results. I have also pushed Tri-X to 6400 and would tell people that I processed it in boiling Accufine for 30 minutes, LOL!!! These days, I miss the original Ektar 25.
Got my first roll back the other week. Shot it at 3200 indoors in the evening - got a couple keepers. You're right about having to nail the metering, if you miss the shots get dark fast. I'm working on a second roll at 1600 now to see how the contrast/mid tones change.
This film is actually rated an ISO of 800. the P stands for "push" meaning that it is designed to be pushed, according to Kodak up to 25600 ISO even. And for this reason I would say this could definitely be an everyday shooter. I heard that p3200 looks best at 800. Pair this with Tmax 100 and you have the entire spectrum covered, no need for any other BW film!
Paul awesome! Haha thanks for sharing that! I could see where you’re going with that! Awesome awesome awesome awesome man can’t wait to try it out at 800!
Paul, I am confused now. I purchased a roll of this and am going to use it at the NC Transportation Museum for a special Nighttime photo shoot of a Streamlined Steam Engine, the 611. Film will be lab developed. Should I set my light meter to 800 or 3200? Plan to use a Nikon F2. They will have special lighting for the event. Pretty sure I will be only one using film.
@@dirtywater5336 so what’s being mentioned in this thread is that 800 iso gets great results - therefore to do this, rate at 800 when shooting then check a dev chart and develop at 800 timings.
Well done with this one, I really need to pick up a few rolls of this and give it a shot myself. Great looking bag, thanks for the link and keep up the great content
Thanks Drew. I purchased a few rolls of TMX3200. However it’s worth mentioning that Ilford was always loyal to film shooters, So it deserves our loyalty and not hurting its business whenever Kodak /Fuji decides to have a film removed or reintroduced on a whim (Acros, anyone?)
Great shots Bro! I've used this film with the Olympus Infinity Stylus Zoom 140 and Argus C4 rangefinder with good results. I also enjoyed shooting this at night with good results as well. Glad you reunited with the A1. I miss my A1.
Not sure if its your processing or just the look of the film, but youre right about the photos have a really "classic" look to them. definitely reminded me of that old school new york style street photography look
When I shot this film in the old days I only used it inside like in church or a wedding reception. My husband would push or pull(?) It when he developed it to get the most out of it. It was amazing.
Thanks for this review boss I know it takes time to put them together. I have to say though broad daylight is not the best test for this film, we really don't know what it looks like when pushed to 3200. I guess the good thing is the aperture is so small that everything will be in focus for Street LOL
Deffffinitely grainy! Love it! I've got three rolls I'm anxious to burn through soon. Gotta empty out some HP5 & Superia first though. There's definitely alot to like about a new camera. It's like a new car! Ohhhh, the smell!!!! You might consider an ND filter if you're going to shoot P3200 in daylight. That way, you can bring down your exposure some and maybe play with DOF more. Otherwise, it's a low-light film.
I just switched over to Kodak 3200 from Ilford Delta 3200. I havent shot it yet but from all the articles I can find comparing the two, Kodak has higher contrast, finer grain, and is sharper overall. I was never quite impressed with Delta 3200 but it was really all that was available on the mass market until recently. Looking forward to shooting this stuff. Also love that camera. I have an A-1 as well. Very well built and as you mentioned, buttery smooth operation
You got an A-1 again!!! Too good to leave behind. Your review led me to buy mine and has been my man film camera for 3 months. I greatly appreciate your past review! I really want to pick up some P3200, especially since I’ve been on a film-buying splurge of trying new stocks. Always look forward to he instagram livestreams, this is Emgamblephoto. ❤️
Congrats on 13k followers Jonathan! Your work is inspiring and keep up the good work! I know how you feel about selling something you love and buying it back! It was the same for me with the Yashica Mat 124G
Dude love the shot @ 3:28 you really did capture a moment there and your right about the look of the film it really does give an old photojournalist style to the images, NOW GO SHOOT AT F1.4 IN DAYLIGHT NO CREAMY BOKEH NO LIKE BUTTON
I'm always curious about the results of high iso film. rn, I'm trying out whether I should switch to using 800 or just keep pushing my regular 400, or the c200. That might be a solid portrait film.
As PB said, 800 ISO is the 'real' speed of this film. Daniel Milnor (Shifter) has an excellent review of this film, including developers and other darkroom info.
nice to see you got another canon A1 ,great camera i have one my self the only thing with mine is the film counter only moves a few frames then stops . so i'm thinking of a way to take photos and keep track on how many i've taken . love the video .
nice contrast but still big tonal grey range! Like your confronting pass-by people shots and how the angle (which I think comes spontaneously) gives the whole that moving dynamic! Appreciate your Content and Enthusiasm!
One of the best things about this is how fast it is to develop compared to pushing a 400 speed film. 9 minutes for 1600 and 11 for 3200 is so much faster than pushing TriX or Hp5 a couple stops.
great videos my friend have been watching you for a while now. I own a Minolta SR-T Super which I bought from eBay a while back and on my 2nd roll. I need to travel more and start shooting more film. What do you think of that camera? It's fully manual and mechanical, so it takes time to take a photograph which is good and bad in a way.
Good stuff man! My A1 has a battery drain issue :( Do you know a good repair shop in the Bay? Also, you should paint your water cooler like a kodak film canister
I got the feeling you could've something a little more related to the scope of this film, I just think it should've been tried out in a low light, if not, why not just tri-x/tmax 400?
Hey, I just started shooting film and i feel like my Canon a1 light meter is off. Ive checked with an app and the camera gives different readout, also I've used my digital camera and I feel my canon a1 is always over exposing the shots.
samfierce hmmm all rounder definitely a zoom but if you wanna improve your photography a prime can still eat close or wide but you gotta use your legs and mind to compose :)
I just purchased a canon A-1 off eBay and I’m super pumped to get it and try it out. Only thing is the battery door is broken. Do you know how to or have any recommendations on having it replaced?
KingJvpes I was thinking about it. They have some cheap replacement doors on eBay. The top right of the door is broken off. So the right of the battery is exposed.
Chad anugga oh yea, buying a new door is probably the best bet! Shouldn’t be too hard to install. I’ve seen a couple of tutorials here on UA-cam that you could use as reference
Such a nice film. Nice low contrast at a high speed, and nice grain. I guess its what you would expect from tmax. I also followed your advice (ig dm) and bought an om2n! (Nikon to #olympusgang lol) With a 28 2.8 and a 24 2.8. Ill try to get a 50mm in the future. Should i go 1.4 or 1.8? 1.2 is out of the budget lol. Great video, i saw some crooked horizon lines; winogrand or doisneau influence? I hope you are feeling better. Keep em videos coming! 😄😄😄
Santiago Castillo dope!! haha I think the 1.8 is perfectly adequate. I’d only Go for the 1.4 if I needed the extra stop if Light and yessssss a lot of winogrand and doisneau lately :)
Peter Charles I’ve shot and developed 800 iso in HC-110. Noticeably less grain but not much. You’ll definitely get a more fine grain shooting hp5 at 800 speed
Great vid JP, might have to grab myself some p3200! Just a quick question, what are those little wooden things you put on your shutter button, and where can I get some? Keep up the sweet videos!
Danielle R ahhhhh loaded question! Haha I can’t answer for you this time, it’s just too hard 😭 the a-1 is smooth and feels right but the F3 is just so pure, even smoother and also aesthetically a bit better looking. That stuff may be objective but jeeeezz like I said I can’t answer 😂
Why would you shoot 3200 film outside in bright sunlight? I suppose you could use an ND big stopper to cut down the light but then you will have focusing difficulties. 3200 film is grainy compared to much slower films. probably buy a roll and use it in the evenings, like when you are out with the family for a dinner 👌

Shot some of the old Tax P3200 emulsion that was probably a few decades expired, the film was grainy af

You keep knocking it out the park buddy. Thank you for such great work
Well done with this one, I really need to pick up a few rolls of this and give it a shot myself. Great looking bag, thanks for the link and keep up the great content

One of my favorite cameras. Keep it up buddy. Greetings from Germany...BTW some really nice shoots..
that was a good impression! and glad that you have your old friend back
Keep killing it with the quality vids dawg love them.
Nick Moeller thanks nick!!
Doing some 3200 projects right now, and did a quick search, and of course, Japes is there already with everything I need to know a year ago.

Dope video my man...Very informative also.
I haven’t tried the 3200, but I did just receive 2 rolls of TMAX 400, looking forward to shooting it, CHEERS!
Can we see some crispy B-roll of that Canon A1 😍 it looks so good brand new

Waaay less grainier than I was expecting. Also that A-1 is hella minty! Some of those shots clean af man!
thanks yuichiiiiiii haha dude i still get tripped up with your name. Love it tho
As PB said, 800 ISO is the 'real' speed of this film. Daniel Milnor (Shifter) has an excellent review of this film, including developers and other darkroom info.
I have mint A-1 and T90 cameras. T90 like the A-1 and F-1 was a tank used by many pros as fabulous camera with L Series lenses.
nice to see you got another canon A1 ,great camera i have one my self the only thing with mine is the film counter only moves a few frames then stops . so i'm thinking of a way to take photos and keep track on how many i've taken . love the video .

Gianni M much love!! Also the moving shots were incorporating some of winogrands techniques!
KingJvpes That's what I actually thought. But keep on Mind that it has to happen naturally. You going to try p3200 in low light?
woah whats that lense at 1:12
Great video man, need to grab some P3200 now! Love the look of it personally, not shot b&w in a few weeks either so dying to give it a go!!!
Damn that a1 looks really new damn damn damn good purchase
It always was a gorgeous film, it would be good to see it compared with Delta 3200 at night. Try Rodinal 50:1 for your next development. Great video.
Any advice for someone that has a camera of 1600 iso as the max setting. But wants to use this film?
I'm sorry if you've already filmed this and I just can't find it, but can you record your process for developing black and white?
One of the best things about this is how fast it is to develop compared to pushing a 400 speed film. 9 minutes for 1600 and 11 for 3200 is so much faster than pushing TriX or Hp5 a couple stops.
Joseph Delgadillo Joseph bro, yesssss so much faster man. Absolutely love it thanks for the comment!
Very cool! I really like your photos! Wish I can purchase them prints . . Keep it up!
Grid Cort thank you!! And if ou want a print just DM me on insta :)
Great shots!
hey just wondering what to do if your camera doesn't go to 3200? my nikon em only go to 1600?
great videos my friend have been watching you for a while now. I own a Minolta SR-T Super which I bought from eBay a while back and on my 2nd roll. I need to travel more and start shooting more film. Beautiful photographs, you've got a good eye.
Jas Mann thanks a bunch my friend!
Good stuff man! My A1 has a battery drain issue :( Do you know a good repair shop in the Bay? Also, you should paint your water cooler like a kodak film canister
I really wanna try out p3200 at the next concert i'm going to but that would mean RIP to whatever camera i'm bringing there
Finally! First Video before breakfast again!
Zanta_ Klaus haha right on time!!! Whatcha eating today?

Deangelo Films thanks a tonnnn bro!!!
Deangelo Films thanks a tonnnn bro!!!
I just got my grandfathers old A-1 for my first film slr and it needs a bit of work. You must have paid a lot for a NOS one but I bet it was worth it.
where did you pick up your canon A-1 from? I have an AE- 1 and was thinking of upgrading
I got the feeling you could've something a little more related to the scope of this film, I just think it should've been tried out in a low light, if not, why not just tri-x/tmax 400?
btw congratulations on your channel, love your content
What did you set the a-1’s ISO at with the P3200?
Hey, I just started shooting film and i feel like my Canon a1 light meter is off. Ive checked with an app and the camera gives different readout, also I've used my digital camera and I feel my canon a1 is always over exposing the shots.
ND filters are best for high iso film. I always have a 4 stop ND filter for these purposes.
Hey, recently found an x700 at a thrift store but the ring with shutter speed options is missing, is this a hard fix?
Would you recommend getting a zoom lens for a film camera? Or are Prime's still the best way to go? I need an all rounder
samfierce hmmm all rounder definitely a zoom but if you wanna improve your photography a prime can still eat close or wide but you gotta use your legs and mind to compose :)
Do you make your own prints?
I just purchased a canon A-1 off eBay and I’m super pumped to get it and try it out. Only thing is the battery door is broken. Do you know how to or have any recommendations on having it replaced?
Chad anugga I unfortunately do not. Maybe buy a new door? What’s wrong with it?

What ISO should i use for this film? And what setup should I consider changing?
Did you try it at 1600iso and 800iso in HC110? Any comments about it at those speeds. Do you get significantly better grain at 800iso?
Peter Charles I’ve shot and developed 800 iso in HC-110. Noticeably less grain but not much. You’ll definitely get a more fine grain shooting hp5 at 800 speed
Great vid JP, might have to grab myself some p3200! Just a quick question, what are those little wooden things you put on your shutter button, and where can I get some?
Keep up the sweet videos!
Thanks bro!!! Those are called shutter released buttons and you can get them on @themoregooder on instagram!
Awesome! Thanks!
Shoot it handheld at night 1/30s, f/2.8 or lower and get some sweet low light photos.
so outta curiosity how do you actually rate this at ? 1600 ?
why shooot 3200 in broad daylight?
Thanks for showing me almost 2 minutes of a bag in the beginning of this movie. man, that was really what I was looking for in a Tmax video.
Ed Hoover my pleasure Mr.hoover!
Best combination👌
I picked up a Canon AV-1, seems kinda weird to me...
I wonder how much he paid for a "like new" A1. Here in Australia these go for quite a bit used.
Yo! Try to do an experiment and use this movie as ISO 6400 at night with the F1.4 lens 👍👍👍
neoartysta86 that’d be great!! MYbe some portraits?
video starts at @1:36
thank you now the prices are going through the roof for the A1 -.-
How does tmax 3200 compare to delta 3200? I prefer the look of ilford delta 100 better than tmax 100
Curren Schwartz that my friend is something we have to find out
Do you prefer Canon A 1 or your Nikon F 3?
Danielle R ahhhhh loaded question! Haha I can’t answer for you this time, it’s just too hard 😭 the a-1 is smooth and feels right but the F3 is just so pure, even smoother and also aesthetically a bit better looking. That stuff may be objective but jeeeezz like I said I can’t answer 😂
What's your street lens bro
Felix S. 35mm 2.8!
KingJvpes thanks a lot bro
someone gotta explain why he only got 13k subs
Why would you shoot 3200 film outside in bright sunlight? I suppose you could use an ND big stopper to cut down the light but then you will have focusing difficulties. 3200 film is grainy compared to much slower films. Great for low light scenes or natural low light portraits.
If you want a classic grainy photojournalist look try Tri-X 400.
Try Pan F 50 with abstract scenes / landscape / architectural where there is no movement.
Bro trust if you shoot this in low light that grain gets waaaay more prominent
Emilio Hernandez I bet!
chicken & waffles 🎉
chicken and waffles? and maybe the canon a1?
pancakes>waffles, but who doesn't like chicken
#olympusgang !!!!
Dood I use a ND filter and shoot this stuff at f1.4 and is looks prime✌️
Why use 3200 iso film in the sun?...to test it try shoot in low light it made for
Emmanuel Bergère thought the same thing :/
Chicken and waffles 😂😂💀💀💀👍🏽
ayeeee lol it’s my city :)
Chicken & waffles!!!
chicken and waffles!

damn bro you're super quick!! haha
Missed opportunity to actually shoot in low light.
Im eating tuna
Chick and waffles I guess
So about p3200, I recently ordered some rolls and I might shoot it on nighttime.
Nice video! I like Ilfords 3200. After seeing this I'll try the Kodak!
