    Great walk through and documented steps, Don!
    This will be helpful on any 3rd or 4th gen Silverado/GMC (K2 or T1) for various projects involving access to the rear of the headliner.
    Very creative thinking and I appreciate your sharing the thought process you use - quite helpful!
    Really good results! :)

    I think that new rearview mirror camera works better at night than the GM stock one.

    Very nice Don. I think I'd try to figure out a way to get that wire down through the box and more hidden versus having it coming out of the rack.

    Hi Don, great video as always but I was wondering how come you just didn't run the new brake light to the rear brake lights and run the wire under the bed rail and just disconnect the truck 3 rd brake light? Well great video, I really like the how to's.

      I thought of every option but since I was running the camera wire to the same area it made sense to me to keep the wires together for this mod.

    My Elevation didn't come with the mirror camera, it was on constraint at the time, looking to retrofit one this spring my self!

      What year is your elevation? I am also looking to add the camera mirror. But it was never an option on my truck so just trying to do some research on if it will work to add in

      If you Browse for OEM GM Factory Upgrades, there is a Place in Ovedia, Fl. that carries a Factory Upgrade kit for this. I tried to reply to you last night with Company name and web address, But I don't think Don's Life wants me to post the name or website address. I checked back to see if there was any response and my reply was gone. Good Luck.

      @markmanning5683 I didn’t block it or delete any responses. UA-cam community safety features probably flagged it for review. I have to login on a desktop to see what’s there. I check it every few weeks.

    My 2022 Denali does not have the camera mirror but I have been wanting to see if I can get one and wire it to a camera on the back of my camper. I am not interested in the see through setup but being able to use the rear view to see from the back of my camper would be awesome

    5:35 if you get a rubber band or clip, and attach the brake controller switch, it’ll activate the brake lights.

    Is that rear dash cam cable in the area of the side impact airbags? That might become a whip and or camera projectile in an accident.

    Nice video and good job! Did you lose visible resolution with the replacement camera? I heard the oem is 4k.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife 5 місяців тому

      It is a direct replacement and from what I know it supports the same resolution as the OEM one.

    Don, on the Wiring aspect, I have a question. For both Brake Light extension wire and the Camera wiring. could you drill out a hole on the Bottom of the Sport Bar Tube where it meets the EGR Cover and run the wires up to the Brake Light and New Camera location? If you are as OCD as I am when it comes to wiring, it would completely hide everything. I know it would involve drilling a extra hole into the Track mount (maybe), but once the Wires were in the Track slots, they could go into the box where the EGR rolls up into, then into the Cab. Just a thought. Take Care. Me.

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife 5 місяців тому +1

      I have contemplated it, but since this is a prototype sport bar and not the final version, I don’t want to make any alterations to the RollTrac itself if the final sport bar offers some solutions.

  • @BrandonAbernathy
    @BrandonAbernathy 2 місяці тому +1

    Do they make a switch for this that can be used to go between the factory camera and the new cam if you aren't running a cap?

    • @Donslife
      @Donslife 2 місяці тому +1

      I’s reach out to the manufacturer to confirm, but at the moment I am not aware of anything

    Did you put some foam or Styrofoam around the wires when you stuck them in a rack tube So they wouldn't rattleinside?

    Your dash cam wire needs to be behind the airbag and not under it. I would redo that if I were you😉
